Advocacy Support Cymru (ASC) is a registered charity with offices in Cardiff and Swansea. We provide Independent Mental Health and Mental Capacity Advocacy Services across most of South Wales, employing 44 employees.

About the role

The post holder will provide support to clients who lack capacity and to implement the safeguards of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 or the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. They will provide non-instructed advocacy (NIA) support to people who lack capacity to make specific decisions and who have no-one else to support them. The successful candidate will travel efficiently and effectively within the Advocacy Support Cymru area of operation.

This role will operate within the Hywel Dda University Health Board Area.

About you

You will have experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children, either within health or social care setting, or indirectly, for example as a carer. You will understand and have experience of working effectively in an intra-agency context with Health and Social Care Professionals. Knowledge of the role of the Independent Mental Capacity Advocate as defined in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 is essential.

Previous direct experience in the role would be preferred but training will be provided.

The salary band for the role is £24,725 to £29,202 FTE; £20,047 –  £23,677 for 30 hours

About the Role  

As a YWA at Respond, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed advocacy for young women and girls age 14-25, with complex needs experiencing multiple disadvantages. 

Ensuring their safety and empowering them to rebuild their lives by advocating for young women and girls to be represented and that their choices and needs are kept central in all activities and decisions.

You will conduct risk assessments (DASH) and work closely with agencies. Your role includes supporting young women and girls in building self-protective skills and resilience, such as self-esteem, confidence, and safety planning. You will also design sessions that help identify healthy and unhealthy relationships, working with social services, police, schools, and housing authorities. You will also play a key role in raising awareness and improving support for neurodivergent survivors.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Finance Officer to play a key role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of Gorse Hill Studios. Therapy Assistant

Hours: 22.5 per week (3 days)

Salary: £17,464.80 per year. Displayed salary has already been pro-rated to number of hours worked. Full time equivalent salary is £29,108.00.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) of colleagues to support a young person and their family for 22.5 hours per week virtually, at their home and in the community.    

About the person:

• A smart, kind, gentle 11 year old girl who lives at home with her mum and cat. 
• Currently not accessing a school but has a team of supporters supporting an Education Other Than School Package. 
• School and education have been very tricky in the past and so it’s important to build up confidence and wellbeing and take time to recover and make connections. 
• This person loves Taylor Swift, Melaine Martinez and K-Pop. Animals are very important to this person, especially their cat and dogs are a favourite too!
• This person is very skilled at video editing and technology. 
• Current activities which are enjoyable are; shopping, crafts, lots of play, listening to music, gaming, making/watching videos, skateboarding and spending time with animals. 
• This person is autistic and has ADHD. She has a positive self-identify around these diagnoses and celebrates being neurodivergent and being part of the neurodivergent community. 
• This person has additional anxiety disorders that make her distressed by demands or feeling forced to do things, and this anxiety can lead to her not being able to communicate when she wants and needs to.

Under the direction from an advisory teacher with the input from the Psychology, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy teams you will develop programmes of activity and provide these according to the young person's needs under the guidance of the team professionals. 

You will provide advice, support and coaching for the young person and their family, under the guidance of the Therapy and Specialist Support (TSS) professionals. In addition you will attend meetings including MDT as required contributing to the young person's risk assessment and management plans ensuring that the young person is involved in their support planning wherever possible to facilitate their meaningful involvement in their progress.

• You have experience of supporting therapy programmes (as an assistant or other relevant role).
• You have experience of Continuing Professional Development.
• You have experience of working in specialist education.
• You have the ability to relate well to parents and carers.
• You are funny, energetic and have similar interests to this person.

Our Women’s Respite is a vital service that provides safety, stability, and support for women with complex needs – from those escaping domestic abuse to those facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, and trauma. 

As a Specialist Complex Needs Worker, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the lives of women who have experienced violence against women and girls (VAWG). Working within our accommodation service, you will support clients facing multiple disadvantage, ranging from complex needs to medium and lower levels of support, always tailoring your approach to each individual. This is a role where gender-informed and trauma-informed practice is at the heart of everything you do, ensuring that each client is met with understanding, dignity and a pathway towards safety and stability. You will work closely with external partners and attend multi-agency forums such as MARAC, helping to reduce harm, open up opportunities and ensure every woman feels safe enough to take their next step forward.

Your days will be as varied as they are impactful, one moment you may be facilitating a conversation to encourage engagement in training or education, the next you could be connecting someone with specialist mental health or substance use services, arranging access to primary healthcare or building confidence through meaningful activities within the hostel. About the role:

This role is based in our Ashford, Kent office.

You will need to be resilient, confident with speaking to all kinds of people, happy to work as part of a team and willing to constantly learn and adapt to new situations.

Working as a member of our Specialist Services Team you will be someone who is passionate about supporting victims of Hate Crime, including those who have been impacted by the incident. You will ensure support remains victim focused and is delivered to the highest of standards in line with our policies.

As a Hate Crime Advocate you will be:

• Managing a busy caseload of self-referrals, referred service users, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.
• Ensuring each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions.
• Working alongside the Volunteer and Community Manager to raise awareness of the Hate Crime and the service we provide

You will need:

• You will have the skills to conduct risk assessments, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning.
• You should have demonstrable experience of working in a similar setting or position.
• An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.

Ruils is run by, and for, disabled people. It exists to remove the barriers that prevent disabled people from living independent lives. Its vision is a society where all individuals have the choice and control to live independent lives.

We are working with our local Primary Care Networks to deliver Social Prescribing in Richmond. Social Prescribing is part of the NHS Long-Term Plan and enables GPs and other health care professionals to refer patients to a Link Worker who can work with the individual to connect them with services and activities in their local community.

The role aims to empower people and take control of their lives. It involves working with people who may be experiencing a number of issues, so you will need outstanding listening and communication skills, empathy and enthusiasm. You will need excellent organisational skills, be adept at seeking out information for relevant community services and have a tenacity to help people achieve sustainable improvements in their wellbeing.

What you may be doing now:

• You could be a Social Prescriber in another area
• You could be working in the NHS in a coordinating or service providing role
• You could be working in social services or the caring sector
• You could be working in education
• Or you could be doing something else that is relevant

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of clients and incoming referrals, providing appointments through various methods to meet client needs
• Work with individuals on a one-to-one basis to assess their needs, create personalised action plans and locate support within the community
• Engage with community organisations and specialist services that provide support to ease the pathway for your clients
• Build and maintain relationships with Primary Care Networks, GPs, health care professionals and services across the borough
