The Job
Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, this role sits within the Communications, Engagement and Fundraising team. Training
Starting a career in Children’s Social Care comes with a lot to learn, which is why we provide a 4-week fully paid induction and training programme to make sure you feel supported and confident in your new role.
Working Hours
Our children and young people need support around the clock so our homes run 24/7 and we operate on fixed rotas with a variety of shift patterns.
As a Trainee Practitioner, you’ll work day shifts between 8am and 10pm, with 8, 10 or 12-hour shifts available. You’ll usually work an average of 40 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays.
For example, if you work four 10-hour shifts, you’ll then have three days off. Overtime is available and paid at time and a half, including bank holidays.
At our Ealing home, you’ll be required to complete an average of 2 sleep-ins per week, paid at £50 each.

Ben was a kind, creative young person who loved art, music, Arsenal FC, and making people laugh. He had big dreams of becoming a graphic designer. His death was a senseless act of violence, and the outpouring of grief and public support that followed marked the start of a movement. Ben’s own words, written shortly before his death, called for change, and his voice continues to inspire our work.
Through immersive workshops in our Choices and Consequences Exhibitions and free online resources, we have reached over 50,000 young people so far. Our work challenges myths about knife crime, strengthens peer influence, and sparks meaningful conversations. About the Role
We are looking for an education or youth work professional who can deliver our programmes to a very high standard. You will be a skilled facilitator and communicator who can engage with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. Volunteer Coordinator
Contract: Permanent | 4 days / 28 hrs per week
Location: Hybrid (North London community service locations / homeworking)
FEAST With Us (FEAST) is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Volunteer Coordinator to play a key role in growing, supporting and celebrating our incredible volunteer community, with skills and passion for building relationships and delivering community impact.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and you'll oversee the entire volunteer journey, from attraction and recruitment through to onboarding, development, engagement and recognition. You'll be the central point of contact, ensuring volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience while helping us continue to expand and strengthen our volunteer programme.
About FEAST With Us - Feeding and Empowering All Sustainably Together (FEAST)
FEAST’s mission is to improve the nutrition, wellbeing, and health of people at risk of food insecurity. We work across London with charity and community partners to deliver nutrutious meal services and healthy eating programmes in homeless hostels and community centres.
Our meals use surplus food, and provide welcoming, inclusive spaces that bring people together and reduce loneliness. Our healthy eating programme empowers people by building nutrition knowledge, and developing practical cooking, food hygiene and budgeting skills.
We’re a small but ambitious charity, with a passionate, supportive and collaborative team of 11 staff and 9 Trustees, supported by c200 volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer recruitment:
Identify opportunities and develop meaningful and impactful roles for service delivery, skilled and corporate volunteers
Promote volunteer opportunities through different channels and networks
Implement initiatives to diversify our volunteer base and reduce barriers to volunteering
Build relationships with community organisations, partners, education providers and local networks
Safely and efficiently onboard new volunteers
Volunteer management:
Develop and implement the volunteer management strategy
Act as first point of contact for volunteers
Develop and manage corporate volunteering partnerships
Maintain volunteer records, compliance documentation and reporting data
Monitor, report and analyse volunteer data and key metrics
Collect accurate and insightful data and case studies on the volunteers and their impact
Identify volunteering requirements and ensure sufficient coverage across projects and services
Review and improve volunteer processes and frameworks
Develop and manage our volunteer management platform, Volunteero
Volunteer engagement & retention
Chair the Board of Volunteers to ensure volunteer voices are heard and represented
Coordinate volunteer communications, events, recognition activities and development opportunities
Make sure volunteer opportunities are nurturing and provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment
Implement appropriate reward and recognition initiatives to highlight volunteer impact and say thank you
Gather volunteer feedback
Line Management Responsibilities: PT Volunteer Administrator (1 day per week)
You will have
> two years’ experience in volunteer management / coordination or community outreach
Strong interpersonal and communication skills across multiple channels
Empathy and patience when working with diverse groups of people
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders
Exceptional organisational skills with attention to details
Results-driven approach with focus on outcomes and deliverables
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Line management and team-building experience
Adaptability, resilience and a positive mindset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and volunteer management systems (ideally Volunteero)
Marketing and communications capabilities, including use of Canva
Level 3 Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete)
Desirable experience:
CRM systems, ideally Beacon
Data management and analysis skills
Project management, corporate partnership management or events management
Food insecurity and/or nutrition

Our Youth Employment Manager role is an exciting new opportunity to lead on Poetic Unity’s innovative Employment programmes, which makes up one of our three priority areas: Mental Health, Employment and Education. This role, forming part of our Senior Leadership Team, will play a critical role in supporting thousands of Black young people across the UK to access safe, inclusive and empowering employment opportunities - changing culture and reshaping systems.
Key responsbilities
- Be responsible for the development and management of the Chief Operations Officer Senior Leadership Training (COO SLT) - an innovative training programme for 10 Black young people to achieve the skills required to thrive in positions of senior leadership
- Be directly responsible for the management of the annual Cultural Leaders programme - a 12 month employment programme for 5 Black young people each year, working across different areas of Poetic Unity and with partners across the sector to develop transferable skills.
- Design, implement and manage The Blueprint - a national framework of best practice for the employment of Black young people in creative organisations
- Ensure all Employment programmes are effectively meeting the needs of the target demographic and are aligned with Poetic Unity’s strategic Vision
- Ensure all Employment programmes are effectively meeting the objectives and funding goals as outlined in associated funding requirements
- Be responsible for the effective monitoring and evaluation of all Employment programmes
- Be responsible for programme budget and finance management, working in line with awarded funding allocations and following all documentation protocols.
Person specification
- At least 2 years experience in leadership, people and project management roles, preferably within the charity sector
- Proven track record of effectively managing programmes and services, including programme development, implementation, and evaluation. To hold the knowledge, skills and confidence to bring programmes to life, oversee and manage their efficiency and deliver against outlined project goals and funding requirements
- Experience in project finance management, including keeping to budgets, managing over or underspend, and maintaining required evidence for efficient fund management
- Strong background in operational management - programme impact and evaluation, risk management and programme development
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and advocacy, with the ability to represent Poetic Unity effectively at various levels and build strong, sustainable partnerships to support the programme goals and our strategic vision.
