JOB PURPOSE
The Director of Fundraising and Development (Maternity Cover) will provide strategic leadership and direction across all fundraising and income-generating activities, ensuring the charity continues to deliver against its financial objectives and accelerates long-term, sustainable growth across our philanthropic, public, and commercial income streams.
You will bring strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to equip, support, and empower the team through a period of organisational change. You will help the team optimise and make the most of the new organisational strategy, embedding strategic focus, effective decision-making, and collaborative leadership practices across the fundraising leadership group.
You will use your commercial acumen and fundraising expertise to identify opportunities and support the team to recognise, shape, and pursue them confidently and effectively, enabling them to take ownership and drive progress across all income streams. You’ll be responsible for:
- Driving income growth: establishing high-performing income pipelines across all income streams, with a strong multi-year focus, supported by robust data, reporting, and pipeline management.
- Integrating and accelerating public sector and commercial income streams: Ensuring newly integrated income areas are understood, valued and operational across the organisation.
- Embedding and executing a unified, co-owned fundraising and development strategy: Partnering with the CEO, SLT and Board to embed strategic focus, ensure integration, and alignment with organisational goals.

The Director of Fundraising will:

Lead the development of a diverse, sustainable fundraising strategy across multiple income streams (trusts and foundations, major donors, individual giving, community, corporates, legacies).

Play a key role in the development and execution of Mission 44’s new Motorsports strategy, to create access opportunities for young people from underrepresented backgrounds within STEM sectors, particularly motorsports.

Build trusted relationships with key motorsport employers and stakeholders, including F1, F1 teams, FIA, and relevant STEM employers, to drive sector-wide change, focusing on increasing demand for underrepresented talent, adoption of inclusive recruitment practices, and awareness of Mission 44’s work and impact.

Apply and continually improve the convening strategy and toolkits to Mission 44’s STEM work, helping determine when and how convening can most effectively support our goal of inspiring and supporting young people (aged 14–30) in the UK and US to access careers in STEM and motorsport.

IRC UK is part of the IRC global network, which has its global headquarters in New York. Our team in the UK works to raise profile, deliver policy and practice change, and increase funding to help restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. The Purpose of the Role
IRC’s External Relations (ER) department brings together Fundraising, Communications and Policy & Advocacy functions. With the aim to raise money, awareness and influence for crisis-affected populations worldwide, the department combines knowledge and expertise across multiple national markets.
The IRC fundraising teams are comprised of colleagues and teams working in the USA, UK, Germany, Sweden and Korea as well as emerging markets delivering direct marketing, content, account management, philanthropy, board liaison, corporate as well as trust and foundation partnerships to support IRC’s national fundraising strategies.
The IRC’s private fundraising capability in the UK has grown significantly over the past five years. Ambitious growth plans are in place to deliver increasing income from the private sector as part of an exciting global External Relations strategy.
The Director of UK Mass Markets is responsible for the leadership and direction of the Mass Markets team in the UK and for securing long-term sustainable income for the IRC through individual donor acquisition, retention and supporter care. You will lead and develop a high-performing team by growing mass marketing audiences and income, developing exciting and targeted campaigns, identifying opportunities for product, channel and audience diversification, and championing UX and a supporter centric fundraising model. Key Accountabilities
· Aligned to the overall Global External Relations Strategy, develop, implement, monitor and report on IRC UK’s fundraising and supporter engagement strategy.

Purpose of the Role
This is an opportunity for the right person to join the Refugee Migrant Centre (RMC) as an experienced Bid Writer. RMC is an established, award winning, regional charity, renowned for its work with refugees and migrants.
For over 25 years, RMC has assisted thousands of refugees and migrants from 164 countries. It has helped to remove the barriers to integration, helping its clients become equal citizens, using a whole-person approach to the delivery of services from specialist legal advice through to education and employment programmes.
This is an exciting time to be joining the team, as RMC are strengthening and expanding its infrastructure following a period of growth in staff, activities and turnover (from £2.7 to £4.3 million in the last few years).
We are keen to hear from candidates currently working in fundraising roles for third-sector organisations, who would relish the opportunity to secure funding for our cause.
Main Responsibilities
· Prospect research - to research potential funders to apply to who fund our work
· Write high quality applications
· Applications to Trusts & Foundations, Lottery, Statutory funders, social investment organisations and other funding bodies.
· To work within the fundraising department and support team members with proof reading and guidance on their applications.
Person Specification
You will be educated to at least degree level, have at least five years experience and a successful track record of delivering substantial fundraising results at a senior level. You should be able to demonstrate skills and competency in the following areas:
Strategic thinking and analytical skills to:
· quickly and proficiently absorb new information and data to draw insightful conclusions.
· Develop well-written applications that meet funders priorities
Strong planning and operational delivery to:
· translate strategy into deliverable operational plans;
· be well-organised, able to prioritise and have good attention to detail.
Good communications skills to:
· represent RMC at high-level meetings with a broad range of stakeholders and funders;
· articulate complex ideas simply and effectively; and
· have excellent oral, written and presentational skills.
Collaborative team player who:
· works effectively with colleagues to establish positive working relationships;
· is flexible and can adjust to changing priorities; and
· has a strong work ethic, is calm under pressure and has a can-do attitude

Position: Community Fundraising Manager Scotland & North England
Type: Full-time (35 hours a week), permanent
Location: Homebased (Covering Scotland & North England will be expected to travel widely within this area as part of the role)
Salary: £33,044* per annum plus excellent benefits

*you’ll start at our entry point salary of £33,044* per annum, increasing to £35,109* after 6 months service and satisfactory performance and to £37,174* after a further 6 months.
