We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Operations Assistant to support our team and ensure the smooth operation of our office. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated professional to join our warm and friendly mental health charity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys providing hospitality, supporting mental health initiatives in nature, and ensuring efficient office and field management. The successful candidate will be responsible for, assisting with nature-based mental health activities, and supporting the team and office needs.

The nature of the role may require flexible hours such as occasional evenings to cover monthly volunteer training evenings and other annual events as necessitated by the needs of the charity.

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature.  We deliver ‘nature prescriptions’ to people referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Our Dose of Nature Prescription Programme is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing.  Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team.  

Key Responsibilities

Hospitality & Wellbeing Support:

• Greet all guests, acting as the first point of contact between the team and external stakeholders visiting 1 Wharf Cottage, namely our clients, volunteers and partners.
• Prepare and serve teas, coffees, and refreshments to clients, volunteers and visitors, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
•  Assist the operations and psychology team with daily administrative tasks, including managing scheduling meetings and client assessments / reviews.
• Assist in the set-up and facilitation of nature-based mental health group activities, providing support to the group leaders and facilitators (where required).
•  Support the team in ensuring a comfortable and supportive workspace.

Event Coordination: 

• Assist in coordinating and executing group sessions, meetings, events and wellness workshops as required.Support logistics, venue setup, and participant coordination for monthly, quarterly and annual events.
• Provide on-the-ground assistance during events, activities and group sessions.
• Oversee the purchase of supplies, including food and drinks, for our monthly volunteer evening events.
• Provide evening and / or weekend support at our bi-annual social events for our client base, volunteers, and donors (dates are always arranged well in advance). 

Operational & Administrative Support:

• Provide general support for the day-to-day operations of the office, ensuring a productive, efficient and well-functioning working environment. Assist the Operations team in scheduling and coordinating client assessment and review appointments, workshops, and mental health activities in nature.
• Act as a point of contact for staff and volunteers, addressing logistical and office needs.
• Manage office supplies, ensuring restocking and organisation.
• Liaise with vendors and maintenance services as needed.
• Provide other general administrative support to the psychology and operations team, including making online orders, liaising with printers, and preparing resources for training events.

• Manage a portfolio of school partners, leading retention strategies and driving new partner negotiations forward.

• Lead on the resolution of issues as they arise and all partner contract negotiations.

• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, including liaising with external bodies (LADO, MASH) to support on-going cases. ​

• Maintain safeguarding logs and develop and deliver training.

• Oversee and improve policies and provide regular touch-points for staff.

• Ensure your knowledge of safeguarding and the education sector is up-to-date, including KCSIE as well as wider sector trends.​

Job Description

You'll be an experienced qualified High Intensity Therapist with BABCP accreditation who likes working as part of a supportive team to help clients who struggle with common mental health problems such as anxiety and/or depression.

You will be responsible for the clinical supervision of Mind and Body Practitioners and CBT Therapists. Supervision will be provided on both an individual and group basis. You will be expected to support the clinical governance of the Mind and Body service.

Essential Skills

• Have a Post Graduate Diploma in an NHS Talking Therapies Course or a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy – plus further post-graduate qualification training in CBT along with significant experience working as a practitioner

We’re looking for someone who wants to join our busy charity to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives. Job Description

The Head of Management Accounting will:

• Lead financial management and reporting for Districts/Departments, ensuring timely and accurate financial information for the Senior Command Team and Business Executive Leaders including revenue, grants, and capital income/expenditure.
• Produce and monitor budgets in line with Force timetables, providing assurance to the Senior Command Team and Business Executive Leaders on financial integrity.

• Driving efficiency's across with the team through ensuring that the line management responsibility model based on one to four/five ratio is fully embedded within the Finance Officers.
• Drive efficiency's by embedding a 1:4/5 line management ratio within Finance Officers, standardising procedures, and reducing reporting variability.
• Lead annual budget planning, working with senior leaders to ensure resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities.

• Implement performance frameworks, reviewing KPIs, and driving continuous improvement across the finance team.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Head of Management Accounting will be/have:

• Qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (C.C.A.B.) or CIMA accountant.
• Significant experience in management accounting and strategic financial planning and working with a finance business partnering model to deliver the outcomes.
• Up to date with current accounting issues.
• Understand personal and professional strengths and development needs and be able to evidence the steps taken to enhance your continuing professional development.
• Ability to interpret complex or detailed legislation, policy or strategy documents to identify financial implications and provide insightful financial advice.
• Strong commercial acumen with the desire to help drive business performance and show the wider business how finance can add value on a day-to-day basis.
• Experience of advising, challenging, and negotiating with senior officers, managers, and budget holders in a confident manner.
• Ability to use a range of communication and influencing techniques to successfully negotiate,collaborate or effect change in relation to matters of a specialist / technical nature.

