The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions.
This is a unique opportunity to shape global conversations on climate science by empowering researchers in developing countries to publish and communicate their work, collaborating with some of the world’s leading SRM experts.
The Scientific Writing and Publishing Lead will play a key role in supporting researchers in the Global South to communicate their findings effectively and contribute to the global SRM conversation. Working within the Programmes team, reporting to the Programmes Director, and in cooperation with the Communications team, the Scientific Writer will collaborate closely with research teams and external partners. Responsibilities will include:
1. Support researchers with scientific writing and publishing
- Develop guidance materials on topics such as structuring research papers, writing abstracts, and best practices for peer-reviewed publication.
- Train and support researchers to develop, refine, and publish scientific manuscripts through one-on-one and group training sessions and technical editing and feedback.
- In collaboration with the Staff Scientist, help build climate researchers’ capacity to prepare and communicate their findings to different audiences.
- Advise research teams on scientific publishing norms, including peer review, and open-access publishing.
- Support researchers in choosing appropriate journals and navigating the submission and review process.
- Assist researchers in adapting their work for public and policy-facing communication channels, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
2. Lead and coordinate reports and publications
- Serve as the lead coordinator for a recurring international scientific report, overseeing contributions from multiple researchers and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Act as a writer for key sections of the report, synthesising insights from researchers into a compelling and scientifically rigorous narrative.
- Work closely with stakeholders and coordinate peer review and fact-checking to ensure the report’s accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
3. Support Degrees’ scientific communication and outreach
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure that external materials such as blog posts, website content, policy briefs and media articles are scientifically accurate and up to date.
- Work with the policy engagement teams to develop scientific summaries and briefings for a range of stakeholders.
- Keep Degrees staff and researchers abreast of new techniques for communicating research results to a range of stakeholders and training them how to use them.
- Ensure that information from our funded research teams is shared with the communications teams.
- Work closely with Degrees’ Staff Scientist and provide support when required.
4. Manage projects
- Manage multiple writing and editorial projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Work closely with programme officers, researchers, and external partners to coordinate content development and align with strategic goals.

Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 300,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma. Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK.

JOB PURPOSE
The Fundraising and Development department is responsible for ensuring Magic Breakfast’s on-going sustainability through the generation of income and other critical non-financial support. The Department Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Development and other members of the Fundraising Leadership to facilitate closer alignment across the department, help unlock and enable income growth, whilst also providing administrative and coordination support to the team more broadly. Department Coordination

The Programme Manager is an exciting and influential role at RCPCH Global, a specialist unit within the College, in which you will lead the management of our Early Child Development and Disability programme work in Lebanon and the wider Middle East region; you will also be responsible for supporting smaller programme development with our partner, the Paediatric Association of Sierra Leone. Based in our London office, you will oversee the implementation of the programmes, including the delivery of high-quality programme activities.
As Programme Manager, you will monitor and manage all financial and budgetary aspects of the programme in compliance with donor requirements and take the lead on all programme reporting to donors, maintaining and ensuring high-quality programme monitoring and evaluation processes are adhered to. You will also provide strategic/backstopping technical support on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programme design, budget formulation, financial and activity reporting and M&E with the other members of the Global Team.
Crucially, you will be responsible for liaising with local programme counterparts and stakeholders in the field, which may include regular field visits. You will also take the lead on the recruitment and management of short- and/or long-term programme volunteer clinicians, as well as short-term advisory consultants, for the programme.
You will lead, with the Global Team members, on wider donor liaison, including development of fundraising strategies and target donor institutions, and you will help develop new programme grant agreements, as well as promoting RCPCH Global activities to external stakeholders.
Suitably qualified in international development, public health, international and global health, health systems strengthening and child health, or with equivalent work experience, you should have excellent project/programme management skills and have a background in a relevant international/development management or implementation role.
With demonstrable experience of designing, initiating and leading complex programme development processes, including with senior government counterparts, local partner organisations and international and multilateral donor agencies, you should have a significant understanding of budget management and financial reporting, including to bilateral and multilateral donors.
Previous experience of successfully managing large complex programmes, including supporting field-programme teams both remotely and in the field, within the international development and/or health sectors is essential, in particular with experience in working with Palestinian communities both in-situ in the West Bank and Gaza, and in other refugee camp environments as well as broader experience of working in developing countries is highly desirable.
Although based in London, this role may include some travel to Lebanon and other countries/regions as required.
RCPCH Global is a unit within RCPCH which designs and manages a range of international projects and programmes to improve neonatal, child and adolescent health, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Our programmes use teams of skilled clinicians and other health professionals to work with counterparts in targeted low-income countries to train and mentor doctors, nurses and other health workers, as a means of helping to build the capacity and quality of the health systems in those countries.

· Developing and innovating the school’s regular giving programme, the Merchant Taylors’ Fund, to ensure a consistent income stream and increased participation from alumni, parents and friends.
· In conjunction with external consultants, running our (currently) biennial telephone fundraising campaigns and Giving Days.
· Liaising with school departments, clubs and societies to identify exciting projects to motivate supporters.
· Segmenting and targeting recipients for appeals to ensure the greatest impact and returns.
· Devising the strategy for promoting legacy giving as a means of supporting Merchant Taylors’, and to implement this strategy to increase the number of known legacy pledges to the school.
Stewardship
· Establishing and running a comprehensive benefactor stewardship programme that thanks and stewards donors at all levels, including legacy pledges, through regular communication and events.
Reporting
· Reporting on progress against all objectives to the Development and Alumni Relations Sub-Committee of Governors.
· Where appropriate, working with the Development Executive (Events and Communications), to produce benefactor report publications and contribute to other Development publications.
· Ensuring that all contact with OMTs and parents is recorded on the Development Office’s database, the Raiser’s Edge.

- Manage, deliver and monitor engaging integrated and audience-led marketing campaigns and communications that grow visitor numbers and revenue for the museum
- Support the development of business strategies, understanding the key objectives of the organisation and all activity being undertaken
- Report regularly on marketing activity across all channels, including collating press coverage, reviewing website data, social media reach and make recommendations for improvements and implement where necessary.
Press, print and design
- Develop and maintain relationships with press organisations and freelancers to distribute exhibition press releases as appropriate
- Provide regular listings to media and listing platforms, locally and regionally
- Manage design work ensuring brand and communication cohesion across campaigns.
- Prepare and supervise the production (with external suppliers where necessary) of promotional communications to include design and print of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photography.

Animals Asia has spent over 25 years working to end cruelty and restore respect for animals across Asia. With teams in Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, the UK, and beyond, they combine advocacy, direct rescue, and sanctuary care to create systemic change. Their global fundraising and communications team is driven, well-structured, and rooted in the charity’s deeply held values. Income has been steadily rising since 2017 and they have the people, plans and investment to maintain this growth.
The Trusts and Foundations function has grown substantially since being unified globally in 2020.
