The Finance Manager will play a crucial role for the organisation, with responsibility for the charity’s finance function including day-to-day management and book-keeping as well as providing strategic support for the CEO. You will produce quarterly management reports in line with YCAT’s reporting framework, create project budgets and reports for funders, prepare the annual statutory financial statements and lead the relationship with the charity’s external auditors.

This role requires practical, hands-on experience of delivering the wide range of finance and accounting services required by a small business or charity; an excellent understanding of Accounting Principles; a knowledge of charity SORP and charity statutory accounting are highly desirable; solid experience of the audit and preparation of annual financial accounts are essential; you must already hold a full qualification in either AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA; practical experience of preparing management and statutory reports is required; and experience of advising senior leadership on finance matters to inform strategic planning.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DELIVERY OF MOTORSPORTS ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY (70%)

• Play a key role in the development and execution of Mission 44’s new Motorsports strategy, to create access opportunities for young people from underrepresented backgrounds within STEM sectors, particularly motorsports.

• Build trusted relationships with key motorsport employers and stakeholders, including F1, F1 teams, FIA, and relevant STEM employers, to drive sector-wide change, focusing on increasing demand for underrepresented talent, adoption of inclusive recruitment practices, and awareness of Mission 44’s work and impact.

• Apply and continually improve the convening strategy and toolkits to Mission 44’s STEM work, helping determine when and how convening can most effectively support our goal of inspiring and supporting young people (aged 14–30) in the UK and US to access careers in STEM and motorsport.

• Collaborate with the Engagement Directorate, nonprofit partners and corporates to design and deliver high-impact STEM career experiences at Formula 1 races and other key events - some of which will be international - ensuring alignment with Mission 44’s objectives and offering young people meaningful exposure to career pathways.

EXTERNAL REPRESENTATION AND ENGAGEMENT (20%)

• Represent Mission 44 at Motorsport industry events, donor meetings, clearly articulating our global mission and impact with tailored messaging for each audience.

• Support cultivation and stewardship efforts as requested by the Engagement Directorate, engaging prospective donors and prioritising meetings that deliver the greatest strategic value.

• Advocate for Mission 44 at high-profile events and stakeholder meetings, championing greater industry engagement and driving impact.

• Support our storytelling and communications efforts to highlight success and progress while spotlighting challenges to potentially shape future advocacy.

MONITORING AND LEARNING (10%)

• Support the Head of Impact, STEM Pathways and the Head of Strategy and Learning to collect key impact data.

• Contribute to evaluation processes, seek and develop opportunities to raise awareness of Mission 44’s work to create early career pathways for young people.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing critical, executive administrative support to enable the Executive Director and SteelWatch Leadership team to operate effectively. The Executive Assistant will be a vital team member, ensuring smooth operations across executive functions and key organisational processes. The Executive Assistant reports to the Operations Director and works closely with the Executive Director on day-to-day priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The role is focused on supporting the Executive Director and SteelWatch Leadership team on a number of tasks, not limited to:

Executive Support

• Stay up to date on ED priorities and tasks. Manage diaries, schedule appointments, set up meetings accordingly, adapting to priorities.
• Organise and book travel arrangements according to diary needs, ED needs, and internal policies.
• Arrange and prepare for meetings with external partners, allies, industry experts, donors and industry meetings, handling logistics (timing, location, travel, virtual arrangements) and ensuring advanced preparation where needed.
• Draft supporting materials (e.g., presentations) and assist with minute-taking, ensuring team input.
• Track and manage written communication with key external contacts, including funder updates.

Governance and Operational Activities

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience of executive support and a proactive, creative and tactful approach to making logistics and relationships run smoothly in a busy, evolving, international organisation, and must be happy working in a fully remote environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location/remote working

• The position is fully remote with some occasional face-to-face time with colleagues, particularly the Executive Director and Operations Director.
• The UK is the preferred location due to ease of travel and contracting, but we will also consider exceptional applicants located in Belgium and the Netherlands.
• The successful applicant must be based in a time zone within one hour of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
• Being within a four-hour train journey of London is strongly preferred to facilitate travel and in-person collaboration, though we will consider exceptional candidates outside this range.

Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. About the role

This role will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. The post-holder will work very closely with legal, operations and administrative staff. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who will support the role with grant fund management and overall accounting functions for CCLC. The post-holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children’s Rights and department heads in the successful maintenance of our relationship with the Legal Aid Agency. Where appropriate they will be deputising for the Managing Director on legal aid and financial matters.

The role would suit a highly organised and efficient legal, or a finance or billing professional with solid experience of legal practice and a deep understanding of the challenges of legal aid. Whilst candidates with direct experience of legal billing (and more specifically civil legal aid billing) are welcomed, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, this role could suit a highly experienced solicitor who appreciates the important role developing sustainable businesses plays in ensuring access to justice and who therefore wishes to move into practice and financial management. They will need an aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems. However, they will be well supported through training, an enthusiastic and competent junior billing team, the central finance team and an outsourced legal cashiering company, as well as a friendly and collaborative management team including the Managing Director and the Heads of Education Law, Community Care Law and Immigration and Asylum Law.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the billing team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period and there will be flexibility over how the three days will be spread across the week (within working hours). The Researcher is a new, important post at Arthritis UK. We are looking for a full time Senior Paralegal to work alongside our Head of Regulation, dealing with concerns relating to our Registrants' fitness to practise. The role will support from initial receipt of concerns all the way through to final disposal of cases, including tasks such as taking witness statements, preparing bundles, working with Counsel and experts, setting up and clerking hearings as required.

For the right candidate, this is an exciting opportunity to develop legal skills and gain valuable experience of the full end to end Fitness to Practise process within a small healthcare regulator. For those who are working towards legal qualification, we are open to signing off qualifying work experience and can discuss this further at interview.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with relevant legal experience who is keen to join our small and friendly staff team. This is a hybrid role, with at least one day per week (Tuesday) in the office in Archway, London.

1. Evidence of legal qualifications at least to degree level.
2. Relevant legal experience in interviewing witnesses and drafting witness statements.
3. Demonstrable experience in case handling.
4. Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure in a fast – paced environment.
7. Ability to compose documents and bundles in a succinct manner.
8. Ability to assimilate and understand complex regulatory legislation.
9. Ability to work flexibly in a small, close knit, multi-tasking team; working with colleagues and on own initiative with minimal supervision.
10. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection
11. Experience of using Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
12. Willingness and flexibility to work some evenings, and occasional Saturday, to attend meetings or conferences (time off in lieu is given)
13. Commitment to BPC’s aims and objectives.

Desirable
1. Healthcare regulation experience and/or other regulatory settings.
2. Experience in undertaking investigations.