This is a brand-new role at Shelter, which will give the post-holder the opportunity to head up a new function which is key to support our bold ambitions to grow high value income and provide best in class donor stewardship and experience. In this vital cross collaborative High Value Partnerships position, the role will involve leading and developing our team of subject matter experts in Prospect Research and Development, Fundraising Information and Cases for Support and High Value Events. You will be ensuring all three streams are working in a collaborative, supportive and dynamic manner, underpinning high value income growth and first-class supporter experience.

Furthermore, you will champion and embed best practice in high value fundraising operations, working to develop processes and systems that support fundraising and ensure that fundraisers are equipped with the tools and assets they need to be able to fundraise efficiently and effectively through every step of the donor journey. You will also oversee the implementation and development of a high value fundraising information and stewardship strategy and will ensure the effective translation of organisational plans and work into creative support approaches and communications. You will play a key role in developing and delivering our high value supporter experience, ensuring our donors understand the impact of their donation and feel inspired to donate again.

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced individual who has a strong understanding of high-value fundraising and a proven track record of leading and motivating multi-disciplinary teams, ideally within a fundraising operations environment. You will need to have the ability to identify fundraising opportunities within complex strategic plans and be able to effectively shape these into compelling presentations for potential funders to drive income.

About the team

The newly formed High Value Operations & Stewardship team will sit in the High Value Partnerships (HVP) sub-directorate which is part of Shelter’s Income Generation directorate. It’s an award-winning team that is responsible for all areas of high value income generation across philanthropy, trusts and foundations, statutory funders, corporate partners and legacies to power Shelter’s fight for home.

Shelter’s High Value Partnerships (HVP) team is an energetic group of around 50 talented professionals who collectively raise over £30 million each year through voluntary and statutory income. By harnessing the support, networks, influence, and expertise of our supporters, the team plays a crucial role in powering our mission to fight for home.

As our portfolio of high-value funders continues to grow—and with ambitious targets ahead—we’re building a dedicated operations function to act as the central hub for knowledge, insight, and coordination within HVP. Job Description

The Head of Finance Business Partnering will:

• Lead financial planning and the production of the Force's Medium-Term Resource Strategy and Capital Programme Plan, ensuring alignment with the Strategic Planning Cycle.
• Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Head of Finance, and Head of Management Accounting to ensure departmental strategies align with the Force's financial objectives.
• Provide insightful financial analysis, advice, and assurance to support senior decision-making on resource allocation and funding priorities.
• Ensure the Finance Business Partner (FBP) model is embedded in decision-making, driving the Centre of Excellence (COE) framework across projects, policies, capital, and Oracle systems.
• Collaborate with the CFO during the financial forecasting and strategic planning cycle to incorporate decisions into financial strategies.
• Contribute to the financial sections of the Force Management Statement, ensuring alignment with workforce planning and other Force areas.
• Provide strategic financial support for HMIC inspections and ensure issues are addressed.

• Lead strategic finance initiatives on major projects, ensuring alignment with the Force's broader objectives.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Head of Finance Business Partnering will be/have:

• Qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (C.C.A.B.) or CIMA accountant.
• Recent experience of working within a finance business partnering model or the ability to demonstrate an awareness of what is required to deliver the outcomes of the model.
• Understand personal and professional strengths and development needs and be able to evidence the steps taken to enhance your continuing professional development.
• Ability to interpret complex or detailed legislation, policy or strategy documents to identify financial implications and provide insightful financial advice.
• Strong commercial acumen with the desire to help drive business performance and show the wider business how finance can add value on a day-to-day basis.
• Experience of advising, challenging and negotiating with senior officers, managers and budget holders in a confident manner.
• Ability to use a range of communication and influencing techniques to successfully negotiate, collaborate or effect change in relation to matters of a specialist / technical nature.

The Early Education and Childcare Coalition unites the voices of parents, children, providers, early years professionals and the wider business community, working together for investment and reform of early education and childcare in England. 

We believe that we all benefit from a well-functioning early education system and we all have a role to play in ensuring it works for children, parents and the economy.

