Principal responsibilities

· Provide confident, inclusive and faith-shaped leadership to the Board, enabling trustees to fulfil their duties well and contribute effectively.

· Ensure the charity remains true to its charitable purposes, Charity Governance Code, Christian ethos, vision, values and commitment to public benefit.

· Work closely with trustees and the Chief Executive Officer to shape strategy, monitor progress and support the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of the charity.

· Support the Chief Executive Officer through regular communication, encouragement, accountability and constructive challenge, while maintaining clear boundaries between governance and operational management.

· Chair meetings well, ensuring trustees are well informed, discussion is balanced, all voices are heard and decisions are taken in the best interests of the charity.

· Support the development and effectiveness of the Board through recruitment, induction, succession planning and regular review of contributions and effectiveness.

· Act as a credible ambassador for the charity

· This post has an occupational requirement to be a committed Christian, in line with Hope Nottingham’s purpose to advance the Christian faith. It requires an understanding of, and active commitment to, the Christian ethos of the charity.

Essential: Previous Chair and/ or board or experience. You may not have had previous Chair experience but must be an experienced trustee with sound knowledge of governance and an understanding of the charity, faith or community sector.

Time commitment: This is a voluntary role. The Chair will have the time to get to know the organisation, attend in person evening board meetings in Beeston (bi-monthly), prepare for meetings, meet monthly with the Chief Executive (can be online) and be available for ad-hoc discussions and act as ambassador at occasional events as needed.

Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure is a small, friendly charity based in Southwark, providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Active Social Club Volunteer to support our weekly Thursday sessions (10.30-12.30). We are based at St Faith’s Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations) however this role requires the ability to travel to other locations in the borough of Southwark. 

About The Role

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with others. In Active Social Club you’ll support our tutor in encouraging learners to participate in a variety of fun activities which aim to nurture the supportive relationships between our learners and enhance their wellbeing, joy and sense of belonging.

As an Active Social Club Volunteer at Stepping Stones, you will:

• Assist the tutor in providing fun and stimulating activities
• Play a part in ensuring the health and safety of learners when offsite
• Offer 1:1 or group support where needed to help participants engage
• Help build a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels safe to express themselves

Physical Activity Mentor

What You’ll Do

Support older people aged 65+ to become more physically active and achieve personal wellbeing goals through one-to-one mentoring. You'll provide encouragement, motivation, and practical support to help someone make positive lifestyle changes over a 12-week programme.

You will:

· Meet with an older person regularly to build a supportive mentoring relationship

· Help them identify a wellbeing or physical activity goal

· Work together to create achievable steps and milestones

· Encourage and motivate them to stay active and overcome barriers

· Review progress and celebrate achievements

· Signpost to local activities and opportunities where appropriate

· Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions

We are looking for a committed and experienced individual to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer. As a registered charitable company, our community centre supports local people through a range of services and activities to improve life outcomes for all.

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor the financial position of the charity and advise the Board on financial matters. 

· Chair our Finance Committee which meets quarterly

· Ensure proper records are kept and that accounts meet legal and regulatory requirements.

· Support the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and annual accounts.

· Support the work of the outsourced accounting agency and, when necessary, liaise with staff responsible for day-to-day financial administration.

· Contribute to the overall strategic direction and good governance of the Centre as an active Trustee.

What You’ll Do

Role summary

Community Bereavement Cafés are welcoming and open spaces for people to talk about their grief.  Facilitators help run and facilitate the cafes.

A standard DBS check will be required for this role.

Main duties of this role may include any of the following:

· Help prepare the venue for the café set up – positioning chairs, preparing refreshments, making the seating welcoming and conducive to a positive experience.

· Welcome people as they arrive.

· Provide name labels to ensure people are known by name.

· Identify newcomers and assist them to settle in – making introductions and offering a helping hand to begin with. Being sure to withdraw yourself from the group when it feels right to allow peer support to take over and blossom.

· Offer and make drinks, clear cups etc.

· Facilitate a session in the Cafe after receiving bereavement training.

· Give notice before the café is due to end so that people can draw their conversations to a close.

· Occasionally, at the end, distribute feedback forms to participants to complete anonymously.

· When everyone has left, put the room back to how it was before the café started.

· Escalate any concerns or worries about attendees to the Cafe lead.

·Uphold strict confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Training & supervision

· Training provided in understanding grief and bereavement, communication and active listening skills, facilitating group spaces, safeguarding, boundaries, referral pathways, cafe operations and practical logistics.

· Monthly supervision/support.

· Ongoing training as required.

Experience & qualifications required

· Having excellent communication and listening skills.

· Ability to join in conversation and contribute appropriately.

· Happy chatting in a group or individually.

· Allowing others to speak and give them space to do that.

· Being comfortable discussing bereavement, death, dying and loss.

· Ability to judge the correct moment to leave a conversation, and have the confidence and skills to do that.

RideWise is a Nottingham-based charity that helps people lead healthier, happier and more sustainable lives through walking, cycling and active travel.

• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

What you will contribute

Evaluate patient’s emotional and physical condition at screening and on ship by performing manual muscle testing, Range Of Motion and other tests as needed

Coordinate and participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient treatment plans and goals, utilizing selected physical therapy procedures including physical agents, therapeutic exercise and gait and functional training

Discuss and document treatment goals and therapy with patients, family and staff

Evaluate patients during treatment to determine effectiveness and safety, modifying treatment plan as indicated

Assist with fabrication of orthotics and other supports

Serve as a consultant to physicians and nurses regarding Physical Therapy services

For This Role, You Will Need

Registered Physical Therapist with active license and a minimum of two years’ experience

Experienced with surgical patients preferred, including orthopedics and burn reconstruction, as well as experience in musculoskeletal outpatients

Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)

Fluent in Engish
