The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) is a unique non-profit organisation that works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders, challenging states and other powerful actors involved with systemic injustice. Our vision is justice across borders. We have a Board of seven passionate and knowledgable Trustees. We are looking to expand this with up to three new appointments.
ABOUT THE ROLE As a trustee, you will: Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the charity. Ensure we remain true to our mission and comply with legal and financial responsibilities. As Treasurer and Director/Trustee, you will oversee financial governance, ensure compliance with charity regulations and provide strategic financial guidance to the board. Main tasks include overseeing the production of regular financial reports and the charity’s annual audited accounts, settling and managing budgets and otherwise collaborating with the charity’s financial controller.
This part-time (estimated to average over a year at around 8 hours per month) voluntary position will require attending regular board and finance committee meetings and regular and ad-hoc meetings or other contacts with the charity’s financial controller.
Qualifications
• Proficiency in financial management, budget planning and financial reporting
• Knowledge of charity regulations and the Charities SORP is desirable
• Familiarity with fundraising, donor engagement or financial software is a plus
• Experience in a senior finance role or as a treasurer/trustee is also desirable
• A commitment to the values and mission of The Avenues Youth Project is essential

Introducing Urban Youth: Igniting Potential in Inner London
In the vibrant, fast-paced heart of London, there is a generation of young people brimming with potential, yet facing unique challenges. They are the future, but for many, the path is obscured by deprivation, isolation, and a world increasingly dominated by screens.
That's why we created Urban Youth.
We are a brand new, dynamic youth work charity dedicated to cutting through the noise and reaching the young people who need us most in Inner London's deprived areas. Our mission is simple yet profound: to move beyond passive engagement and create active opportunities that inspire, connect, and empower.
Our Vision: Moving Beyond the Screen
Urban Youth is not waiting for young people to come to us; we are meeting them where they are. We are tearing down barriers to engagement by deploying innovative, flexible youth work:

The Youth Bus: A mobile hub transforming spaces into instant centres of positive activity.

Pop-Up Hubs: Breathing new life into unused community spaces or integrating within existing centres.

School & College Partnerships: Working directly within educational settings and collaborating with other youth organisations to ensure seamless support.
