At West London Synagogue (WLS), we have made a commitment to helping London’s most vulnerable residents regardless of faith and background. This is achieved through delivering direct services to those who need it most. We have identified asylum seekers and refugees as the core communities in which we can have an impact. 

We work closely with Westminster City Council, as well as local and national organisations to identify where our resources can be best focused, where we can bring added value, and where our teams of volunteers can make a meaningful impact. 

We run 2 drop-ins each month. Our Family drop-in welcomes families with children and of all faiths and ethnic origins who are seeking asylum in the UK. We rely on volunteers to help provide a hot meal, grocery vouchers, toiletries, companionship, and advice for families who have fled life-threatening violence or persecution in their countries of origin. 

As well, as our Family drop-in, we run the monthly 'Rainbow' Group.LGBTQI+ asylum seekers in the UK face the same challenges that most asylum seekers face in the UK. In addition, they face further challenges since their sexual orientation WLS opens its doors once a month to provide a safe space for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers to feel a warm community welcome, to build community together, and to receive vital support whilst living in poverty awaiting a decision on their asylum application. 

At WLS we have recognised the unjust and compounded hardships for asylum seekers who are members of the LGBTQI+ community. We aim to create an environment where asylum seekers of the LGBTQI+ community can feel safe, supported, and comfortable.

We are looking for a committed Project Leader who can drive progress, inspire a team of volunteers and make a positive impact to the lives of everyone who attends our Social Action projects.

JRF works to speed up and support the transition to a more equitable and just future, free from poverty, in which people and planet can flourish. We are a UK-wide social change organisation, with a focus on all four nations. Our work is anchored around the reduction of poverty and household economic insecurity. We recognise that both poverty and insecurity are multi-dimensional, with material, social and emotional aspects, and we also consider economic, social and environmental justice to be inextricably linked.

About the role

We organise our Policy & Ideas work around the following issue areas: families, work and care; housing, land and climate; community, place and social security; and macroeconomics and fiscal policy. This role will have a focus on either macroeconomics or fiscal policy, or both, whole also working to support out other policy themes. We want our work to confront the immediate manifestations of poverty and insecurity but also the deeper social and economic conditions on which these rest.

That’s where you come in.

We are seeking two Senior Economists, one full-time permanent role and one 12-month fixed term role, which could be either full-time or part-time. In both roles, we are looking for someone to develop and lead research projects that generate arguments, policies and ideas to address the social and economic challenges that underpin poverty and household economic insecurity in the UK today and chart a course to a different and better future.

You will devise, lead and deliver high quality economic analysis and thinking to JRF’s policy & ideas work and offer a professional economics perspective across the wider organisation – and as a trusted, expert voice externally. You will seek out and connect with people or organisations developing new ideas and strategies that can contribute to our mission; and to develop proposals for how JRF should use its platform and resources to support their development and diffusion.

About you

As a Senior Economist, we would like you to either have a professional economics training or equivalent professional work experience, advanced data analysis skills and the ability to use a wide range of tools and software to undertake large scale and groundbreaking economic analysis (including using micro-data from major national surveys).

With experience of working on policy issues relating to poverty, you will have significant experience of having initiated, designed, led and delivered projects that included original economic analysis that generated a different or better understanding of policy challenges and helped to guide new arguments and ideas. You will be able to think critically and creatively, analyse and problem solve, and contribute to the generation of new ideas and alternative ways of approaching an issue, able to communicate arguments and ideas persuasively, via writing and speaking.

You will have advanced knowledge and critical awareness of economic theory, principles, datasets and analytical techniques and how to deploy these effectively in support of understanding and addressing the drivers of household economic insecurity. With significant knowledge of one or both of macroeconomics or UK fiscal policy and a strong understanding of how policy making works across the UK, devolved and sub-national governments, you will have an awareness and engagement with relevant political, policy and intellectual debates, plus models and approaches to social change.

Supporter Experience Assistant

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £23,875 per annum

The Role

The Supporter Experience Assistant is the first point of contact for supporters and administration tasks. Offering a high level of support, guidance, stewardship to supporters whilst implementing the operational delivery of all departmental transactional requirements related to the delivery of their fundraising and retail activities.

