Job Title: Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager

Salary: £40,000 - £44,000

Contract: Permanent, full-time – 37.5 hours per week

Location: Hybrid, with at least two days a week working from Power2’s office in Manchester or London

Annual Leave: 25 days paid holiday each year

Power2 is a fast growing and energetic children and young people's charity that has supported 27,000 young people since 2001. We are based in the North West of England and London and deliver early-intervention asset-based programmes to children and young people who have mental wellbeing challenges and are disengaged from school and more widely. We are well-known for our accredited Teens and Toddlers programme and are supporting young people via Power2 Rediscover, an intensive 1:1 crisis response programme. Our Power2 Thrive programme focuses on improving mental wellbeing.

We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations fundraiser to join our team at Power2, a fast growing and energetic youth charity.

You will lead on fundraising from Trusts and Foundations and be responsible for relationships, applications and reporting to major Trust and Foundation funders. You’ll lead internal processes for prospect research and have oversight of a growing portfolio of potential and existing donors. You will ensure a consistent pipeline of applications to meet your performance indicators and collate information from across the organisation to produce funder reports.

 You will have significant and demonstrable experience of fundraising from major Trusts and Foundations. You will have excellent project management skills, be skilled at writing compelling funding bids, be highly numerate and a great team player and collaborator. Previous experience or interest in the youth or education charity sector would be an advantage.

We operate hybrid working, and this role can be based at either our North-West (Ashton-under-Lyne) or London office, with at least two days working in the office per week. We offer flexibility as to when the role’s hours are worked, and exact working patterns can be discussed at interview.

Key Responsibilities

Trust & Foundation Strategy Enhancement

• Develop and execute a trust fundraising strategy to increase income and position the Charity as a credible, evidence-led delivery partner for funders
• Meet income targets aligned with the Charity's growth strategy, to fund both core programmes and capital projects, prioritising multi-year funding opportunities
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective funders, ensuring regular and meaningful engagement
• Craft compelling, tailored proposals, applications, and cases for support to secure major grants 

Team Leadership & Development

• Recruit a Trust Fundraiser and Prospect Researcher to support with identifying and evaluating potential donors
• Build a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values equity, wellbeing, and shared purpose 

Relationship Management

• Cultivate and steward relationships with existing and prospective trusts and foundations, ensuring they remain engaged with the Charity’s five-year Impact Strategy
• Provide exceptional reporting to funders, showcasing the impact of their contributions through updates, case studies, and financial reports
• Represent the charity at meetings, events, and site visits to inspire and engage potential funders 

Reporting & Compliance

• Monitor and evaluate the performance of trust fundraising activities, providing detailed reports to Senior Leadership and funders, as required
• Ensure compliance with all relevant fundraising regulations and best practices

Collaboration & Coordination

• Work closely with the Programme Manager and Capital Appeal Manager to develop well-costed, fundable programmes aligned with strategic priorities and with measurable outcomes
• Work closely with wider internal teams, including Programmes, Service Delivery, Finance, and Communications, to gather information, align messaging, and ensure funding requirements are met
• Collaborate with colleagues across other income streams to maximise crossteam opportunities and share insights on high-value prospects
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and tracking of relationships, proposals, and outcomes using the Charity’s CRM system

Knowledge & Experience

• Proven track record of securing five and six figure gifts from trusts, foundations, or institutional funders, including cold prospects, demonstrating confidence in donor acquisition
• Skilled in network mapping, prospect research and business development
• Demonstrable experience of working on major capital appeals or high-value fundraising campaigns
• Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and tailored funding applications
• Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities and align them with strategic priorities
• Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to build and sustain long-term partnerships
• Experience using CRM systems to manage and track donor relationships and activities
• Experience in securing multi-year funding (desirable)
• Experience in line management, with the ability to motivate staff and nurture talent (desirable) 

Role summary:

UK Community Foundations is looking for a part-time Project Manager to support the team on an interim fixed-term basis of 3 months (commencing as soon as possible).

The main purpose of this role is to lead on our Revitalising Trusts Programme which we run in partnership with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. The Revitalising Trusts Programme aims to ensure that inactive charitable trusts are either revitalised, or their assets are transferred to another charity (in the cases we manage, this is typically to a community foundation).

You will be highly organised, proactive and have excellent attention to detail – a completer-finisher who takes pride in seeing projects through to the end. The ability to build strong relationships with member community foundations and the team at the Charity Commission is crucial to the programme’s success. Legal and charity governance experience is not essential but would be an asset to the role.

The successful Project Manager will be asked to provide support to the wider team on other strategic projects as needed, so we welcome an open and flexible mindset.

The role is very flexible. We are largely a fully remote team (with some desk space available in central London, if preferred). We are open to requests for flexible working patterns, e.g. 2 or 3 days per week, or a few hours each day. This is advertised as a 3-month fixed-term contract but there may be scope to extend the role.

Responsibilities:

Revitalising trusts and trust transfers 

• Lead on the delivery of the Revitalising Trusts Programme 

• Work closely with and build strong relationships with the Charity Commission  

• Manage the inactive trusts pipeline, ensuring timely progress 

• Work through various processes required to transfer trusts and trust funds. This will include navigating charity governance requirements and changing bank mandates 

• Ensure clear communications about the programme with all stakeholders as required 

• Provide support to trustees in transferring active and inactive trusts to the network, or another charity when more appropriate 

Dormant charity accounts

• Liaise with the Charity Commission and relevant banks to progress caseloads, ensuring account transfers happen swiftly and legally 

• Lead on distribution of investments to participating community foundations

Wider project management (<10% of the time)

• Provide light-touch support for colleagues leading on other strategic priorities, including an ongoing digital transformation programme

About you:

Skills and experience 

• Experience of working with trusts and good knowledge of charity governance 

• Strong finance skills and an understanding of charity endowments would be desirable

• A track record of influencing stakeholders, key opinion formers and decision makers 

• Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting tasks

• Legal experience is not essential but would be an asset to the role

• Experience of working with the Charity Commission is not essential but would also be an asset to the role

Personal qualities 

• Mature, empathetic, engaging, diplomatic and influential, with the ability to engage with people at all levels, including senior policy/decision makers

• Are you skilled in research and analysis to identify and qualify funding prospects?
• Are you proficient in CRM systems such as Salesforce for relationship and pipeline management, with the ability to interpret pipeline data and deliver strategic income forecasts?
• Are you an outstanding written and verbal communicator, with experience crafting persuasive proposals?
• Do you have excellent project management skills, and are you able to work effectively across teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of partnership commitments
