The digital world has changed at such a fast-paced leaving many feeling disconnected due to the lack of technical ability and knowledge. Help people to stay connected, improve their financial health, employability, and learn how to access much needed services and resources online! We’d love to find a resident in Haringey, but this is not essential for the role.

What you will be doing

• Supporting people to gain digital skills and knowledge on a computer, tablet and smart phone via one to one or in small group sessions
• Supporting people to use digital apps, emails, search the internet, online shopping and set up online accounts
• Supporting people to learn the skills to keep in touch with family and friends, such a video call and messaging
• Support individuals to agree and aspire on the steps/ goals they would like to achieve in the sessions
• Lead on the logistics and organisation of the sessions alongside the staff team
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback, and report any concerns to the staff team

The skills you need

• Confident using digital skills
• Willingness and interest in facilitating one to one and group session on basic digital skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning and participation

Purpose of the Role

This volunteer role supports the delivery of a wellbeing project for male asylum seekers accommodated in hotels in Ealing. The service aims to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and provide culturally sensitive mental health support for individuals who may be experiencing stress, trauma, and uncertainty due to displacement.

Volunteers will support the delivery of group activities and informal support sessions that promote social connection, emotional wellbeing, and engagement with services. The role involves building rapport with residents, supporting activities, and helping individuals access support where needed.

Volunteers will work alongside the Mental Health (Asylum Seekers) Coordinator to create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where residents feel comfortable participating in activities and seeking support.

Main Responsibilities

To support the Mental Health (Asylum Seekers) Coordinator in engaging residents and facilitating group activities that promote wellbeing, social connection, and access to support services.

Responsibilities include:

• Engage with asylum seeker residents in a friendly, respectful, and culturally sensitive manner
• Introduce residents to the wellbeing service and encourage participation in activities
• Help build rapport and trust with residents through informal conversation and engagement
• Support the onboarding of participants by assisting with forms and explaining the service
• Assist with facilitating group activities such as board games, expressive and creative activities.
• Encourage participation and inclusion during group activities
• Provide informal emotional support through active listening and supportive conversation
• Help create a welcoming and safe space for participants during sessions
• Support the preparation and organisation of activity materials and resources
• Assist with setting up and packing down activity spaces
• Identify and report any safeguarding concerns or welfare issues to the coordinator
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and follow guidance from staff when supporting residents

We'd love you to get involved in our Tech Hub to help people with sight loss develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to use everyday technology. We particularly need people who are comfortable with Android phones and tablets – training will be provided to support your knowledge.

We'd love you to volunteer regularly at our drop-in sessions for customers in Jarrow and surrounding area. Help local people with sight loss become independent technology users and enjoy the benefits of being online. You'll work closely with individuals, supporting them to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to get the most out of technology

Ref: V267 | Support Group Volunteer | Greenwich, London

We’re looking for one Support Group Volunteer over the age of 18 years old, based at St. Marys (Eltham) Community Complex Association, 180 Eltham High Street, London, SE9 1BJ.

You’ll be volunteering every Thursday between 10:30am and 12:30pm.

As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group. The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.

The volunteer will be

· A people person, with good listening skills

· A great communicator who enjoys meeting new people

· Good at putting people at ease

· Reliable and organised

· Passionate about supporting people affected by stroke

· IT literate, have good administrative and record keeping skills and be able to follow relevant policies

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.
