The role

The Senior PR and Press Officer will raise the voice and impact of the CIPD in media and wider communications activities in pursuit of its core purpose of championing better work and working lives

What you’ll be doing

• Managing incoming media enquiries, ensuring journalists receive a prompt and efficient response and briefing spokespeople to help turn incoming enquiries into opportunities to proactively communicate key messages.
• Maximising media coverage to support the CIPD’s strategic priorities and our research, policy and campaign agenda. This will involve regularly translating policy matters and research findings into accessible news stories that will resonate with different stakeholder audiences.
• Being part of a wider team, which creates and delivers integrated marketing communications campaigns. You will have responsibility for managing the media element of certain campaigns.
• Building and maintaining relationships with trade media, national and broadcast journalists as part of our busy and respected press office. You will also work closely with the editorial team that manage our CIPD magazines: People Management and Work.
• Working with the PR Manager, Head of Marketing Communications, and wider team to protect and enhance the reputation of the CIPD.
• Supporting communications colleagues in our regional and international offices.
• Ensuring that the CIPD’s online media centre is an up-to-date resource for the media, CIPD members and other visitors to the website, and that press releases are distributed in a timely way.
• Proactively placing and writing articles for a variety of media and ensuring all articles from CIPD spokespeople are consistent with the CIPD’s key messages.
• Being part of the team that plan and run the on-site press offices for our annual conferences.
• Building strong working relationships with third party stakeholders, including commercial and strategic partners.

What you’ll need to be successful

• An excellent writer and communicator, able to create compelling copy for a range of audiences and channels.
• Extensive experience and knowledge in media relations.
• Strong awareness of media with good contacts in the national media.
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, juggling competing deadlines and shifting priorities at short notice.
• Ability to provide consultancy to the rest of the organisation, including the senior management team.
• A real team player, able to build relationships with teams across the business.
• Able to represent the organisation when working with media and other stakeholders.
• Has a good understanding of using social media channels to further our key messages and ensure that traditional and social media activities are aligned.

The role

This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. All activities will be undertaken with a priority to conserve the natural spaces we oversee, and to ensure that income generated at each site is reinvested back into the charity/site where it was raised. 

As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for overseeing a diverse and complementary portfolio, including income generation, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications, event and license management, volunteer and engagement programmes, and strategic partnerships. They will lead a newly created team with diverse and complementary roles, fill remaining team vacancies, and create a cohesive approach and narrative. As a member of NLOS’s senior management team, they will work closely with colleagues and the Superintendent to create and implement new opportunities to further improve these four iconic green spaces.

The Development team is responsible for securing significant revenue income from a variety of public, private and commercial funding sources to support the ambitions of Southbank Centre, in close collaboration with all internal departments and external partners. The Patrons Manager role sits within the Philanthropy team which focuses on those gifts from individual donors, usually in excess of £5,000. They manage regular giving schemes such as our Patrons and our Commissioning Committee as well as leading on soliciting restricted major gifts for particular projects.

The successful candidates will work across a variety of responsibilities which includes but are not limited to:

• Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors with the capacity to give gifts of £5,000 and above with a focus on their individual motivations for giving, stewarding them and soliciting them according to their interests and Southbank Centre’s priorities.
• Secure regular giving from Patrons and Commissioning Committee by communicating effectively and engaging them with our work, while also developing bespoke opportunities for these donors to give beyond their annual subscriptions.
• Develop strategies to grow support for Southbank Centre from major donors including identifying new networks and presenting Southbank Centre’s work in compelling ways.
• Meet financial targets, maintain financial records and regularly review portfolio to update forecasts and budgets and identify risks and opportunities.
• Manage the Events Assistant to ensure we deliver high quality cultivation and stewardship experiences for donors and prospects which illuminate the impact of Southbank Centre’s programme.

Office Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

The Office Coordinator position is responsible for the general day-to-day operations of the London, UK office.  Due to the nature of this position, work must generally be performed within a 30 hours / week timeframe (M-Fri). This role is an in-office role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:

· General administration as required: call handling and forwarding, front door access controls, post management, post requests, staff access, etc.

· Support of facilities management: oversight of cleaning and maintenance contractors, management of office supplies and procurement, equipment maintenance requests, liaison with building management.

· Facilitating work from home set-ups and procurement and coordinating distribution to personnel as requested.

· Facilitating new starter set-up in collaboration with P&C (HR) & IT inclusive of onboarding, office orientation, etc.

· Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, tidy, and professional office environment at all times.

· Ensuring the office is health and safety compliant and maintain a knowledge of UK regulations for workplace management.

· Manage any office security systems and accounts, fire drills, fire equipment maintenance, or required inspections. Maintain the fire safety equipment and ensure fire extinguishers are services and smoke alarms / detectors are functioning – conduct fire safety awareness training upon request.

