Job description

As a Document Support Volunteer, you will meet with a service user once a week to provide assistance with tasks such as completing forms, preparing basic documentation, and supporting applications related to areas like divorce, housing, benefits, which includes forms related to legal processes. The role will involve giving practical support with these matters, and helping navigate the information provided.

What you will be doing

  • Support service users with completing important documents, including housing forms, benefit applications, referrals, and basic administrative paperwork.
  • Help individuals understand written information and fill out forms clearly, working towards the various deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.

The skills you need

  • Comfortable completing forms and supporting others with written tasks.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to explain information clearly and calmly.
  • Confident using basic IT tools (e.g., Word, email, online forms).
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to work in a trauma informed, person centred way.
