Overall responsibility:
- Leading on the financial affairs of the Foodbank; ensuring that they are conducted within the required legal, accounting and good practice conventions;
- To work in partnership with the Chair and Trustees to ensure the financial viability and development of the Foodbank..
Key tasks are to ensure that the Trustees:
- Fulfil their financial responsibilities
- Have proper systems for budgeting, financial control, insurances, and reporting;
- Are informed by written report, at least on a quarterly basis; ensuring they have a clear picture of the financial health of the food bank;
- Develop a long-term strategy for the Foodbank with clear objectives, monitored and flexible
- Have reports in proper format, comprehensible and discussed properly at Trustee meetings including the AGM;
- Provide Annual Reports as required by the Charity Commission after proper independent examination
Other responsibilities - include working with Trustees to support appropriate:
- Financial plans for future budget allocations; looking after contractual agreements with external partners awarding money for core costs;
- Procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding, GDPR compliance/data protection;
- Promotion of the Foodbank to a wider audience of potential funders and beneficiaries; promote the Foodbank within the wider community;
- To act with reasonable care and skill, giving time, thought and energy to your role.

By leading on the financial matters for the Foodbank, you are part of providing an important support responsibility in your local community; ensuring a dignified experience to our clients and all who come into contact with Rochdale Foodbank.
In volunteering you will be using your existing skills to make a difference; you will meet people who share your passion to eradicate poverty in the local community and you will make a real difference to the running of the Foodbank.
A full Trustee induction is in place to support a prospective candidate within their role, as well as access to local voluntary Trustee training through Action Together or the Trussell Trust.

Purpose of role: To help provide effective financial administration for CPRE London
Key responsibilities
Manage and improve processes for managing CPRE London’s finances, including:
• Facilitating online payments including payroll, tax and NI arrangements for staff
• Facilitating NEST pension payments
• Creating invoices and monitoring whether these have been paid
• Helping monitor whether all expected income has been received
• Paying in cheques or CAF vouchers
• Maintaining a record of income and expenditure on Quickbooks bringing this up to date monthly – furnishing Director with summary of income and expenditure
• Supplying information to the Treasurer for quarterly trustee reports, the annual report and preparation of budgets and providing advice on its presentation
• Assisting in ensuring CPRE London meets its charitable responsibilities, including the submission of Charity Commission returns, completion of year-end accounts and preparing information for and working with auditors
• Making Gift Aid claims to HMRC and keeping records for inspection.
• Looking for cost savings in procurement
Desirable skills and experience
• Experience of bookkeeping and essential accounting procedures. CPRE London uses Quickbooks Online so experience of Quickbooks and/or similar online accounting systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent understanding of Excel.
• A commitment to environmental issues
There will also be opportunities to get involved in other areas of the charity’s work such as administration of the Hedgerow Heroes programme if candidate interest and capacity allows. This could include hands on involvement with planting activities as well as the logistics behind the programme.

- Senior-level experience in governance and / or in people management.
- Strong understanding of, and experience in, the field of the child marriage and / or intersecting areas such as human rights, gender equality, education, shifting social norms or reproductive health, preferably gained within the international context and / or in countries and regions where the global partnership is active.
- Experience of high-level advocacy and including around national, regional and international policies.
- High level experience of networking, philanthropy, and leveraging of resources.
- Successful track record of coalition/movement building.

About Vocal Advocacy
Vocal is a small independent advocacy organisation operating in South and West Devon including Torbay, that helps adults with communication difficulties to understand and exercise their rights, make informed choices and speak up for themselves. Our main activity is one-to-one advocacy, however we also offer services including training, person centred planning and independent quality monitoring or care packages.
We have a reputation locally for the high quality of its services. We hold the national advocacy quality mark. We may be small, but we are effective, enthusiastic and innovative.
What will you be doing?
We are all dedicated to ensuring that the aims of the organisation are achieved and that people's rights are upheld. One of the trustees has been on the management committee, in various roles, since the organisation was founded 29 years ago. Their hard work was recognised when DeVA selected them for ‘trustee of the year winners’ at the Devon Community Foundation volunteer of the year awards ceremony. Our Board needs to encompass a wider range of skills, especially around strategic planning and marketing in order to drive the success of our development project. What are we looking for?
We are looking for passionate people to join our Board. You don't need to have a background in health and social care or in supporting people who have a learning disability, but you must share our passion for ensuring people's rights!
We particularly wish to broaden our skill base of the Board to support our Chief Officer through the development of the organisation.
Key areas are skills in income generation, strategic and business planning, marketing and communications. We would welcome a Trustee with finance/ accountancy background to take on the Treasurer role in due course.
In terms of planning for the future, our Chair would like to have a succession plan in place, should she decide to step down in a few years time, and it would be good to recruit trustees who might be interested in and be suitable future leaders for the charity.

About us:
The Olive Branch Counselling Service (reg charity 1140475) is based in central Winchester, serving the community of Hampshire over the last 27 years. We provide subsidised counselling services for adults (over 18) who are experiencing mental health issues, via weekly therapy sessions. Our beneficiaries have gone through a range of difficult lived experiences, including loss, abuse, poor health and the current cost of living crisis. We’re a small charity with 4 part-time staff and aim to help 300 people in 2024. We recently secured a multi-year grant from the National Lottery, putting us on a more secure financial footing for 3 years. We still need to raise a further £30,000 in 2024. We have 44 volunteer counsellors supporting our clients, who are committed to helping people in need, and in turn we support their continuous professional development by funding their counselling supervision.
Role overview:
The Olive Branch Counselling Service is welcoming Trustees to join our Board of Directors. Trustees play a vital role in making sure that The Olive Branch achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that the service has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, the Trustees support and challenge the Clinical team to enable the charity to grow and thrive to achieve our mission.
Duties and responsibilities
• Support and guide our charity’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
• Approve operational strategies and policies, monitor and evaluate their implementation.
• Oversee charity’s financial plans and budgets, monitor and evaluate progress.
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.

