About the role

As the Head of Philanthropy, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to meet targets, nurture relationships with donors, and engage new supporters. You will have the opportunity to cultivate, solicit, and steward your own prospect portfolio to secure funding for the charity's strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities include making recommendations to shape the strategic goals of the multi-year fundraising campaign, developing and implementing the major donor engagement strategy, and working with senior stakeholders to grow and manage your portfolio of major donor prospects. Additionally, you will be responsible for expanding the program of major donor events and engagement activities, ensuring due diligence on prospective major donors, and contributing to department-wide planning.

About you

To excel in this role, you should have a substantial track record of meeting income targets in fundraising or an equivalent results-oriented environment. You should also possess an entrepreneurial approach, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, budget management, and events management.

Success in this role will be measured through the development and implementation of the major donor engagement strategy and your level of engagement with your prospect portfolio. You will also play a key role in strengthening major donor relationships through face-to-face meetings.

As a local mental health charity Buckinghamshire Mind has been working for  110 years to stand up for better mental health in Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire. We are an independent charity, proud to be affiliated with national Mind and play our part in the Mind federation.

The role will be a stimulating and inspiring opportunity for an experienced equality and discrimination lawyer to work pro actively and strategically to use the law as a tool for change. 

BEO is a civil rights charity that was set up to challenge and dismantle systemic racism. We work with Black communities by using campaigning, policy and research in conjunction with the law to effect meaningful change. 
Legal services are central to BEO. We are therefore looking for someone of 4yrs PQE who has experience in social welfare, human rights, public and administration law and who seeks an opportunity to use those skills specifically in the area of challenging systemic racism. 

In the last year we have been developing our relationships with partner organisations, ranging from community groups, our stakeholder law firms, NGOs and law firms experienced in equality and discrimination law, to deliver legal services. The role holder will be required to build on and expand these relationships so that BEO can offer quality legal advice to Back communities in the nations and regions across the United Kingdom. 
We are building our internal legal team so that we can provide targeted legal support to Black communities. We are looking for someone to work with the Director of Legal Services and Policy to ensure that high quality legal advice, support and representation are the hallmark of BEO. 

Apart from delivering targeted legal advice and representation and identifying and running strategic litigation cases, the role holder will be required to think creatively to assist in fundraising and campaigning to develop a sustainable legal service. BEO does not have a Legal Aid Agency contract so self funds all legal work. Every year thousands of students volunteer to build communities around activities and social issues that are meaningful to them. These volunteer student leaders have a huge impact on the student experience of thousands more of their peers, as well as hundreds of people in the University’s local community. The Student Development Team aims to create opportunities for students to build and participate in communities that are inclusive, sustainable, ambitious, and impactful, and the Senior Volunteer Coordinator will play a key role in achieving this vision for our student leadership programmes.

In collaboration with a second Senior Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll be leading on a series of volunteering programmes that we’re really proud of. Since September 2023, student volunteers have raised over £150,000 for charitable causes, given over 2,800 hours of their time to volunteer directly in the local community, and broadcast an award-winning radio station, among other achievements. As the Senior Volunteer Coordinator you will coordinate the onboarding, skills development, and tailored support for volunteer student leaders who, in turn, coordinate their own volunteer teams. Responsibilities:

HR & Operations

● Manage Coney’s operations, resources and materials to ensure our activities and processes are high-quality, fit for purpose and well-managed.

● Support the Directors to engender positive staff relations and good communication throughout the company, those representing it and its networks.

● Oversee Coney’s remote-working and office systems, including IT systems, schedules and other resources, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and cost-effective.

● Manage Coney’s statutory obligations with Companies House, the Charities Commission and other bodies and regulatory authorities, with support from the Directors.

● Maintain regular communication with Coney’s Trustees, ensuring that Board meetings, minutes, reports and information are prepared effectively and on time. 

Financial

● Manage Coney’s day-to-day financial systems, including making bank payments and managing invoices receivable, supported by the Marketing & Admin Officer.

● Reconcile Coney’s bank accounts and input all financial activity into Quickbooks (including income & expenditure, credit cards, expenses, invoices payable, payments received) against the correct budget lines. 

