The Cathedral Chapter is in the process of refeshing its Mission and Vision within a Strategic Development Plan (due to be published in early 2026), and as part of this the Cathedral’s fundraising priorities will be decided and a Fundraising Committee formed to oversee and direct the task of building sustainable income within a fundraising strategy. The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for drafting this strategy and enacting it once complete, and for all other aspects of fundraising at the Cathedral. With the assistance of a Fundraising Officer, the Head of Fundraising will be responsible for delivering the various Fundraising income streams.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Educational
- Degree level, or equivalent experience.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Manager, who  will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the organisation. Able to manage the day-to-day financial analysis and reporting requirements for Money Ready, and provide input for strategic financial planning. Using a business partnering model, ensure all budget holders are fully supported in their roles. Responsible for the delivery of all management accounts, budget, forecasts and donor reporting as well as the annual statutory accounts. Ensure all income and expenditure is accounted for in a timely and efficient manner. Helps deliver Money Ready’s strategic objectives, identifies the key financial risks and develops the internal controls environment.

The Senior Finance Manager will be a member of the SMT. This role will lead or contribute to the implementation of new financial systems, tools, or procedures that improve efficiency, compliance, and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the timely and accurate production of all management and annual accounts and all forecasts in accordance with best practise and statutory requirements.
• A key business partner who provides value added business support and financial insight to the SMT and colleagues throughout the Charity.
• Provides financial insight to development team to assist with fundraising bids, prepare donor budgets, and ensure donor reporting and compliance throughout the grant life cycle.
• Responsible for delivery of all statutory and regulatory compliance, including statutory accounts, certification officer returns, Charities Commission, VAT and all payroll taxes.
• Responsible for fortnightly payment runs processing. Supervise and assist with the sale invoices processing and regular credit control. Monthly reconciliation of all Money Ready’s bank accounts.
• Responsible for monthly payroll including monthly and annual RTI reporting to HMRC, pensions payments, annual payroll processing and relevant reconciliations.
• Work with auditors on preparing the audit strategy and manage annual audit process, providing all the relevant paperwork during the audit process.
• Be a positive change champion for the organisation, identifying key impact areas and priorities and supporting change programmes and strategies in both finance and across the Union as a whole.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns with reconciliations and reporting. Line management, objective setting and performance reviews for direct report.
• Establish and maintain a robust internal controls environment that is fit for purpose but uses a risk-based approach to the establishment of processes and procedures.

Personal Specification

• You will need to show;
• Experience Substantial experience in a finance or accounting role (including at management level) in a not-for profit organisation.
• Substantial experience in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end accounts.
• Substantial experience in processing monthly payroll using QuickBooks Payroll and Sage Payroll.
• Line management experience, including objectives setting and performance reviews.
• Experience in charity accounting principles, especially with regards to grants and restricted funds.
• Demonstrable experience of business partnering with multiple, non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience of establishing financial systems including business plans and budgets.

The Finance Assistant will support the Senior Finance Manager and Finance and Operations Director. They will be responsible for all aspects of sale, purchase and nominal ledger, credit control, payments and various reconciliations. General management account duties will also be required

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the shared inbox and respond to queries to internal and external contacts in a timely and courteous manner.
• Log purchase invoices into the finance system and request authorisation from budget holders, ensuring that documentation is complete and correct.

• Request and reconcile supplier statements.

The Role 

Fundraising and Impact Coordinator

o Assist in the planning and execution of a diverse range of fundraising applications, events and community initiatives

o Support the management of event logistics, including participant communication, volunteer coordination, and on-the-day activities

What the job involves

This is a unique chance to play a pivotal role in driving impactful external communication strategies that support High Value, Philanthropy and Partnerships teams. As a key player in the Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand team, you’ll enable the integration of high value fundraising activities into wider organisational communications, inspiring action to fund life-saving initiatives that help men navigate prostate cancer.

Supporting the Head of Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand and our senior Business Partner in embedding and developing our business partnering model. A major part of the role will be enabling the integration of High Value Fundraising activity into the wider communications plan to enhance results from our communications.

You’ll work closely with our Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships and Appeal teams to help plan and deliver inspiring communications that support our fundraising strategy. From pitching proposals and event promotion to major appeal campaigns, you’ll help build strong relationships with major donors and partners. You’ll also make sure high value fundraising activity is joined up with our wider communications and campaigns to grow fundraising revenue, support our community and improve outcomes for all men affected by and at risk of prostate cancer.

We are looking for a Head of Fundraising to be the sole income lead for a wonderful social welfare charity in West London.

This is London hybrid role, 4 or 5 days and condensed hours requests considered.

The Charity
You would be joining a vibrant, independent local charity providing a range of high-quality services and activities that promote wellbeing, combat loneliness, and empower people to remain independent and engaged in their community. Growing and diversifying fundraising is a strategic priority for them, with high-level board support via their expert, invested Fundraising Working Group.

The Role
The Head of Fundraising is a pivotal leadership role, reporting to the CEO to develop and deliver a strategic Fundraising strategy across multiple income streams.

The fundraising income is currently c£300,000 per year (primarily from Trusts) and they have ambition to grow this to £500,000 over the next three years from a range of sources.

The Candidate

Main Responsibilities:

Leadership

1. As a member of the Operational Leadership Team and wider Senior Leadership Team, work collaboratively and take collective responsibility for the strategic management and leadership of the organisation.

