About the Project – “Solta o Jogo”
“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Graphic Designer to bring the visual identity of the project to life. From social media graphics to event branding and promotional materials, you will help ensure the festival’s visual storytelling is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with our mission. This remote volunteer opportunity is perfect for creatives looking to build a professional portfolio while contributing to a high-impact community event.

Position Overview:
The Graphic Designer will play a central role in shaping the visual communications for “Solta o Jogo” and other Quilombo UK initiatives. Working closely with the Creative Director and Marketing team, the designer will conceptualise and produce a range of creative assets across print and digital media. This is an ideal role for someone with strong design skills who is passionate about culture, community, and impactful storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative Development:

• Study design briefs and translate project goals into compelling visuals.

• Develop concepts, mock-ups, and final designs for social media, posters, presentations, merchandise, and web content.

• Ensure all graphics are visually cohesive, accessible, and aligned with brand guidelines.

Design Production:

• Use design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce high-quality visuals.

• Test designs across various formats (print, digital, mobile).

• Revise designs based on feedback from the team and stakeholders.

• Prepare final graphics and ensure they are formatted correctly for production and distribution.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with copywriters, programme leads, and event coordinators to integrate design into broader communication strategies.

• Present design ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Attend creative planning sessions and contribute visual ideas to campaign strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

 Degree or current studies in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:

• Proven experience in graphic design, either freelance or in a professional setting.

• A strong portfolio showcasing illustrations, branding, and layout design.

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools.

• Skills:

• Excellent visual design skills and a strong eye for detail, colour, and typography.

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities of the Chair:

• Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that PAT achieves its mission.
• Work in partnership with the CEO and Executive team to achieve its mission.
• Lead the Board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation.
• Optimise the relationship between the Board and PAT’s staff and volunteers.
• Plan and chair the Board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
• Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for PAT.

The Chair provides oversight and guidance while also carrying out the general responsibilities of a Trustee.

Time Commitment:

• Estimated at one to two days per month.
• The Board meets formally at least four times a year for between a half day and a day, depending on business. Two meetings are in-person and are held in central London. Two are virtual.
• All trustees are asked to serve on one or more Board sub-committees and working groups. This adds 3-4 shorter meetings a year, for which preparation can be significant or relatively light. Trustees may be asked to chair sub committees on a rotating basis.
• Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the Executive team.
• Monthly scheduled conversation with the CEO with flexibility to respond to the occasional ad hoc issue.

About Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust:

Since 1988, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) has worked collaboratively to preserve, enhance, and increase understanding of the historic environment of the area, through a wide remit encompassing historic building conservation and archaeology. 

PKHT achieved their objectives through the delivery of projects, the provision of grants, information, and advice, and through a programme of outreach and training activities. The Organisations current key projects include the transformative work of the Perth City Heritage Fund, and an exciting new programme of community archaeology which will aim to engage communities across all of Perth and Kinross. Their aims are to maintain and enhance sense of place; provide a learning resource for local communities; and to build sustainable economic development through improvements and events for both local residents and visitors. 

Perth and Kinross has a rich physical heritage of archaeological sites and historic buildings and PKHT is committed to delivering projects and activities that increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the historic environment for everyone. Trustee Details:

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is currently seeking new trustees for their board and, to sustain their invaluable work, are inviting new board members, who have the right skills, experience, and time to take on the role effectively and impactfully, as well as sharing an affinity with their aspirations to safeguard local heritage and promote it to a wider audience.

The trust are keen to hear from people who have skills in buildings conservation, marketing and social media, legal and finance, IT and General Fundraising but would welcome expressions of interest from others who share a passion for what the area has to offer - and what is still to be uncovered. Gift of Friendship Programme Volunteer Befriender  

Background

Age UK Croydon has received a generous donation from The Julia Rausing Trust as part of its wider partnership with Age UK, the national charity, to help fund its crucial friendship services that support older people in the local area.

This ‘Gift of Friendship’ from the Trust aims to help older people experiencing loneliness and isolation. Loneliness often stems from factors like bereavement, living alone and declining health. Loss of mobility or senses can leave many older people feeling disconnected, while financial worries can increase existing feelings of isolation. This can have serious consequences, undermining resilience and increasing risk of physical and mental illness.