● Run payroll (including sending payslips and other pay documents, scheduling salary payments and reporting to HMRC) and ensure pensions, PAYE taxes and National Insurance are calculated and paid on time.

● Create and submit quarterly VAT returns using Quickbooks

Stakeholder Management & Fundraising

● Work alongside the JCEOs to maintain high level contact and dialogue with Coney’s key stakeholders.

● Manage Coney’s Friends scheme and support effective communication with funders.

● Alongside the rest of the core team, identify opportunities for fundraising, commercial projects and consultancy, building relationships and contributing to funding proposals as required.

Marketing & Communications

● Support the Marketing & Admin Officer and Executive Programme Director / JCEO to prepare and execute a marketing and communications plan – strategically positioning Coney’s work across communities and sectors.

● Support the Marketing & Admin Officer to ensure regular communication with Coney networks (newsletters, social media and other relationships) and produce effective communication and ticketing systems for events and projects as required.

Leadership

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent
• 3 - 5 years working at a senior level in a similar role
• Excellent Programme Management experience with excellent budget management skills
• Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at effectively engaging people across a range of settings – from school children to Prime Ministers and Presidents;
• Educated to degree level of equivalent (relevant subject area)
• Team player, able to work cross disciplinary with artists, experts, academics, key stakeholders, and audiences in a programming function working with diverse audiences
• Specialist knowledge of audience development gained through 3 years’ experience
• Agile approach to work, recognising the limitations and challenges of running a small charitable organisation and willingness to work flexibly to get things done, apply effort and integrity at all times. Regular weekend and evening work will be required.
• Experience of working with an operations team to deliver events (production, tech requirements, artist management)
• Experience of delivering to funder obligations (Trusts and Foundations/Public and Private Funding) • Excellent network in publishing; cultural and creative sector; or other relevant sectors

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

You will be working as part of the Older Looked-after Young People (OLYP) team in Horsham looking after young people aged 16 -17 in a warm and homely environment. Young people come to us from a variety of backgrounds and have various and often complex needs. The team is made up of passionate and caring individuals, who work together to provide holistic support to the young people in our care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our specialist supported accommodation is a safe and secure environment where young people are supported to acquire the necessary skills in preparation for living independently and can safely explore their increased freedom and develop the responsibilities associated with adulthood.

As a Supported Housing Support Worker you will hold a caseload of residents, working with them on a one-to-one basis with also facilitating group work sessions. You will identify their needs by listening to them, with employing psychologically informed approaches to enable residents to make better choices and take responsibility for their actions. You will work closely with other services such as, Social Services, Police, Probation, education providers and local organisations. Our projects already have excellent working relationships with these services, and your role will build on these. You will be helping them to improve their practical living skills such as cleaning, budgeting, managing behaviour, seeking, and securing employment and making wise decisions. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. 

Based on site, this role is on a seven-day rolling rota, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

This is a dynamic and varied role; you will be passionate about being involved in the support and growth of young people. Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience of working with young people, knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, along with an awareness of all aspects of safeguarding. You will enjoy working in a client facing role, with the ability to self-motive to drive to deliver an outstanding service. You will be an effective communicator who is able to deliver robust, clear handovers and build strong relationships with other members of your team. In addition, you will have the ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.

As our Growing Minds Family Coordinator, you will help promote and deliver the work of the Growing Minds project – a collaborative, place-based project to support children’s development, from birth to five. In this role you will work directly with families, in our project area – Littlemore, in Oxford. This may include contacting families to engage them with our offer of support, assessing families support needs, providing in home support, and supporting families to attend local groups and other activities.

· Have experience working in a family support role

· Have safeguarding experience

· Have a strong understanding of the needs of families with young children

· Have knowledge or experience of supporting children’s early learning and development

· Have experience of being or working with volunteers

· Have experience of running groups for children and parents

· Be able to work collaboratively and build strong networks within the local Littlemore community and with other agencies and funders

· Be able to put people at ease and embody the Home-Start ethos of no judgement and #RealLifeParenting.

Hours of work: 25 hours per week

Salary: £28,282 (FTE), pro-rata for part-time hours