2. Work closely with the CEO, Treasurer and Board of Trustees to facilitate good governance and risk management.

3. Manage, maintain and develop all financial systems and control; increasing their impact and quality, and implementing best practices in financial management.

4. To supervise finance assistants and ensure that they are adhering to financial code of practices.

Financial Management

1. Lead and manage all aspects of the financial cycle, including budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset management, reserves & designated fund management and financial reporting.

2. Work with HR & Payroll Officer to manage and retain oversight of the day to day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger maintenance, including the reconciliation of petty cash, credit cards and all bank accounts on a monthly basis reviewing and approving payment runs and payroll.

3. Work with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to prepare the annual budgets and forecasts.

4. Lead and manage the provision of regular budget monitoring and reports to budget holders.

5. Assist with the budget preparation for funding bids. Manage, monitor and keep track of any grants, funding or commissioned income, working with relevant managers to provide relevant financial information for inclusion in monitoring reports.

6. Lead and manage the provision of quarterly financial reports to the Board and advise them on financial issues as appropriate

7. Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to inform and support organisational management, development and decision[1]making, and funding applications across the organisation.

8. Work with the CEO to prepare medium term financial forecasts for the organisation to support strategic decision-making and delivery of strategic priorities.

9. Lead on the audit process and the preparation of year end accounts to trial balance including preparation of the audit file and the closing down of the accounts on our accounting management system to ensure that the organisation is compliant with legal requirements and good practice.

10. To work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and designated Trustees to advise, review and cost the annual pay award.

11. To provide back-up and holiday cover for the processing of monthly payroll.

12. To work with and support the HR & Payroll Officer in providing payroll information and reconciling payroll monthly.

Governance and compliance

1. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements (e.g. Companies House, HMRC and the Charity Commission).

2. Attend Trustee Board meetings to report on financial matters, including the identification and management of financial risk, and provide any relevant reports.

3. To support the Trustees, SLT and line managers in managing our finances carefully and within our financial means, through provision of advice, guidance, support and training.

4. To be the main point of contact with external auditors.

5. To ensure that robust financial controls are in place, underpinned by appropriate financial policies and procedures and to ensure that they are adhered to and that the organisation is protected from fraud and error.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and experienced sports and challenge fundraiser, to deliver a review of our sports and challenge events programme, identifying new opportunities to grow our income.

Working closely with the Head of Individual Giving and Fundraising Campaigns, you will develop strategies and bring new ideas to grow and develop this programme, potentially including community events – to deliver significant growth in income over the next 5 years.

In this feasibility review, you will analyse our past performance including in well-established, externally organised activities such as marathons and third-party challenge events, and our partner events such as the Terry Fox Runs. You will also assess the feasibility of developing and launching our own-branded events.

During the review, you will line-manage the Sports and Challenge Events Officer to maintain and deliver our current successful events programme and work together on the feasibility review to identify new opportunities for innovation and ways to increase participation. 

You will build key relationships across the department and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, to identify and work through new ways to grow participation and increase fundraising income.

At the end of the review, you will present your findings, making recommendations on the key components for a future sports and challenge programme that reflect our ambitions for growth, with plans to deliver it.

This is initially a fixed term project contract. There is potential for the role to become permanent dependent on the direction and outcomes of the review.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will lead a review of our sports and challenge events programme, including third-party activities such as marathons and challenge events, using data to analyse past performance (income and ROI) and assess the feasibility for developing our own-brand sports, challenge or community events – whilst maintaining the success our current programme of activities.

You will:

• Review, develop and prepare plans to deliver a profitable, engaging and effective annual programmes of sports, challenge and community event opportunities.
• Be responsible for managing the annual available sports marketing budget and contributing to annual budget planning.
• Create innovative new sports and challenge events, designed to attract and retain supporters and develop plans to launch these on time, and to budget.
• Work with Communications and Digital teams to develop comprehensive marketing plans to promote our events, secure participants and increase levels of engagement.
• Work with your team to set targets and monitor progress of fundraisers – and manage their participation in cost-effective ways, to maximise return on investment.
• Support your team to provide excellent stewardship and supporter experience, with pre and post event contact, to encourage repeat participation.
• Collaborate with Development teams to cross sell and identify leads for fundraisers from other areas of fundraising, such as major gifts, corporate, appeals and legacies.
• Be responsible for managing and the personal development of your team, to deliver their campaigns and activities, to agreed objectives and KPIs.

You’ll be a strong communicator with good interpersonal skills and creative flair, who enjoys working with a wide range of people, to bring new ideas and initiatives to life.

• Proven experience and success in a similar role in events or sports and challenges and / or community fundraising

• A proven track record of being results-driven and working to and achieving fundraising targets

• Significant experience of developing and delivering fundraising / and or event plans

• Ability to create and implement marketing plans (online and offline) for events-related activity

• Good interpersonal skills and experience of building and developing relationships with a wide range individuals, colleagues, event committees, and suppliers

• Highly organised and analytical, with ability to cope with competing priorities

The role:

Exposure to youth mental health or a related field will be useful but not essential for the role.

This person will have exceptional levels of emotional maturity, discretion and diplomacy and will be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing. An outstanding administrator with proven IT skills including MS Office, video conferencing and databases, this person will also have a keen eye for detail, the ability to multi-task and to plan ahead and to prioritise effectively. Whilst being able to process quite complex information easily, this person will be able to communicate simply and positively and will have a “can do” approach to their work. Experience of guiding and advising grant applicants will be important in addition to being responsive to others’ needs whilst being flexible and adaptable in a constantly evolving environment.