We are backed by some of the most high-profile campaign and research organisations in the UK. Our members include early years provider membership bodies, parent campaign groups, early childhood experts, trade unions, the business lobby, anti-poverty campaigners and NGOs. Together, we use our collective voice and research to build public and political support for early education and childcare.

And it’s worked. Thanks to the dedication of our members, early years is now one of the top six priorities for the new government’s Plan for Change, but our work isn’t done – we have an ambitious agenda to ‘rescue and reform’ the system, ensuring that: 

• every child can access high-quality education and care that their parents can afford and that will support them to thrive 

• every provider is funded fairly for the places they offer 

• every early years professional is rewarded and recognised for the skilled work they do 
   

This year we launch a new three-year programme to achieve one of those key aims – raising the status of the early education profession, and we need a Campaign & Programme Manager to help us drive that work. 

About the role

• Hours: 30 hours (4 days per week). Some out-of-hours work may be required for which TOIL will be given. 

• Duration: Two-year contract with possible extension subject to funding. 

• Location: Homeworking, but within easy reach of London 

• Salary: £48,000 per annum FTE (£38,400 pro-rata) 

Although we work remotely with a team that is spread nationwide, this role does require someone based in or close to London in order to deliver our Westminster programme of activities.

We work flexibly and it won’t come as a surprise to you that we understand the challenge of caring commitments. We trust you to manage your time, but we do expect that most of your hours are worked during standard office hours so that we can collaborate as a team and engage with our coalition partners. Our core working day is a Thursday. As a fully remote team this helps us to stay in touch and connect. 

This role is initially offered on a two-year fixed term basis which we expect to renew in line with funding and is offered at four days per week. If you have a preferred working pattern, please speak to us and we would be happy to see if we can make it work. 

The Coalition has experienced significant growth over the last two years and with early years firmly on the political agenda, we expect this to continue. Our hope is that this role will evolve and the successful candidate will continue to progress within this growing and impactful organisation. 

For the last two years, the Coalition has been incubated by the Women’s Budget Group, the UK’s leading feminist economic think tank. Our growth means that we are now ready to spin out into a separate and independent legal entity. That means that your employment contract will initially be with WBG on behalf of the Coalition but will then transfer across to the newly constituted organisation. This won’t change your role, your terms or your pay, but we want to tell you now. We are happy to answer questions at interview about that. 

What you can expect to be doing 

• Whilst the coalition currently has almost 40 core member organisations who shape our policy and lead on our shared campaigns, we are looking to grow our network of supporter organisations – these are partners who share our belief in the value of early education and childcare even if they do not work directly in early years policy. The Campaign & Programme Manager will lead a new project to identify, onboard, engage and grow this supporter network, ensuring they remain up to date with the latest research produced by the Coalition and its partners. 

• Managing the progress of this exciting yet complex programme, ensuring research partners are staying connected and all programme outputs feed into our overarching aims. This will include coordinating update meetings for programme partners and ensuring that we stay on track and meet our aims.

• With the support of the Head of Advocacy and our external comms partner, develop a new narrative to raise the profile of the early education workforce and deliver a series of campaign moments across paid, earned and owned media to support this work. 

• Deliver ongoing comms and campaign projects designed to grow the coalition’s profile across a range of stakeholders. 

• Analyse and scope political developments related to the early education and childcare workforce, identifying opportunities to engage and influence. 

• Support the organisation of Coalition in person and online events. 

• Engage collaboratively with Coalition members to coordinate and amplify their collective and individual voices and work. 

• Support with the creation, writing and publication of communication materials including blogs, case studies, press releases and research reports. 

• Work with our research partners to drive the aims of the programme. 

About you 

You will be creative, resourceful and highly effective at building relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. Above all else, you’ll be as passionate as our members about the opportunity that the early years holds for children, families and wider society. 

You will play a pivotal role in driving the aims of our new programme, with responsibility for ensuring all elements of this complex programme are working in unison. You'll also be delivering campaign moments that raise the status of early educators while amplifying our emerging research from this programme, and activating new messaging and narratives. 

With the support of our Head of Advocacy & Communications, you will grow our network of supporters, securing the backing of organisations from across civil society, the business community and the public sector for our shared aims. 

Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of the challenges facing the sector and a good understanding of key influencers in this space including think tanks, MPs and journalists.

You will be a confident communicator with strong writing skills and an eye for detail. The right candidate will be comfortable working in a small team where we all muck-in and benefit from each other’s skills.