Volunteers Befrienders are offering support and company to people who may need that extra confidence to attend a local activity in Croydon. You could accompany someone to a local lunch group or activity or even just going with them to a park for a nice walk. They build relationships in the process, which enable meaningful conversations and help to identify support needs and other services and activities that will help maintain their clients’ mental health. A key aim of the role is to support people with achieving their goals to live a happier life, accompany them, and build their confidence back to get out into the community and feel more independent.

Commitment 

Minimum of 6 months from start of the GoF Befriending match, includes:

· 30-minute informal interview.

· Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

· 1-hour core induction.

· Mandatory training sessions.

· Up to 1-2 hours a week engagement with your befriendee

· Weekly accurate records of interactions with your befriendee

· Regular check-in calls with Befriending Coordinator

Purpose of Role

Staff will assess the client and you will be given their profile and a support plan. Core tasks will include:

· Weekly companionship contact in person.

· Encouraging and accompanying to visits to other social events and activities in the local area e.g., a walk, GP, an IT class.

· Spotting additional needs and identifying services and activities to address these.

· Submitting a weekly report on the contact to include contact type, signposting and any concerns.

Support Provided 

• Full remote training and induction provided.
• We will complete the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application with you.
• Supervision and direct contact with the Befriending

Co-ordinator/Manager.

· Join and participate in peer support groups and meet other volunteers to share experiences and good practice.

The opportunity

The commitment

At present, the Services Committee meets four times each year, for up to three hours each time.  While we keep timing under review in the light of changing membership, this year's meetings have started at 2.00pm and all of them have been virtual.  Of course, you would also need to prepare for meetings by reading papers.  Co-optees also attend annual appraisal and are invited to our annual governance strategy days.   For these roles, how far away you live from us is not important over time.  However, we know that you would want to come on site at least at the start, to get to know us and what we do.  

What we are seeking

We seek interest from people who can digest sometimes large amounts of reading and challenge the executive, and governing colleagues, on whether we are performign as well as we should.  So as well as being analytical, applicants will need the necessary confidence to contribute during meetings actively and, sometimes, to defend their viewpoint.  We welcome anyone with these skills but, right now, but we especially need to add to our expertise in education (especially specialist further education) and care.

Trustees manage the charity. Like any organisation we get involved in people, finance and legal topics, making strategies and assessing which projects to support, tracking progress on animal welfare programs, working with local vets to offer more support out of hours, or making sure our volunteers are well managed and motivated. More importantly, we focus on raising funds, managing volunteers and spending money where it is needed to support animals in our community - YOUR community. You will hold the organisation accountable, ensure compliance and be an ambassador, promoting the good work we do and encouraging our teams to continue their efforts to support animal welfare.

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependant on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

· Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· Planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· Keeping financial records from fundraising events

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise funds and awareness through organising local events. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

We're looking for someone with the following:

· Great people skills and the ability to bring out the best in others

· Excellent organisational skills

· The ability to prioritise and delegate

· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly

· Fine-tuned communication skills and a passion for engaging with people within your local community

· Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided

· Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

The Holly Lodge Centre was founded with a heartfelt mission: to make nature accessible to everyone. We are proud that over 50% of our programmes are designed for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) participants. 

Our wide range of programmes offers something for everyone. Visitors can explore the natural world on our outdoor trails, step back in time in our Victorian classroom or pharmacy, or share meaningful moments through our Reminiscence programmes for older adults. We welcome children from both mainstream and specialist SEND schools, and your role will be central to creating memorable, inclusive learning experiences.

• A patient, kind and empathetic individual, particularly confident supporting people with learning needs and disabilities 

• A reliable and punctual self-starter who works well as part of a team and can adapt to unexpected changes 

• Someone with a curious mind and infectious enthusiasm for learning 

Whether you enjoy pond dipping and invertebrate hunting with children, or love dressing up and bringing history to life through character-led sessions, there’s a place for you at The Holly Lodge Centre. A teaching background is welcome but not essential — what matters most is your ability to engage and guide groups of children with confidence, warmth and joy. 
 
You’ll be fully supported through shadowing opportunities, detailed programme plans and access to further learning resources. No prior specialist knowledge of Richmond Park’s flora, fauna or history is required — just a willingness to learn and share your enthusiasm.