· Manage corporate relationships and partnerships such as shipping vendors, office accounts, and more.

· Ensure the payment of facilities invoices within payment deadlines, including invoice tracking and coding.

· Manage and maintain key office supplies (including pantry supplies, office materials, first aid supplies, etc.). Inventory and maintenance of the storage unit.

· Manage the office access controls / visitor protocols of the office space and coordinate security enhancements / improvements upon request.

· Provides administrative support to the Grant, Contracts & Compliance Department in the coordination of contracts received to and shipped from the London office.

What you’ll be doing …

The main purpose of this role is to grow the venue hire pipeline of business and deliver venue hire events and specialist group events to excellent standards ensuring repeat business and maximising new sales opportunities. We are seeking a professional, confident candidate who enjoys the end-to-end process of events and is keen to make their mark on venue hire at the Society. You will also be highly organised with a keen eye for detail and confident being the ‘gatekeeper’ of the room bookings diary at the society. 

Overall responsibilities / requirements …

Venue Hire Sales & Marketing: 

• To deal with all venue sales enquiries in a timely and efficient manner. 
• To build and maintain an effective pipeline of venue hire enquiries. Including attending venue hire showcases and B2B networking events as necessary. 
• Professional and friendly manner, confident in delivering and leading on showrounds to prospective clients. 
• To produce venue hire literature and ensure that all material relating to the venue facilities is kept up to date. 
• To meet venue hire sales targets for 2024 as set by the Society and build effective sales pipelines for 2025.
• Liaise with Marketing Teams to produce bespoke posts and newsletters for members, venue hire leads and special offers for venue hire throughout the year, maximising engagement. 
• Support the Head of Events with all key cultivation events including venue hire showcases and any new business ventures. 

Venue Hire Administration: 

• To maintain safe working practices in conjunction with Health & Safety policies. 
• Work collaboratively with Buildings Manager to communicate key information taking place across Burlington House. 
• To liaise with AV company with regards to timings, payments, staff needs, training and use of equipment / set up for events. 
• To liaise with caterers with regards to timings, payments, staff attending, training and room set up for events. 
• To produce a weekly booking sheet for all staff to communicate bookings across the building. 
• To produce and meet budgets for events in consultation with the Head of Events 
• Manage the venue hire diary, ensuring it is kept up to date and all bookings are accurately recorded. 
• To check all incoming invoices against quotes/information received and pass to accounts for payment. 
• To raise and resolve any invoice queries in a timely manner. 

Event Operations:  

• To deliver all venue hire and specialist group events to excellent standards.
• To liaise with speakers and venue hire delegates and communicate all logistical details in a timely fashion including H&S briefings, PEEP plans and Risk Assessments. 
• To make any other logistical arrangements that are necessary for the smooth running of events covering timings, parking, room set-ups etc. 
• To ensure that all events are accessible and organised within the disability discrimination legislation. 
• To support the events team with ad-hoc events out of hours where needed across the year. 
• Ensure the events spaces are well maintained in collaboration with the Buildings Manager.

Teamwork: 

• To be proactive in identifying areas for potential improvement in the events programme 
• To take part in developing more efficient ways of working within the team 
• To ensure that positive working relationships are created with other departments at GSL 
• To participate in team meetings and wider meetings including External Relations and Health & Safety. 

Other responsibilities and expectations: 

• The post holder is expected to work flexibly to respond to changing needs at The Geological Society.  As the Conference Office operates a room hire service it is expected that the postholder will undertake out-of-hours work to ensure that this service can operate.  Excess hours worked will be compensated for by time off in lieu. 
• The post holder is expected to undertake any other responsibilities or tasks consistent with the role and/or reasonably required by the Head of Events.

• assist with the daily monitoring of a number of inboxes, providing clients with excellent customer service,
• support with the administration of our emergency fund, which supports dog owners in financial need and provide cover in our busy pharmacy, based at our London office
• support with the processing of prescriptions, maintain accurate records and organise relationship building meetings with vet practices for a number of stakeholders to attend.

For this role, you’ll need to be an organised, people person; with excellent communication skills, with confidence across different systems, drawing from either experience or your ability to pick up new processes quickly. About this team:
The Veterinary department is a friendly team of nurses, surgeons and administrative staff working in the London office. The primary responsibility for this team is to provide case guidance and management options for dogs within our care across our network of Rehoming Centres and other veterinary related schemes such as Outreach, Shared Adoption Scheme (SAS), Veterinary Support Fund (VSF) and the Emergency Trust Fund (ETF).

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mind CHWF to join our Facilities team as a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant.

As a crucial part of the Facilities team, you will be the face of the organisation welcoming clients, visitors and fellow staff members, ensuring that the central reception function, including facilities runs smoothly.
