Job description

Head of Service Delivery and Volunteering

Location: Home based
Salary: £48,800 per annum
Hours: 35

Re-engage is positive about old age and committed to reducing loneliness so that older people can have social lives and friendship groups however old they are. We inspire and enable meaningful connections and shared experiences within communities across the UK for people over 75 facing loneliness or social isolation. 

We’re working to deliver a five-year strategy with growth at its heart and we’re looking for an exceptional person to join our team as Head of Service Delivery and Volunteering, to be a vital part of this exciting phase of our development.

Reporting to the CEO and sitting within the senior management team, you will lead a team that brings older people and volunteers into our organisation.   Making full use of technology and building strong relationships with our volunteers, you’ll deliver volunteer-led services that help make life less lonely for thousands of older people each year.   

Key responsibilities

Leadership 

  • Create a high performing team culture that’s ambitious and passionate about Re-engages vision for older people. 
  • Contribute to the organisation’s strategic direction and play an active role in operational and budget planning for both the charity as a whole and the Service Delivery department.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new ways to use technology to improve our systems, develop new services and enhance customer service.

Operational Delivery 

  • Oversee and manage operations to provide a seamless service to volunteers and older people throughout their time with Re-engage from recruitment to departure.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, using data and stakeholder feedback to shape our services and the support offered. 
  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and lead contact for safeguarding for the board of trustees.  Ensure that safeguarding is at the heart of our work, implementing robust safeguarding principles and practices. 
  • Harness technology to create high quality, efficient, consistent, person-centred experiences for older people and volunteers. 
  • Ensure volunteers receive appropriate, interactive and engaging volunteer training. 
  • Work with Engagement and Fundraising teams to ensure delivery of commitments to funders, setting appropriate targets for team members.
  • Work with the Communications and Impact teams to develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer communication strategy, based on what volunteers want and need from Re-engage to support their volunteering.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure the experience of our volunteers and older people is measured and monitored.

About you

Essential

  • Experience of developing, supporting and managing volunteer led, sustainable services. 
  • Passionate about, and experienced in, working across all aspects of volunteer management. 
  • Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable people with proven competence of managing safeguarding systems and processes, confidentiality, and the implications of GDPR when working with volunteers and older people.
  • Strong project management and data analysis capabilities. 
  • Experienced in working with CRMs, automated systems, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Dynamics or equivalent systems.
  • Highly motivated and engaging leader with strong people management skills. 
  • Energised by change and a commitment to continuous improvement. 
  • Skilled communicator and an experienced influencer. 
  • This role will require an enhanced criminal record check.

Desirable

Full driving licence and own car preferred, as this post will require travel across the UK as and when required, and quarterly overnight stays.