This is a pivotal role in ensuring supporter care and administrative excellence is achieved and maintained in an accurate and timely manner and that all queries are responded to quickly and consistently. Working collaboratively with colleagues from various departments including the finance team the Supporter Experience Assistant will undertake a team proactive approach to all aspects of delivery and immediately identify any potential risks and issues which will jeopardise supporter care and administrative excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a main point of contact in relation to supporter queries and administration tasks, reacting to all incoming queries in a positive and proactive manner.
• Assess supporter needs and offer help and support to minimising the need for multiple point of contact.
• Accurate and timely recording of donations and donor details on their supporter database.
• Be proactive in offering alternative ways to support the charity.
• Providing advice and support to member of the public trying to support the Hospice including problem solving with digital platforms, booking events, processing donations, booking collections/deliveries etc.
• Be proactive in growing supporter engagement, income generation and ensuring add on fundraising methods are captured i.e. gift aid, consents etc.
• Ensure regular provision of accurate income generation records in a timely manner on areas including but not limited to: Stock, Shops, Community, Corporate, Trusts & Foundations, Events, Individual Giving and Lottery.
• Effectively manage all data inputting, administrative and supporter care tasks within the department including maintaining accurate records of donor details and donations made, both digitally and paper based to ensure consistency and accuracy in a timely manner.
• Promote the services of the department at all appropriate opportunity.
• Assist with the management of all databases/CRM systems to enable accurate reporting measures to be undertaken.
• Maintain files and documents, archiving duplication and unnecessary files, where appropriate.
• Undertake regular file audits.
• Respond to all administrative queries and requests in a timely manner.
• Assist with the management of the department email inbox responding to contact requests and distributing the workload to relevant team members.
• Undertake any additional activities elsewhere in the charity as required and within your capability.
• Report any concerns or possible improvements to the relevant Head of Department.
• Support and attend the Hospice events and appeals.

Skills and Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in a customer service environment
• Previous experience in fundraising
• IT literate
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors through written and verbal communication
• Experience working with CRM systems.

The Opportunity:

This is where this new role comes in: The Head of Fundraising will play a crucial role in supporting the stewardship of the current donors while also securing the vital resources needed to realise our bold ambition and help us transform the lives of millions of young refugees and conflict affected youth across the globe.

• Proven experience in a senior fundraising management role within the non-profit sector, ideally within international development.

• A proven track record of success in fundraising, particularly in developing and executing complex fundraising strategies for a growing non-profit organisation.

• Experience developing and implementing multi-year income generation plans.

• A strong history of securing six-figure, multi-year grants and contracts in the UK and internationally, with an annual income generation of £1m+.

• Senior-level experience managing relationships with multiple, diverse funders and donors.

• Experience writing successful partnership bids, grant proposals, cases for support, and theories of change.

• Experience in leading change in a growing organisation.

• At least three years of experience leading and managing a team, with a track record of developing and supporting staff.

This full time, fully remote position offers a salary of £50,000-55,000 if you are a UK resident. If you reside in a different location, the salary will be adjusted accordingly. This is a rare, unique and exciting opportunity to take a lead role in developing the programme and setting the strategic path for the Western Forest – the first new national forest in over 30 years.

The Western Forest is a brand-new programme launched, with national and Ministerial profile, in March 2025. The Forest will support over 2.5 million people, cultivating a greener, more connected future by creating a landscape with trees and woodlands at its heart. The Western Forest will deliver landscape scale change and real green investment, connecting people and nature across three regions – Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the West of England (including North Somerset).

The Western Forest’s Head of Funding and Green Finance will drive, direct and manage the delivery of a diverse range of funding sources to deliver the new national forest. They will ensure the development of sustainable income streams and models of delivery by 2030. This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Western Forest’s fundraising strategy to generate £13mn or more in additional income over the next five years to ensure effective long-term delivery of our strategic plan.

Reporting directly to the Western Forest Director, the Head of Funding and Green Finance plays a key role, helping to set the direction for the Western Forest.

Salary: £50,000-50,146, with annual pay review

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working hours

Strategic Community Engagement & Leadership 

• Lead the development and delivery of YBF’s community services strategy in line with organisational priorities and the needs of our members. 

• Drive forward inclusive and meaningful community engagement, ensuring services are informed by local voices, lived experience, and insight. 

• Strengthen YBF’s position as a key community convener and trusted partner across Barnet’s VCFSE and statutory sectors. 

Membership Support & Capacity Building 

• Provide oversight and innovation in YBF’s membership offer, including training, networking, and 1-to-1 support. 

• Lead on developing and managing strategic partnerships that benefit the local community and YBF members. 

• Support member organisations in accessing funding, building resilience, and improving impact measurement. 

Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact 

• Oversee the measurement of outcomes and the collection of community intelligence, aligning activity with YBF’s Theory of Change. 

• Ensure YBF’s community engagement activities are evidence-based, inclusive, and high-impact. 

• Prepare reports, case studies and recommendations to inform internal planning and external reporting. 

Stakeholder & Partnership Development 

• Represent YBF at senior stakeholder forums, including local authority meetings, networks, and strategic collaborations. 

• Support the CEO in developing and delivering YBF’s stakeholder engagement plans in collaboration with internal teams. 

• Ensure open and accessible pathways for the community to shape and engage with YBF’s work. 

Team & Organisational Leadership 

• Line manage a team, providing clear leadership, supervision, and support for professional development. 

• Contribute to YBF’s senior leadership discussions and organisational planning. 

