Considerations:
Minimum age requirement: 18
Due to the nature of the activities and current projects, we are looking for volunteers with skills, in depth knowledge and experience in gardening, either as a profession or as a hobby.
Our Garden volunteers help out on a Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday each week
Occasional weekend volunteering
Occasional attendance fundraising events for tools and plants (optional)
About us
Tŷ Hafan is a leading Welsh children's charity, with our hospice and headquarters based in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan.
We provide comfort, care and fun to children with life-shortening conditions, whilst supporting their families and helping them to make a short life, a full life; creating precious memories and helping them to make the most of the time they have together.

As a volunteer, you could be involved in various activities depending on your preferences, skills and experience, these include:
• General garden maintenance
• Keeping grounds clean, tidy and presentable
• Project work such as our forest project
• Using small gardening tools or larger equipment such as a leaf blower
• Other ad-hoc tasks as and when required seasonally
We are looking for volunteers with:
• Gardening experience, either as a profession or a hobby
• A passion for gardening and a willingness to share skills and knowledge
• A friendly and approachable personality
• A good team player who can also confidently work independently
• A sound knowledge of health and safety, with respect for yourself, others and the environment
• A sincere understanding of the sensitive nature of volunteering in a Hospice setting

Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for volunteers with skills and experience in gardening, either as a profession or as a hobby.
DBS check, references and induction/training course required before starting
As a volunteer, you could be involved in various activities depending on your preferences, skills and experience, these include:
•Mowing the lawn, trimming hedges, and pruning shrubs/trees
•Disposal of garden waste
•Planting bulbs and tidying up flower beds
•General tidy up of outdoor spaces
•Other ad-hoc gardening tasks on a seasonal basis
We are looking for volunteers who:
•Have experience in gardening, either as a profession or hobby
•Have a passion for gardening and a willingness to share their skills/knowledge
•Are reliable and flexible and committed to volunteering on a longer term basis
•Will follow our health and safety guidelines, policies and procedures and report any issues or concerns to the Family Support Volunteer Manager.
•Are respectful of the privacy and preferences of the families

Our Volunteer Gardener Role requires you to visit the gardens of disabled people and perform basic gardening tasks e.g mowing a lawn, weeding, pruning, bagging up garden waste, and tidying up the garden to improve accessibility.

MHA The Wilderness is a 7 acre heritage garden attached to MHA Hall Grange Care home in Croydon, London. The garden has been recently reclaimed and conserved. Our aim is to make it a peaceful haven for MHA Hall Grange residents, visitors, staff and local communities. As a Volunteer Gardener you will help our Head Gardener and other volunteers with the general upkeep of The Wilderness.
Main activities:
- You’ll be working with a small friendly team throughout The Wilderness garden to help with the general upkeep.
- You’ll do tasks such as; watering, weeding, stimming, cutting and propagating
- You’ll keep the grounds accessible for all with ongoing maintenance and clear areas for access throughout the seasons
- You’ll be familiar with and to adhere MHA’s Health and Safety Policies and policies relating to your volunteering role.

Could you volunteer a few hours of your time to help with handyperson/gardening tasks at our Activity & Rehabilitation Centre in Kennington. Oxford Head Injury Services is an Oxfordshire based charity that supports people who have been affected by brain injury. The Centre supports over 50 people each week and offers many activities including a gym, art and craft workshops, games, gardening and other practical tasks.
We are situated on Bagley Wood Road in Kennington and are open Monday to Friday between 9.30am – 3pm.

We are seeking a part-time volunteer to be based at our Headquarters in Slimbridge, Gloucestershire for at least a 6-month period. This role will be essential to support Conservation Breeding Unit (CBU) over the bird breeding season while core staff members are field based. This voluntary role will play a key part in ensuring the CBU facility is maintained for the welfare of the birds in our care, as well as the creation of facilities for future projects. It will be an opportunity for a volunteer to see ‘behind scenes’ at CBU, practicing or learning horticultural and DIY skills and working within a small but dedicated team.
What will you be doing?
● Using hand tools and lawnmowers to assist with vegetation management within CBU, sometimes involving working within bird pens
● Pond and water channel maintenance, including the weeding, planting and pump cleaning of the aquaponics system
● Assisting with the day-to-day management and building of bird pens in preparation for upcoming projects
● Assisting with simple construction and maintenance work (e.g. re-netting and constructing aviaries)
● There may also be the possibility of assisting the CBU aviculturists with animal management, including feeding
● Assisting with hand-removal of nettles and other weeds both in and outside of bird pens.
● Upholding biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases
Who are we looking for? We are looking for a passionate conservationist who loves wetland nature and supports the work of WWT. We are looking for a physically fit, enthusiastic and practical person who enjoys getting their hands dirty and rolling up their sleeves. The role is for someone who likes working outside in wetland environments in any weather. We want someone who doesn’t mind doing dirty jobs such as cleaning water pumps and filters, arduous jobs like cutting grass, or precise work involving animal welfare. No formal qualifications are required, however this role would suit someone with experience, or a desire to learn, horticultural and DIY skills.