What we are looking for
We are looking for people willing to bring their time, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to The Olive Branch Counselling Service. We particularly need help in accessing more funding opportunities through sponsorships, grants, community fundraising and local business links. If you have skills or expertise in areas such as communications and engagement, financial management, fundraising or governance, we would love to hear from you. Most important is having the time and being willing to be pro-active with directly supporting the work of the charity. You do not need previous charity governance experience - a full induction will be provided.

About the Role
The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. We work with individuals, families, partners, and communities to improve people’s lives in a sustainable way, empowering people experiencing multiple barriers to achieve positive change.
We currently employ over 120 staff, 40% of whom are ‘experts by experience’ and have joined us through our volunteering programme. We are recognised as being innovative and recovery focused, and our services have been highlighted nationally as examples of best practice in the sector. Our portfolio of services and projects are constantly evolving in response to the changing needs of our service users and our local communities. Currently this includes recovery focussed drug treatment services, housing and resettlement support, access to education, training, and employment (ETE), volunteering programmes, support for people engaged with criminal justice services and befriending/mentoring services for people with significant barriers to recovery and community reengagement.
What will you be doing?
Our Trustees play a pivotal role in governing the Bridge Project. They are responsible for setting our strategic vision and priorities, ensuring our financial sustainability, and providing guidance and oversight to our operations. Our Board is committed to excellence, and we are looking for new individuals to bring fresh knowledge and experience to join us in this important work. We’re committed to creating a Board which is representative of the communities we support, bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. These are divided into local areas that we call divisions. Each branch has a secretary to organise day-to-day activities. This is a key role involving administration and coordinating people. As the first point of contact for SSAFA in the area you will play a crucial part in promoting SSAFA locally, organising local events and ensuring the smooth running of SSAFA across the divisions in your branch.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
In recognition of our clients’ service to the Nation we aim to provide financial, practical and emotional support when it’s needed most. To do this we need local branches and volunteers who can match clients to volunteers and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about coordination and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role would suit someone looking to offer a regular time commitment each week. You would also need to organise and attend a number of regular meetings each year.
What would you be doing?
- Managing the branch office (if applicable) and providing support to all volunteers, especially new ones
- Work with the branch Chairperson, treasurer, and others to ensure smooth running of the branch.
- Accepting referrals and coordinating SSAFA caseworkers, visitors, and helpers accordingly
- Oversee all SSAFA casework across the branch ensuring clients get support that is effective and timely.
- Monitor volunteer numbers against the demand for support and recruit new volunteers as needed
- Working with the local training officer to ensure all volunteers are kept up to date with the training and information they need.
- Build relationships with regional and central office staff to ensure an effective flow of information.
- Maintaining accurate records of volunteers and cases, submit accurate data to Central Office
- Providing administration for an annual programme of meetings including an AGM, recording, and implementing decisions
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser.
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

What training and support would you receive?
- Role specific training to prepare you for your voluntary role - confidentiality and boundaries, personal safety, caseworker training, caseworker IT system training, volunteer management – attracting, recruiting, and inducting volunteers, volunteer management – case management and quality. This training would take approx. 4 days.
- Mandatory on-line training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep clients, their families safe and personal information safe.
- Access to a range of e-learning courses as well as local opportunities to keep your training up to date.
- Support from the Chair of the branch
- Access to the Welfare Team and Volunteer Support Team based at our central office.
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.
What are we looking for?
- Friendly and approachable people of any age (18+) with some experience of coordinating people and admin
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with clients, their family, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues.
- Ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address.
- Ability to coordinate a team of people volunteering.
- Willingness to use our on-line case management system (this is covered in the training course)
- Ability to keep within boundaries of the role with regards to reporting any safety concerns etc
- Reliable attitude, contact clients and volunteers promptly, keep appointments etc.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep information safely.
- Access to public transport or a car to travel to meetings, events etc.

We are seeking two new lay members with expertise in the field of finance. The Association of Anaesthetists (the Association) represents the life-changing, life-saving profession of anaesthesia – by supporting, informing and inspiring a worldwide community of over 10,000 members.
Founded in 1932, the Association is the only anaesthesia membership association covering the whole of Great Britain and Ireland and represents the largest medical specialty in the NHS. We are an organisation of, and for, anaesthetists, providing member services at all career stages.
The Finance, Audit, Risk & Investment Committee plays a key role in the organisation’s financial governance. Operating under the brand name the Association of Anaesthetists (the Association) are two separate legal entities: the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland and its registered charity, the AAGBI Foundation, each with its own board of directors or trustees. The Finance, Audit, Risk and Investment Committee reports to both boards and has responsibility for oversight of the consolidated financial position and for financial accounting for each of the two entities.
Lay members bring expertise, judgment and balance which complement the skills of the elected directors and trustees. Their principal assets will be their independence and non-clinical expertise. It is envisaged that the lay member will add value not only to the Finance, Audit, Risk and Investment Committee’s work but to the organisation as a whole.
The role of the committee is to maintain oversight and understanding of the finances of the Association including its finance strategy, annual budget, investments, management accounts and the annual audit.
We are seeking two new lay members with expertise in the field of finance, including: Experience at a senior level in financial strategy and planning; Experience in income diversification and business development in a not-for-profit environment; and knowledge of investment management including investment principles and policy setting