• Support cross-team collaboration and continuous improvement across the organisation. 

Person Specification 

Essential 

• Proven track record in community engagement and development within the voluntary sector, or related areas. 

• Significant experience of managing people and services within the charity, community or public sectors. 

• Excellent relationship-building and partnership development skills. 

• Experience using data, insight and impact measurement to inform service design and delivery. 

• Ability to represent an organisation confidently in external forums and high-level meetings. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

• Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism. 

• A collaborative, values-led leader with a passion for community development. 

• Proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Project, etc) 

Desirable

My client is a proudly independent media organisation that champions the need for integrity in journalism, ensuring everyone has access to a fair and trustworthy media. At present they are looking to appoint an interim Finance Director to guide the organisation through a critical transitional period.

Reporting directly into the Chief Executive, key responsibilities will include:

• Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, audit, and risk management
• Provide strategic financial insight to support executive and Board-level decision making
• Responsibility for HR, IT, Investment and Company Secretarial matters
• Support ongoing organisational development and transformation projects

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant and have previous experience of working at board level within the charity sector. Salary: £36,000

About the role 

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Press Officer to work in our fast-paced press office, helping run it to the highest standard. RCS England is one of the most high-profile health commentators in the UK. You will regularly see us advocating for patients and the surgical workforce in the national press. Candidates should have experience of successfully pitching stories to national media and know what makes a good health story. You will have a fluent writing style and be confident working with senior stakeholders to brief them before interviews.

Responsibilities 

·Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with RCS England key messages and priorities.

·Participate in an out-of-hours rota for media enquiries. Time off in lieu is offered for significant out-of-office hours worked.

·Research, write and distribute press releases, features, letters and other editorial material.

·Draft articles, quotes and opinion pieces on behalf of RCS England spokespeople.

·Provide press office support to the Faculty of Dental Surgery and its Dean, as required.

·Brief the President, Council Members and senior managers on issues arising in the media.

·Act as the press lead for key projects such as RCS England guidance or campaigns. Devising and implementing communications plans, sharing project updates with the wider communications team, and maintaining a good understanding of surgical and wider health issues.

·Horizon scan for media opportunities and develop your own ideas for health coverage based on data, insights or RCS England priorities.

·Brief, support and prepare RCS England spokespeople for media interviews.

·Establish and maintain professional and trusted relationships with national and trade journalists.

·Represent the RCS England at internal and external meetings, and maintain professional relationships with press and communications leads at stakeholder organisations.

·Monitor daily media coverage relevant to surgery and the RCS England. This includes pulling together the team’s daily press cuts to be shared with Council members, Trustees, and key RCS England staff by 10am (subject to urgent media enquiries).

·Maintain and update the media sections of the RCS England website, working with the web team to develop rich digital content. Actively participate in developing our social media profile using Twitter, Facebook, and commissioning and editing relevant blogs.

·Produce evaluation reports of media coverage and communications activity.

·Undertake such duties appropriate to the grade, as required by your line manager.

About you 

• Degree educated or proven extensive experience that can demonstrate the essential criteria below.
• At least two years’ experience of working in a press office.
• Experience of writing and editing for a variety of media including print and the internet.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages.
• Demonstrable experience of placing stories in the media.
• Rigour in researching and reviewing content: able to identify key points, summarise findings and report data and conclusions accurately. 
• Excellent writing skills: able to write fluent, compelling copy free from grammatical or other errors.
• Excellent telephone manner: diplomatic and persuasive verbal communication skills.
• Able to prioritise effectively and deliver work to deadlines.
• Demonstrable understanding of journalists’ needs and priorities.
• Ability to understand policy documents and formulate a media response.
• Collaborative and inclusive approach to build relationships with colleagues across the organisation, to encourage timely information sharing with the press office.
• Diplomacy and persuasiveness, to foster the trust of senior spokespeople you are briefing and advising.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and integrity, to protect the College’s reputation for providing accurate and reliable information to the media.
• Strong prioritisation skills and a flexible approach to respond to changing priorities and needs and manage reactive queries.
• Enthusiasm and creativity to seek out interesting stories and pitch them.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Support in the delivery of agreed annual communications plans, as well as supporting the development of in-year comms with the internal staff team when required, ensuring content is in line with the SU brand and strategy.
2. Working alongside the Senior Brand and Communications Coordinator to consult with service delivery staff and elected officers to ensure our communications campaigns are strong and collaborative.
3. Support development of UNSU’s brand and presence across all of our physical sites, and our physical and digital assets, ensuring our brand becomes a trusted and valued partner to our members and the University.
4. Work with the Students’ Union Staff to develop our member's understanding of the Union, its elected officers and how our democratic functions work. 
5. Develop a strong relationship within the Students’ Union with staff, officers and volunteers.
6. Produce video content and copy for our website, email comms and social media channels.
