Want to learn first aid? Enjoy going to local events? Want to meet people and make new friends? This is the role for you. St John provide first aid treatment and care for members of the public at a variety of events. We support our local communities in all sorts of ways including first aid cover, CPR training, community response, and providing first aid training to schools and community groups. This is a fantastic role offering all sorts of opportunities within Cumbria and beyond. We are currently recruiting for Community First Aiders in both Whitehaven and Keswick and would love for you to join us! Full training and support will be provided including: Welcome programme introducing you to the project & wider charity Training in appropriate SJA policies St John Safeguarding training relevant to your role A two day Community First Aider training course The opportunity to be part of a local unit, where you will have ongoing support from peers and further learning & development opportunities Expected Time Commitment ideally two events per month (average event shift 1-8 hours) but this varies. Period Reality

Period Reality fight for gender equity through system-level change by educating about and advocating for living in sync with your cycle.

Period Reality aims to address period related issues and stories by sharing the real life stories from girls and women globally. Although half the population experiences a menstrual cycle, the stark contrast in the different realities of girls and women is very real and through storytelling we aim to educate and provide relatable content.

Through sharing stories from girls and women focused on their common humanities. Even though our realities might be very different depending on many factors (physical, geographical, socio-economical, mental etc.) we all share a lot of the same questions, worries, dreams, anxieties, ambitious etc. Making these stories relatable and accessible will educate and inspire and create a movement of girls and women being able to first and foremost understand their own cycle, in order to be kind to themselves.

Overall purpose

To hold oversight of the financial operations of the Society and ensure transparency of this information.

Support and communicate with board members and staff/associates: Act as a reliable point of contact for understanding the financial status of the society.

Communicate financial information to the society’s members.

Assist with additional administrative tasks regarding managing the funds of the society such as bank accounts, mortgage accounts and share capital.

Organize and Chair the Finance Subcommittee.

Estimated time commitment is around 2 to 3 days per month and reports to the board. 

Main Responsibilities

1. Report regularly on the financial status of the society to the Board of Directors.
2. Report at the Annual General Meeting and Ordinary General Meetings to the members of the society on financial matters.
3. Act as a point of Contact for Financial questions of Directors, Staff / Associates and where applicable User Members.
4. Ensure accurate recordkeeping, compiling of financial accounts and other reports as required by regulators and ensure submission of such documents on time.
5. Chair and organize meetings of the Finance Subcommittee of the Society, collaborating with members of the subcommittee on relevant delegated tasks.
6. Occasional Duties: Provide support to User Members on financial matters or questions.

The role

We are looking for a new Treasurer and Trustee to join our Council of Trustees. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified management accountant to lend financial expertise and strategic leadership to support the Trust’s governance and long-term impact.

Our Treasurer will work closely with the Finance Manager and Chief Executive Officer, providing financial insight, stewardship, and best-practice advice. As part of the Board of Trustees, you will help set the strategic direction for Tees Valley Wildlife Trust, championing our mission to create wildlife-rich places and wildlife-rich lives across the region.

Time commitment

The full Council meets five times a year, typically on weekday afternoons at the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust HQ.

Committees meet during office hours, usually at Trust HQ or online.

Trustees are expected to attend at least 75% of Council meetings, plus the Annual General Meeting, held at the start of Autumn.

Term of office

Trustees serve on a voluntary basis for an initial three-year period and may be reappointed for additional three-year terms (most trustees complete two terms). We provide a full induction plus ongoing training and personal development opportunities.
