Trees for Cities
Brixton, Greater London (Hybrid)
£27,700 per year
Full-time
Contract (3 month contract)
Job description

The Engagement Coordinator will join our Engagement Team at the forefront of involving local communities and schools in our exciting tree-planting & urban greening projects and engage people in learning about and taking action for trees and the environment.

The Engagement team at Trees for Cities promotes and leads site-based activities and events for people to participate in our community focused tree planting programme that aims to create healthier, happier urban spaces through nature.

This role supports and coordinates our engagement activities for tree planting and outdoor learning initiatives. This involves conducting community consultations on our site-based projects as well as planning and delivering nature-focused workshops for school children and community groups, public tree planting events, and other activities. Some weekend work is required, with TOIL (time off in lieu).

The person in this role will join two Engagement Coordinators and the Engagement Manager and work closely with other teams to deliver multiple, overlapping projects in diverse London communities.

About Trees for Cities

Trees for Cities is an ambitious, far-reaching organisation.

For over 30 years, Trees for Cities has brought people together to plant and care for trees in towns and cities across the UK. Alongside local communities, partners, and supporters, we’ve planted over 2 million trees where they’re needed most.

Together, we're building a national movement for urban trees and tree equity, so that everyone benefits from the transformative power of trees, no matter where they live.

We're an organisation that suits ambitious, dedicated, and passionate staff. We have roles available for people with varied relevant experience and a willingness to learn more. In return, we offer a warm and supportive team, in-the-job training, and personal career planning.

Trees for Cities is committed to the principles of equal opportunity. We value diversity and are committed to promoting diversity within the workplace. We aim to ensure that our employees achieve their full potential and that all employment decisions, including recruitment, are taken without reference to irrelevant or discriminatory criteria. A full copy of our Equal Opportunities Policy can be provided on request.

About you

Do you love trees and want to learn more about them? Do you enjoy connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds? Are you passionate about nature and inclusive environmental action? Then Trees for Cities is interested in you!

We're looking for:

• Energetic individuals who are happy to work hands-on outdoors in all weathers at a variety of locations around London. Suitable candidates should also be comfortable working indoors in an open office environment.

• Practical and highly organised collaborators capable of supporting event logistics and keen to facilitate a number of engagement activities from small-scale workshops to public community events involving hundreds of people.

• Confident, adaptable, and inclusive communicators who are comfortable engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds in a range of communities, school staff and pupils, interest groups and volunteers, and who are passionate about what we do at Trees for Cities.
