At Options for Life, we believe everyone has the right to live a fulfilled and independent life. We are a Sandwell based charity that supports adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to build confidence, learn new skills, access their communities, and make informed choices about their lives.

With two purpose-built centres and over 65 staff, we provide a wide range of services, from outreach and hub-based activities to supported community access and drop-in sessions. Our work takes place in one of England’s most disadvantaged areas, where our services can make the greatest impact.

Join Our Board as Treasurer

As we plan to expand our reach and develop new services, we are seeking a Treasurer to help guide our financial strategy and governance.

We are looking for someone with a background in finance or accounting, who can:

• Oversee our financial health in collaboration with our Head of Finance and CEO
• Ensure effective financial controls, policies, and reporting are in place
• Play an active role in the Finance Committee and wider Board decision-making
• Present clear and insightful financial information to fellow Trustees

What does the role involve?

Working in ever changing environment Active Response Volunteers respond to demands across a site. The role is very varied and involves:

• Helping staff prepare documents at essential times, including creating and printing

• Helping staff with basic information entry and calls

• Helping set up and maintain meeting rooms

• Helping collect/deliver items between teams and nearby sites

• Surge support during event days at the Head office

 • Keeping things organised on the go such as keeping the kitchen area clear, supporting sustainability actions like switching off lights

• Supporting staff with lunch and refreshment runs

• Supporting staff with simple wellbeing initiatives that help break the day via active response initiatives

• Attend a site meeting every 3 months with staff regarding site updates and contribute to ideas for active response volunteering solutions.

• Help develop awareness of the new active response service and proactively find tasks too.

• There may also be opportunities to get involved in other areas of the Trust’s work, including our NHS careers

Exclusions:

• Volunteers will not carry out clinical duties (i.e. doing the tasks which the staff have been trained to do.

• Supporting patients directly (this role is based in the Head office where direct patient care is not delivered).

• We won’t ask you to carry heavy loads

Friends of Greatwood and Horseclose Communtiy Centre are looking for friendly, community‑minded volunteers who want to play an active part in making events at Greatwood and Horseclose Community Centre welcoming, enjoyable, and well‑run. You don’t need previous event experience just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to get stuck in.

This role supports the smooth planning, preparation, and delivery of a variety of in‑person events at the community centre. Event Support Volunteers will help create a warm, accessible, and positive experience for all attendees, while assisting staff and other volunteers with the practical tasks that make events successful.

Finance Trustee - Citizens Advice

Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire is seeking a trustee with financial experience to help shape the future of our high-performing advice charity.

With offices in Grantham, Spalding and Stamford, plus outreach centres across the region, we support a population of 225,000 people. Last year, we helped 14,000 clients with 60,000 issues and secured over £7 million of additional income for them. We are here for everyone to help people move on with their lives.

As a trustee, you will join a well-known, respected charity, influence strategy, strengthen governance and contribute to meaningful change. This is an opportunity to share your expertise with other professional, dedicated trustees, gain valuable experience, build on your leadership and strategy skills, and increase your employability. Previous Board experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.

You will guide the Board and the Chief Executive Officer on the key assumptions and financial implications of budgets and plans. You will use your financial knowledge and understanding to oversee the financial management of the charity and advise the Board.

You will monitor the charity’s financial performance and support the CEO and financial team in areas such as budgeting, clear and accurate financial reporting and financial compliance. This is an opportunity for you to:

The time commitment is four in-person Board meetings and four or five remote committee meetings a year, a Board Away Day and an involvement of 1-2 days per month with the Finance Team. 

What do you need to become a trustee?

Trustees don’t need specific qualifications, but we expect all trustees to have

In addition, as Finance Trustee you will need:

For this role, we also value:

● experience of working in finance, accounting and/or audit 
● experience in charity finance, SORP, or nonprofit financial management 
● familiarity with financial software, and/or

When & how often would I volunteer for?

· Ideally for a minimum of one session weekly or fortnightly, for 2 hours. We welcome anything in addition to this and are very flexible. Our schemes run activities from 10am-6pm 7 days a week.

Role summary

Community Bereavement Cafés are welcoming and open spaces for people to talk about their grief.  Facilitators help run and facilitate the cafes.

A standard DBS check will be required for this role.

Main duties of this role may include any of the following:

· Help prepare the venue for the café set up – positioning chairs, preparing refreshments, making the seating welcoming and conducive to a positive experience.

· Welcome people as they arrive.

· Provide name labels to ensure people are known by name.

· Identify newcomers and assist them to settle in – making introductions and offering a helping hand to begin with. Being sure to withdraw yourself from the group when it feels right to allow peer support to take over and blossom.

· Offer and make drinks, clear cups etc.

· Facilitate a session in the Cafe after receiving bereavement training.

· Give notice before the café is due to end so that people can draw their conversations to a close.

· Occasionally, at the end, distribute feedback forms to participants to complete anonymously.

· When everyone has left, put the room back to how it was before the café started.

· Escalate any concerns or worries about attendees to the Cafe lead.

·Uphold strict confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Training & supervision

· Training provided in understanding grief and bereavement, communication and active listening skills, facilitating group spaces, safeguarding, boundaries, referral pathways, cafe operations and practical logistics.

· Monthly supervision/support.

· Ongoing training as required.

• Chatting to customers, giving great service on the till.
• Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.
• Visual merchandising: creating eye-catching window and in-store displays.
• Accepting donations from members of the public, speaking to the donors and asking them a few questions..
• Following clear instructions to label donations in order to maximise income.
• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

We are looking for fun, reliable, and pro-active volunteers from all different cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have a genuine interest in making a difference to the lives of children and young people. 

You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. We will match you with a child you share common interests with. 

You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided 

Here’s a few of the young people we have waiting for a volunteer: 

• Amy (12) lives with an older carer, she would like an active Independent Visitor who can do sports with her. 

• Brad (13) lives in residential care with other young people, he doesn’t have anyone in his family visit. He would like an Independent Visitor to take him out and have fun, like the other young people. 

• Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake.

We’re looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. Everyone deserves a safe, clean, dignified place to call home. Join us, and help end housing poverty.

• Role: Treasurer / Trustee. In addition to the specific responsibilities stated below, you will assume all the usual duties of a Trustee.

• Volunteer: Trustees are volunteers. The role is not paid, however reasonable expenses may be claimed e.g. local travel.

• Time: Three year term, with annual review. Estimated 0.5-2 days per month, including attending six Board meetings per year. You may also be a sub-committee member and attend specific meetings.

• Location: Remote

ROLE OVERVIEW

The role involves monitoring the financial administration of the charity and reporting to the Board at regular intervals on its state of financial health. The Treasurer will assist the team in setting AzuKo’s strategy, support AzuKo’s staff and ensure all financial affairs are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure there is financial stability with effective and efficient administration

• Monitor and report on the financial health of the charity (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc) at Trustee meetings

• Prepare and process payroll for employees

• Oversee production of financial reports / returns, accounts and audits

• Ensure proper records are kept and effective financial procedures are in place

• Participate in other tasks as arise from time to time, such as interviewing new Trustees, helping with fundraising events

• Act as an ambassador for our cause and for AzuKo

QUALITIES

Essential

• Proven ability to communicate financial information

• Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement

• Competent IT and spreadsheet skills

• Experience of payroll and accounting systems

• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

Desirable

• Qualified accountant with demonstrated commercial awareness

• Knowledge the charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
