Chair of Trustees Role Profile

The Chair of the Board of Trustees provides leadership to the Board, ensuring it functions effectively to support and guide the charity in achieving its mission. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Board in maintaining a clear and strategic focus on the charity’s mission, values and long-term goals.

Other work as part of this role could include:
• Writing blogs for the website
• Developing surveys and conducting research
• Speaking to the media (we will provide training, and there is no need to do this if you don’t want to)
• Meeting MPs
• Speaking at events
Time Commitment and payment: This is flexible, you can do as much or as little as you like. We generally have a one hour meeting a month, and will organise a summer in-person meeting. Between that you may spend a couple of hours a month working on projects that interest you. Youth Ambassadors are remunerated for their time spent volunteering at a rate equivalent to the London Living Wage. This can either be with money via a bank transfer or with vouchers. We do not provide payment for taking part in media interviews, to ensure you never feel like you have to do these.

Sarcoidosis is a rare inflammatory disease which mostly affects the lungs, although other parts of the body such as the heart, eyes and nervous system can also be involved. It is not properly understood and there is currently no known cure.
SarcoidosisUK is a small charity with big ambitions! We want to make a difference to the lives of those affected by sarcoidosis in the UK by providing information and support, raising awareness and undertaking research into treatments and a cure. We currently support over 9,000 people online and have strong relationships with both clinicians and patients.
We want to enlarge and strengthen our Trustee Board with the recruitment of new trustees who will bring their skills and passion to the work we do. We’re delivering ‘Developing Futures’ a funded 12-week e-mentoring programme for young people aged between 18-24 years from ethnic minority backgrounds and facing mental health challenges, in the London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow and Haringey.
What you will be doing
- Motivate, guide and support service users towards the achievement of positive goals.
- Support service users with exploring careers, identifying and setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources.
- Promote and develop a positive relationship

- Ability to provide a supportive and inclusive atmosphere which motivates and inspires others
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality and follow professional boundaries
- To be consistent in attendance

Do you have experience in looking after children with SEN? We are looking for a volunteer who ideally has a qualification and a Paediatric First Aid training certificate to support with facilitating activities within our Tower Hamlets refuge whilst mums attend activities, meetings or take time for self-care! Your support will make a massive difference and enable mums the time to develop their skills and explore their interests.
What you will be doing
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Entertaining children with provided toys and small activities such as colouring or puzzles etc..
- Ensuring the children are kept safe
The skills you need
- Calm and patient approach
- Experience in childcare preferred
- Working knowledge of child safeguarding preferred
- Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning and participation
- Good communication skills
