The Vacancy
Do you have a keen interest in current affairs and want to bring your experience of the Methodist Church to support its involvement in ecumenical social justice, policy and political work?
The Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) is a partnership between the Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches. It help the Churches to work together for peace and justice through listening, learning, praying, speaking and acting on public policy issues.
We are now searching for a new Methodist member of the Strategy and Policy Group (SPG) which oversees the team’s work, and facilitates the working together of the denominations to achieve JPIT’s purposes.
The SPG currently holds five meetings a year, comprising one 24-hour residential with the whole staff team, two half-day hybrid meetings (where members are on site together in London or online), and two shorter online-only meetings.
About You
As one of two Methodist members of SPG, you’ll contribute to the discussions and decision-making of the group, and collectively support JPIT in effectively enabling the Churches to speak and act prophetically and prayerfully on key issues of justice and peace. You’ll need to bring strong understanding and experience of the Methodist Church in Britain, through both local involvement and experience of district or Connexional structures.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a significant role in the public witness and justice work of the Methodist Church, working with ecumenical colleagues. You are encouraged to apply if you feel that overall your skills and experience meet the person specification requirements. We particularly welcome applications from people of Black, Asian and other Minority Ethnic groups (BAME), as they are currently under-represented within the SPG.

About HIAS+JCORE

Role purpose
The Fundraising Trustee will bring expertise, insight, and strategic guidance to help the charity strengthen and diversify its income. Working with the Board and staff/volunteers, they will ensure fundraising is ethical, sustainable, and aligned with the charity’s mission and values.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Provide advice and support on fundraising strategy, ensuring income generation is realistic and compliant with regulation.
- Act as a fundraising champion on HIAS+JCORE’s board, working with and supporting other trustees to explore fundraising possibilities.
- If networks for fundraising exist, use them to support the work of the charity.

We're looking for new Trustees to join the board of our award winning educational charity that has been turning primary school classrooms around the UK into 'pop-up' art galleries for over thirty years. As part of our board you will help shape the approach the charity will take and its future direction.
Magic Lantern workshops give children the opportunity to explore, discuss and bring to life famous art works, and discover the world of art from cave paintings to Cubism, Gothic to graffiti, and Turner to the Turner Prize. Our approach is designed to particularly help children who have not previously had the opportunity to engage with the arts or who might be reticent to participate in traditional lessons. Our sessions are interactive and have elements of drama, soundscape, slow looking, problem solving and creative writing.
We operate in several parts of England including London, the South East, the South West, the North East and Oxfordshire. We work with over 12,000 children each year and in 2019 were awarded with a JM Barrie Members' Award by Action for Children's Arts.
We are currently looking for three new trustees to add fresh voices to our board, strengthen our collective skillset and plan for our future. We want people who share our values and vision, are passionate about education and art, and can act as ambassadors for our work in schools.
We hold online trustee meetings four times a year on a weekday evening. This is a voluntary role but the charity will pay for out-of-pocket expenses e.g. for travel to any in-person trustee meetings or events. The post is a fixed term of three years with the possibility of a second term. Any successful applicant will be asked to apply for an Enhanced DBS check in the child workforce and their appointment is conditional until the full enhanced disclosure has been received by the charity.
It is not necessary to have previous trustee, board or committee experience as training will be provided, and you do not need to have a background in education or the arts to be eligible for this role. We would very much like our board of Trustees to look more like our community and would particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.

Purpose of the role
The purpose of the Board of Directors is to provide leadership, guidance, checks and balances on the structure and operation of the organisation.
The Board of Directors:
● Fulfils the duties and responsibilities of Company Directors
● Advises on and approves strategic plans, annual roadmaps, and budgets, and any changes to these
● Identifies any risks to the organisation and advises on these
● Advises on and approves organisational policies and commitments, including grant and commercial agreements

The Practicalities
Time commitment:
We have four full board meetings per year. Three of these are online and last for two hours, and one longer full day meeting is in person (likely in London. All costs will be covered). Directors are expected to attend these, and come prepared, having read all board papers in advance.
We have additional committees such as Finance and Governance, and Directors will be expected to join a committee. There may be other events that Directors are invited to attend, and other opportunities to get involved.
We also expect that Directors will provide ad hoc support based on their expertise and available time. We estimate the time commitment to be up to half a day per month.

● understanding of campaigning, advocacy, and organising practice
We are looking specifically to appoint up to three more Directors, and are seeking expertise in the following areas to add to our board:
Finance - such as small company or charity accounting, financial policies and systems.
People and Ops - such as safeguarding, HR policy and law, good practice and people development, progressive and anti-oppressive practice.
Accessibility

We also recognise the barriers that have traditionally stopped some people from getting involved with boards. Overview
No Panic is a national charity providing desperately needed support to people suffering from anxiety.
We are seeking volunteers with experience of researching financial costs, to assist fundraisers in our Large Funding Applications Team, by providing figures they need to apply for funding. Funding that helps the charity sustain and grow the services offered to our members.
If you are enthusiastic about helping No Panic to develop further as a charity and expand the number of anxiety sufferers they support, and have experience in assessing financial costs, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
Activities
Research and evaluate running costs, such as salaries, rent, equipment and expenses.
Compile the figures, and present them to the Large Funding Applications Team fundraisers.
The anticipated time commitment is 3 hours a week, this may vary, and we ask our volunteers to commit to at least a year.

Desirable skills would be financial research.
They should also be proactive and good at compiling researched information.
A reference is required.
Support
Large Funding Applications Team researchers will work under the co-ordination of No Panic staff. Staff will be able to advise on whether to go ahead with funding applications. Staff will also provide any information that is required. Staff will review applications before they are submitted.
