We are seeking a dynamic and motivated leader to join our Senior Leadership team as Chief Operating Officer / Head of Central Resources. This is a key role managing and continuously improving our central operations, enabling the Trust to maximise our impact. Scope of role

We recognise the scope of this role is wide and we are open to working with the successful candidate to flex the span of their initial responsibilities dependent on their individual strengths. While we are ideally seeking an experienced Senior Leader who can deputise for our CEO and oversee daily operations as Chief Operating Officer, we have deliberately set the Job Specification requirements broad. We are open to considering outstanding candidates with ‘potential’ and investing in their growth and development, so long as they demonstrate motivation and willingness to learn as a charity leader.

The final Job Description and Job Title will be agreed with the successful candidate. We have included a wide salary range to reflect this flexibility, and the salary offered to the successful candidate will be dependent on experience and level of responsibility.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter, and someone who is passionate about the work of CJA members. 

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will monitor and map the criminal justice policy landscape, tracking developments across the system. They will engage with MPs, civil servants and key stakeholders, bringing evidence from our membership and the voices of those impacted directly by the criminal justice system to government to influence change.

The postholder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have demonstrated evidence of impact in policy and public affairs. They should be confident in building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, be a collaborative and inspiring team player, show commitment to our values and share a passion for the CJA’s vision and mission.

Main responsibilities

Public Affairs (50% time)

• Develop and implement the CJA’s public affairs and influencing strategy to advance the CJA's objectives.
• Work with CJA members on influencing specific legislation, including campaigning around bills, writing amendments, and working with MPs and Peers to promote them within the legislative process.
• Stakeholder engagement (Parliament): Build and maintain relationships with key policy makers and parliamentarians through face-to-face meetings, providing briefings to MPs and Lords for Parliamentary debates, preparing written/oral questions, and attending Select Committees, APPGs, Parliamentary receptions and other relevant roundtables and events.
• Stakeholder engagement (other): Build and maintain relationships with other key stakeholders, including Police & Crime Commissioners, the Victims Commissioner, HM Inspectorates, civil servants, and other relevant bodies.

Policy and Research (40% time)

• Monitor policy and political debates and developments on criminal justice issues, horizon-scanning emerging policy issues, and where appropriate, disseminate and brief colleagues and CJA members.
• Maintain a repository of evidence briefings from CJA members.
• Identify proactive and reactive opportunities to promote and embed CJA and members recommendations and research.
• Produce high quality and influential policy briefs, reports, position papers, and responses to consultations, to advocate for changes in policy and practice put forward by CJA members.
• Lead on the monitoring of policy engagement and impact by using our evaluation tools and work with external evaluators as required to capture impact and utilise learning.
• Work with CJA members, people directly impacted by the justice system and other key stakeholders to harness and amplify their expertise and insights.
• Lead the co-ordination and establishment of member expert groups to inform our policy work.
• Develop opportunities for joint working with researchers / research organisations and manage that partnership work, including co-ordinating the CJA research symposium.

Other (10% time)

• Work with the Communications and Engagement Manager to respond to media and other communication opportunities to promote the CJA’s work and to contribute to national debate on criminal justice issues.
• Work with the CJA team to recommend and secure relevant speakers and presenters for CJA meetings and events. 
• Support the Communications and Engagement Manager to develop content for the website and other internal and external communications, such as blogs and articles.
• Contribute to the general administration and delivery of CJA programmes, events and overall objectives.
• Work with the Director to support the development of potential fundraising bids and reporting progress to funders.

Background

Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is a well-established charity dedicated to supporting refugees and asylum seekers from anywhere in the world who find themselves in the Royal Borough of Kingston and neighbouring boroughs. Since its foundation in 1991, RAK has been the main provider of direct services to refugees and asylum seekers as well as promoting refugee rights.

RAK aims to support refugees through the process from their initial reception in the borough through to final integration into the local community in order to enable them to live a fulfilling life and become accepted and active participants in our local communities.  We achieve this by accomplishing a variety of outcomes for refugee and asylum-seeking families through delivering a holistic service including advice, information, counselling, education, training, and assistance in access mainstream services and employment opportunities to help them rebuild their lives.

We are looking for a registered solicitor or someone qualified up to level 3, although we will also be happy to hear from people who are qualified up to IAA Level 2 Asylum. We are currently not in a position to support people to qualify for IAA Level 2, so please do not apply if you do not already have it. 

Purpose of the Post

Refugee Action Kingston provides free and independent information and advice on a one-to-one basis to refugees and asylum seekers on immigration (Level 3), welfare benefits, education, training, employment, housing, access to health and social care. Where we cannot help we refer clients to solicitors and other specialist help.

The purpose of this job is to provide an effective and efficient face-to-face Immigration Advice to IAA leve l2 or 3, within the aims, policies and principles of Refugee Action Kingston.  And to provide consultancy and advice to colleagues on Immigration and Asylum issues.

Duties and responsibilities:

Casework

• Provide face to face Immigration and Asylum advice and casework to IAA Level 2 or 3
• Act for the client where necessary by liaising with the Home Office, external agencies and other Immigration Advice providers in progression of a case.
• Negotiate and advocate on behalf of clients with third parties as appropriate, both verbally and in writing.
• Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate
• Know and understand the limits of Level 3 IAA Advice and be prepared to refer or signpost onwards when work reaches these boundaries.
• Ensure that all casework conforms to RAK Advice Service office standards and policies.
• Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, and report preparation

We are looking for a new Office Manager to organise and coordinate administration duties and office procedures in the charity. Your role is to create and maintain a pleasant work environment, ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness, communication and safety. You will be experienced with a variety of office software (such as email tools, spreadsheets and databases) and be able to accurately handle administrative duties.

As the central point of contact for everyone within our charity you will have an overview of many different things, an impeccable working knowledge of the charity and its aims, and will “pitch in” wherever necessary to ensure the charity operates smoothly.

This position is a permanent full time post (40 hours per week) which will be office based in Holderness House, 51-61 Clifton Street, London EC2A 4DW.  The starting salary for the post will be £37,129.00 per annum.

Essential Skills

§  Line management of key administrative staff.

§  Management the office budget, including processing invoices.

§  Upkeep of the charities’ customer relationship management (CRM) system; providing support to users and troubleshooting issues.

The Combined Cadet Force Association (CCFA) is a charity dedicated to the promotion of the ideals and activities of the Combined Cadet Force in schools. Responsibilities and Person Specification:

The Head of Governance will lead the charity’s small Governance and Risk, and Facilities teams. They are responsible for governance, company secretarial, risk management, health and safety, safeguarding, information governance, procurement and contracts management, business continuity planning, and management of facilities and the charity's office and small portfolio of other properties.

The role would suit someone who enjoys a broad remit and working with colleagues across the charity, who can think around issues and implement pragmatic solutions. As the role has a wide remit, the ability to learn quickly will be key. Candidates will need senior level experience of charity governance, risk management and safeguarding, ideally working with adults at risk. Applicants will need to be good communicators, verbally and in writing.

This role is 0.5FTE (17.5 hours per week). There is some flexibility around how the hours can be worked, but hours would normally be worked across 2.5 days a week, with attendance required at specific times for management and trustee meetings. Office attendance will be required on average 2 days a week for meetings and due to responsibility for office management.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & income generation 

· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.

· Corporate & individual giving: Work alongside Service Delivery Manager and Deputy Service Manager to develop relationships with corporate sponsors and individual donors, creating engagement opportunities.

· Donor stewardship: Manage and nurture relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting and impact updates.
