Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy?

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team.

We are looking for volunteers to provide training and support to our mentors in prison in the North East area. This could include visiting any of the following prisons: HMP Frankland, HMP Holme House, HMP Durham, HMP Northumberland, HMP Low Newton, HMP Deerbolt. There may be some additional preparation and/ or administrative tasks in between volunteering days at the prison.

Our prison volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by delivering training sessions for prison mentors and offering ongoing advice, guidance and support through mentor meetings.

Volunteer recruitment dates

The closing date for applications to attend our next round of training is 24 January 2027. In some circumstances, volunteer vacancies may close early. Successful applicants will be sent interview questions in advance with notice to prepare. We will respond to all applications. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between 25 January and 5 February 2027. This is an opportunity for you to meet our regional team, to find out more about you and for us to share more information about the volunteering role.

Training:

You'll be given high quality training to prepare you for volunteering with Shannon Trust. This takes place over 4 training sessions and via our online training portal. We ask that volunteers aim to complete the training in one course as this means that you will be ready to start actively volunteering. The next training sessions for volunteering for people applying to be a prison based volunteer will take place as follows.

You’ll also receive the opportunity to attend ongoing training sessions and peer support meetings during your time as a volunteer to build your skills and experience.

How can you help? 

As an Events Team Support Volunteer, you will play an important behind-thescenes role in helping our fundraising events run smoothly. You'll help create a positive experience for our supporters from the moment they sign up through to celebrating their achievements after event day. You may be asked to support with a range of activities, including but not limited to:

• Supporter communications: Making phone calls to wish participants good luck before their event, congratulate them afterwards and thank them for their incredible fundraising efforts, as well as preparing and posting good luck cards and other supporter mailings.
• Participant materials: Preparing fundraising packs, participant welcome materials and certificates, ensuring participants receive everything they need.
• Event preparation: Packing event day materials and organising and assembling cheer packs, including banners, pom-poms, signs and other supporter resources.
• Data and administration: Assisting with data entry, updating supporter records, envelope stuffing, labelling and other general administrative tasks.
• Event and team support: Assisting with event logistics in the lead-up to busy fundraising events and helping to ensure the Events Team workspace is tidy, organised and well-stocked.
• Ad hoc support: Supporting wider Events Team projects and administrative tasks, particularly during busy periods, to help keep things running smoothly.

Location and time commitment

This is an office-based volunteering role. We’re therefore looking for someone who is happy to volunteer at our Fleet, Hampshire office initially, before continuing at our new Woking office from early 2027 onwards.

During our busier spring and autumn seasons, we’re looking for a commitment of approximately two hours per week, ideally on a Wednesday. During the quieter summer and winter seasons, this would reduce to approximately two hours every two weeks. We understand that volunteers have other commitments, so we can offer some flexibility and can tailor your experience around your availability. 

Practical considerations You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the Events team, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers may be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. About the volunteer role

We are looking for a reliable and organised volunteer to provide administrative support to our regional manager, who manages a network of our charity shops.

This is a varied role, and you will help with a range of tasks which will support our regional manager with key admin duties to ensuring the smooth running of our retail services.

There is flexibility around when and where this volunteering is carried out. This may include volunteering remotely from home, field-based support, or volunteering from one of our shops.

Key tasks

- Providing general administrative support to the regional manager

- Responding to emails and telephone enquiries

- Sending comms to wider team on behalf of regional manager

- Collating information on behalf of the regional manager

- Preparing and supporting with a range of documents such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

- Assisting the regional manager to arrange interviews with selected candidates.

- Carrying out data entry and other administrative tasks

- Providing administrative support associated with shop openings, relocations and closures.

- Supporting retail team with stock generation support

- Handling information appropriately and confidentially

About you

You do not need previous experience of working in a charity or mental health setting, we are looking for someone who is approachable, dependable and comfortable with working with information, people and various administrative tasks.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Is a good communicator with a friendly and professional telephone manner

- Has good administrative and organisational skills

- Can work well both independently and as part of a team

- Can take direction and follow instructions

- Is proactive and able to use their initiative

- Is reliable, organised and has good attention to detail

Future Dreams is a breast cancer charity providing practical, emotional and wellbeing support for people affected by breast cancer.

