Job description
Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our Clapham Books store is looking for a dedicated Book Volunteer to assist us on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
By volunteering with us, you'll not only support our charitable work but also contribute to creating a positive experience for our community of customers. You'll also play a key role in ensuring that items FARA cannot sell are responsibly redirected, helping us further our commitment to a sustainable economy.
The Role:

Role (Volunteer, unpaid): Partnership Support Volunteer
Role Description:
The Partnerships Support Volunteer will assist the Partnership lead in coordinating, managing, and expanding Wekume’s partnerships with local and international organizations, companies, institutions, and individuals. The volunteer will support communication, research, documentation, and follow-ups to ensure smooth and effective collaboration with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
▪️Assist in identifying potential partners and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities.
▪️Support outreach efforts — drafting emails, booking meetings, and tracking responses.
▪️Attend partnership meetings (physical or virtual) with the Lead when required, and take notes or manage follow-ups.
▪️Help prepare partnership documents such as concept notes, briefs, proposals, and reports.
▪️Maintain and update the partnership database and contact lists.
▪️Support donor research, grant mapping, and stakeholder analysis.
▪️Coordinate with program, communications, and finance teams to ensure partners are engaged and informed.
▪️Follow up on partnership deliverables and timelines.
▪️Assist in organizing partnership-related events, campaigns, or activations.
▪️Perform any other duties assigned by the lead.
Skills & Qualifications
▪️Strong written and verbal communication skills.
▪️Good organizational and follow-up abilities.
▪️Interest in partnerships, fundraising, youth development, SRHR .
▪️Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
▪️Computer literacy (email, Google Workspace/Office, Zoom).
▪️Team-player, proactive attitude, and willingness to learn.
Time Commitment
Part-time volunteer role (flexible hours depending on activities).
Occasional in-person meetings and events.

The shop is part of the RSPCA North West London & South Hertfordshire Branch. It plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community, as well as raising much needed funds for our branch so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work.

About the Role
As a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant, you would join a small team of other volunteers helping to make the shop a success and raise vital funds for animal welfare. Our volunteers assist us in many ways, such as accepting and sorting items donated by the public, preparing items ready for sale, processing sales through the till, assisting customers with queries, and helping to merchandise the shop floor.
Who are we looking for?
We’re currently looking for people aged 18 or over who are friendly, team players, are comfortable communicating with colleagues, customers and donors, and who can make a regular commitment of at least one 3-hour per shift per week for a minimum of six months. Retail experience is not essential.
