We are looking for two Development Managers to join our Development team focusing on Individual Giving and Trust and Foundation Fundraising.
The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will manage the strategic development of Individual Giving, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. About the opportunity
Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future. The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. Person specification
This role requires an ambitious, passionate and determined individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Working to deadlines and line-managing three Fundraising Coordinators, exceptional time-management, prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. Introduction
The Prison Reform Trust (PRT) was founded in 1981 to inform public debate and improve prison conditions and the treatment of prisoners, amidst concerns about a projected prison population of 48,000 by 1984. Fast forward to today, the prison population in England and Wales is almost 87,000 and is projected to rise to 106,300 by March 2027. We overuse prison for non-violent and persistent crime, and we choose to send people to prison for a long time, and it continues to grow.
Our mission is clear. We are working to create a just, humane and effective prison system by influencing decision-makers opinion formers and the public to 1) reduce the use of prison; 2) Improve conditions for prisoners and, 3) promote equality and human rights in the criminal justice system.
Income in 2023 was £2.06 million, with most of our income portfolio reliant on trusts and foundations. We have just been through a strategic development period and as a part of that we have uncovered significant untapped potential for philanthropic and relational based income growth. We are now seeking a newly designed, ‘Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy’ to lead the whole fundraising programme, but with a specific focus on developing the philanthropy and corporate programme to take Prison Reform Trust to the next level.
You will be a seasoned relational fundraiser, have entrepreneurial flair, be creative and have the ability to influence at the highest of levels. Bipolar UK are meeting this challenge through peer support, lobbying and research, improving on information, resources and tools to not only help anyone affected by the condition, but to live well and thrive.
Bipolar UK is a rapidly expanding charity with big plans to grow its income and impact over the next five years. We are looking for ambitious and talented individuals who will maximise the opportunity presented by the Bipolar Commission and key strategic relationships. We are looking to grow our network of in-person groups, maximise the impact of our expanding online resources and generate increased income and support from charitable trusts, key partnerships, commissioned income, individual givers and major donors.
Our Part-Time Fundraising Officer will support the organisation's fundraising joining a high performing team of fundraisers.
Job deliverables:
- Identify and maximise opportunities to raise unrestricted and restricted funds from small trusts and other funding bodies to ask for grants up to £10,000
- Plan, prepare and write compelling applications for funding
- Build relationships with trusts, foundations and other funding bodies that help Bipolar UK secure long-term funding and support
- Achieve income targets that support Bipolar UK’s strategic service delivery goals
- Keep accurate records on Salesforce CRM
- With the Trusts Manager, develop our ‘thank you’ processes and donor stewardship programmes
- Create reports and updates for donors that bring to life the impact of their support
- Meet regular deadlines and manage your own workload
- Develop excellent working relationships across Bipolar UK
- Develop and maintain your knowledge of the charity sector and fundraising environment, to keep up to date with changes
- Be administratively self-supporting
- Understand and empathise with the beneficiaries and portray them (and the work of Bipolar UK) with sensitivity and accuracy
- Undertake any other duties that are relevant to the job as requested by the Trusts Manager and the CEO
- Work closely with other members of the fundraising team including the Partnership Development Manager and Strategic Partnership Manager, and collaborate on tasks and projects where applicable

The Portfolio Development & Innovation Manager is part of the new Fundraising Planning team, following the launch of the Three Giants Fundraising strategy. This team is dedicated to putting our audiences at the heart of planning, and innovating to ensure we’re working towards our goals as effectively as possible.
As well as leading the annual review of our Fundraising portfolio, this role will be responsible for developing our new fundraising innovation strategy; working with teams across the organisation to understand what innovation means to the Legion and designing processes and toolkits to embed new ways of working as part of this approach.

This role is offered on a permanent, part-time 4 days a week basis paying a salary of £28,723 (£35,904 FTE) per annum. The position can be either fully remote, hybrid or fully based at their Colchester offices.
The Institutional Trusts and Fundraising Manager will provide strategic oversight and direction for Lepra’s institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets. The postholder will be line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target, and working with the programmes teams in the UK, India and Bangladesh to identify and develop applications to statutory sources and major trusts, leading on the development of detailed project proposals.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working in statutory and/or trusts fundraising, including successfully applying for grants in excess of £50,00 to £100,000+. You will have a demonstrable track record of high quality bid writing and production that meet funder requirements.