At Future Dreams House in King’s Cross, we offer a wide range of classes, workshops, one-to-one services, support and educational activities, helping people feel supported throughout and beyond their breast cancer experience.

We are looking for organised, reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to provide administrative support to our Programmes & Services team and help us ensure that our activities run smoothly.

About the role

This is a practical, hands-on volunteer role supporting the behind-the-scenes administration involved in delivering our programme of workshops, classes and one-to-one services.

You will work alongside the Future Dreams team and help with a range of tasks, which may include:

• Creating simple banner images in Canva to promote workshops and activities.
• Creating timetables and signage in Canva for immersive days and events at Future Dreams House.
• Adding workshops, classes and one-to-one appointments to our Momence booking system.
• Updating, cancelling or rescheduling workshops and one-to-one appointments.
• Emailing customers about cancellations, timetable changes or rescheduled appointments.
• Checking information is accurate and up to date across our booking system and programme materials.
• Supporting the team with general administrative tasks as required.

Full guidance and training on Future Dreams systems and processes will be provided.

 About you

We are particularly looking for volunteers who are dependable, organised and comfortable working independently once trained.

You will ideally have:

• Good general IT and administrative skills.
• Experience using Canva, or confidence using similar design software.
• Basic graphic design skills and a good eye for presentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and trustworthy Executive Assistant to support the Founder with the day-to-day coordination, administration, communication, and priorities of the CIC.

You will work closely with the Founder and senior team to keep meetings, projects, communications, and actions organised and moving forward.

This is an unpaid voluntary position for someone passionate about fighting CSA and supporting survivors across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the Founder’s calendar, meetings, appointments, and commitments.
• Support the Founder with emails, correspondence, reports, presentations, and briefing documents.
• Attend meetings, take notes, track actions, and ensure follow-ups are completed through Asana.
• Coordinate with departments, volunteers, partners, and external stakeholders on behalf of the Founder.
• Support the organisation of events, training, fundraising activities, and key meetings.
• Maintain organised digital files, shared documents, and confidential information.
• Help the Founder stay informed by gathering updates and highlighting key priorities and deadlines.
• Handle sensitive information relating to CSA, survivors, and organisational matters with discretion.
• Provide additional administrative and coordination support as required.

Ideal Candidate

• Passionate about fighting CSA and supporting survivors.
• Highly organised, proactive, reliable, and able to manage competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional, empathetic, discreet, and trustworthy.
• Confident working independently and directly with senior leadership.

Previous Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant, administration, or project coordination experience is beneficial but not essential.

About Us

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton that supports, empowers, and advocates for women and children.

We aim to encourage women to become self-reliant by helping them identify their needs, make informed choices, and create their own solutions. Our services include a baby bank, a charity shop, and a range of community support initiatives for women facing crises or challenging circumstances.

Our Wolverhampton Baby Bank is a flagship project supporting families with children aged 0–3 by providing essential items and connecting them to vital community services.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and organised Volunteer Office Manager (Onsite Volunteer) to oversee day-to-day administrative operations and act as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and enquiries.

This is a key role within the organisation, ensuring smooth communication, efficient processes, and a high standard of compassionate service delivery to the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for all incoming phone inquiries and visitors.

• Respond to client inquiries professionally and compassionately.

• Conduct initial intake screening and gather essential client information.

• Schedule appointments and manage staff calendars.

• Maintain accurate records of calls, referrals, and appointments.

• Manage email correspondence and administrative communications.

• Prepare, organize, and securely maintain client documentation.

• Maintain digital and physical filing systems in compliance with data protection policies.

• Support day-to-day office operations and ensure smooth administrative workflow.

• Track action items from meetings and follow up with relevant staff.

• Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and operational documentation.

• Coordinate communication between staff, volunteers, and external partners.

• Monitor office supplies and maintain administrative resources.

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, confidentiality, and organizational policies.

• Escalate urgent, complex, or sensitive cases to appropriate personnel.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confident handling phone and client-facing interactions
• Compassionate, professional, and client-focused approach
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection practices

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous experience in office administration, customer service, or similar roles preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit, community, or healthcare settings is an advantage
• Degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field (preferred but not essential).

Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! • face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
