About the role:
As a community champion volunteer you’ll be supporting Sense’s fundraising team, playing a vital role in helping Sense to raise funds and awareness to support people with complex disabilities.
You’ll engage with individuals, local businesses, and regional press to share our mission, organise events, and inspire others to take action. Whether you’re great at planning events, researching opportunities or connecting with your community, this role has something for you.
This is a flexible role, with the opportunity to volunteer either virtually or in your local community. We are looking for volunteers able to offer a minimum commitment of 2 hours per month.
We’re looking for people who are passionate about Sense’s work to support disabled people with complex needs and who have a calm, kind and friendly personality.
Please note that you will not be providing care for the people Sense supports as part of this role.
Due to the nature of the volunteer role, we cannot accept applications for anyone under the age of 18.
The four areas of the role:
As a Community Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, organised into four main role categories. You can choose to get involved in one or more of these areas, and we’ll discuss your preferences with you as part of the application process. Please note, we don’t expect volunteers to take on every area. Instead, we’ll focus on what interests you most and shape the role around your strengths and skills.
Event volunteer:
Support Sense’s Community Fundraising team by:
- Organising your own fundraising events in aid of Sense.
- Supporting and participating in fundraising events at your local Sense services, and shops.
- Supporting with fundraising admin, for example sourcing prizes for Sense fundraisers.
Skills needed:
- Creative, with fresh fundraising ideas and enthusiasm.
- Organised, with the ability help co-ordinate multiple aspects of an event.
Local public relations (PR) volunteer:
Boost Sense’s profile in your local community by:
- Writing content for local press releases.
- Building a network of local media contacts.
- Supporting regional output of national campaigns.
Skills needed:
- Strong written communication
- Able to follow branding and messaging guidelines.
- Self-motivated and proactive in seeking opportunities.
Fundraising researcher:
Help boost Sense’s regional income by researching available grants, partnerships and other local connections. Responsibilities include:
- Researching local grants and business partnerships.
- Researching networking events.
- Helping us to source prizes for Sense fundraising events.
Skills needed:
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
- Organised, ensuring new leads are accurately recorded and shared.
Community connector:
Act as an ambassador for Sense, attending events across your community to thank supporters, and forge new partnerships.
- Attending cheque presentations, thanking our supporters.
- Giving presentations about Sense to local schools and community groups.
- Engaging with local businesses and groups, to forge new relationships for Sense.
Skills needed:
- Strong communication skills and enjoys public speaking opportunities.
- Well-connected in their local area, and love engaging with people.

About the role
The Podcast Associate will support the development and delivery of Period Reality’s brand new podcast series exploring menstrual health, gender equity and wellbeing.
You’ll work closely with the Podcast Hosts and the Comms Team to bring each episode to life, from research and planning to editing support and promotion.
What you'll do
- Assist with research and preparation for podcast episodes (topics, guests, key questions and relevant data).
- Support episode scheduling, recording logistics and coordination with guests.
- Help with script outlines, show notes and captions for episode releases.
- Assist with basic audio editing or liaise with editors to ensure smooth production.
- Coordinate with the Comms Team on social media promotion and content snippets.
- Help track episode performance and audience engagement.
- Bring creative ideas for themes, guest and storytelling approaches.

Volunteer with The Remakery Oxford
Who we are
A community-driven organisation, our mission at Remakery Oxford is to foster a circular economy approach to waste in Oxford. Through creativity, skill-sharing and collaboration, we transform waste into art and function, providing an antidote to fast fashion and single-use culture.
Our focus is to help shift mindsets around sustainability, consumption and top-down mass production. Through workshops, talks and podcasts, we encourage experimentation, social innovation and education, driving forward the idea that anyone can curate art, function and fashion with minimal planetary impact.
Our next goal is to establish a studio for those who lack the space and tools to work independently. With the support of our volunteer team we hope to provide a collaborative space in exchange for skills sharing in the community.

What we need help with
We have flexible volunteer opportunities for anyone who shares our passion for circularity and is willing to uphold our values. It may suit you if you work part time, are out of work, are retired, on parental leave or are a student. There's no minimum time commitment.
We are looking for volunteers in these areas:
Running Events - Creative types who want to run workshops and other events themed around circularity, reuse, repair and reimagination.
Marketing, Content & Outreach - Social Media, Creative Writing, Video Editing, Infographics, Event Promotion.
Organising Events - Planning, Promoting, Venues, Flyers, Coordinating attendance.
Community & Partnerships - University, Families, Schools, Artists & Makers, Corporate Outreach, Fundraising Support.
Tech & Digital - Website creation and management, eCommerce setup, launch and support.
Circular Projects - Local grower & composter roles, waste hub, circular systems experiments.
We have roles which can be handled remotely as well as in person.

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?
Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.
This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.
Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager.
Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:
- Serving customers on the till
- Taking stock donations from the public
- Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
- Dressing the window displays
- Asking people to join us as a volunteer
As a Retail Volunteer you will be:
- Friendly and Approachable
- Reliable, Kind and Patient
- A good communicator (including listener)
- Willing to volunteer within guidelines and to take direction where necessary
- Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
As a Mencap volunteer you will:
- Make new friends and raise important funds for people with a learning disability
- Get reasonable out-of-pocket expenses in line with our policy e.g. travel
- Receive full Training and support
- Volunteer alongside other people
- Have a chance to give back your local community

We are seeking a new Chair for the Scottish Workforce Professional Development Board (WPDB). The group has been working for five years to deliver their skills plan for Scotland, and is well established with 12 members from a variety of different stakeholders in Scotland, including employers, education providers and government agencies.
The UK WPDB is the lead on workforce policy, with a vision of growing the attractiveness of working in the sport and physical activity sector and of ensuring that all customers and consumers have a safe and excellent experience. The Scottish WPDB was established to ensure the successful delivery of UK-wide workforce policy and strategy within Scotland, reflecting the significant differences between each of the home nations in areas such as legal systems, education policy, funding, delivery infrastructure and career pathways. It has the flexibility to operate in line with the Scottish policies and priorities.
We are looking for an individual who understands the sector’s workforce requirements within Scotland and has an ambitious view for what the future could look like. You will have a proven ability to drive strategic discussions around workforce policy, and to provide effective leadership to the rest of the Board.

We are looking for friendly, empathic volunteers to run our pet food bank, helping more animals stay with their families. The food bank is at Starbucks in Stroud town centre from 10am on the third Thursday of the month.
What you'll be doing:
Costs for pet insurance, food, and vet bills have soared over recent years, and every day we receive calls from people no longer able to afford their pet's care. To try and help keep animals in their homes with their own people, we run a pet food bank to provide people with dog or cat food.
You'll talk to people about their animals, offer support and hand out food. There's no means testing and food is available to all who ask. We will provide all you need to run the food bank including the food, leaflets and charity shop vouchers.
