We are the RSPCA South Bucks Branch and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day. 

Our Charity Shop in Chesham, Buckinghamshire

Our shops play an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community and funds for our branch, so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. This role is based in our Chesham shop which sells a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items.

Volunteer E-commerce Assistant responsibilities

• Researching and listing the items for sale in our dedicated eBay store.

• A picture is worth 1,000 words so ensuring that attractive photographs are taken to boost eBay sales.

• Writing detailed and accurate descriptions of items.

• Responding in a timely and professional manner to any enquiries received from potential buyers. 

• Monitoring our eBay listings and account to keep them up to date. 

• Packaging items appropriately before taking them to the local post office and posting to the buyer. Parcels are small to medium sized.

• Maintaining accurate records of listed and sold items.

What we are looking for in volunteer E-commerce Assistant

• Ideally, you would have experience in selling items on eBay or other online selling sites.

• Can create attractive and accurate listings for a wide variety of items. 

• IT literacy and ability to use our laptop is required, as is the ability to use a mobile phone (provided) to take and upload clear photographs. 

• Capable of researching the origin and value of items using a variety of sources. 

• Reliability and an ongoing commitment (minimum of 2 months) are required.  Someone who can offer approximately 2 hours on their chosen day(s).  The shop is open Mon-Sat, between 9.30am-5pm and the role can be carried out at any time during opening hours.  We are happy to divide the role between several volunteers. 

• Capable of working with minimal supervision, once fully trained. 

• Volunteers need to be aged 18 or over.

• This role may be subject to a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Services) to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults. 

• Must be able to complete online induction training. You will need basic IT skills and access to a computer.

• Using online map searches to match cats and kittens to new homes

Make a difference to the lives of rescue cats! We have a number of roles within our cat rescue based in York. 

Home visitors

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare & quality of life for the cats & kittens in our care.

Our home visit volunteers help us to assess each home environment and a families circumstances to ensure our cats are suitably matched to their new family. This is a vital step in our rehoming process to ensure our cats get the happy ending they deserve.

You can dedicate as much or as little of your free time to this role- picking up outstanding home visits as and when you can.

This role can also be done remotely (from home) if necessary or preferred.

We rely on our fantastic team of dedicated volunteers to continue our work and would love for you to join us.

Fundraising

We are looking for cat loving people with a little free time and lots of ideas to join our fundraising team!
 

This role includes all aspects of fundraising including organising and taking charge of ideas/ events with the support of the wider team and helping out at events. 

We need your help to raise much needed funds to support the work that we do and help give cats and kittens in need a better future. 

Fostering

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare and quality of life of cats & kittens in our care.

• Do you love cats but unable to commit to one of your own?

• Do you live approx 40 min radius of York?

• If you have pets, do you have a spare room to foster cats/ kittens in need?

• Do you have access to a vehicle?
   

We are looking for people to join our wonderful supportive team of foster carers! 

Caring for cats/ kittens in your home while they undergo rehabilitation and wait to be adopted doesn't cost you a penny. We provide full training & support along the way.

Transport Volunteers

We are always looking for transport volunteers to join our team. This role involves transporting animals, equipment and donations too and from various locations in and around the York area. We may also occasionally need help transporting cats and equipment from further afield. 

As a Visitor Centre Welcome Volunteer, you will help create a positive and memorable experience for visitors coming to WWT Caerlaverock. By providing excellent customer service and encouraging visitor engagement, you'll support WWT's conservation work and inspire people to connect with wetlands and the wildlife they protect. 

This is a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of people, build confidence and customer service skills, and become part of a friendly and supportive team. You'll learn about wildlife and conservation, gain experience using a till system, and help visitors enjoy a fantastic day out in a beautiful wetland environment.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team, and we wouldn’t be able to maintain our internationally important wetland sites without their help. You will receive a very warm welcome, full induction & training, and be provided with the necessary equipment, uniform, and anything else needed to thrive in your role.

We are particularly looking for volunteers who are available to help out one day a week on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. This role is not suitable for people under 18 years.

Overview 

Are you a vegan wildlife enthusiast who wants to make a difference and protect UK Wildlife? Why not volunteer on our small, friendly team and create educational online content?

This remote, flexible, part-time (5 hrs/wk) role is ideal for someone passionate about UK wildlife, animal wellbeing, and ethical conservation.
 

Summary of the Role

• Create 1 social media post a week using Canva Pro.

• Your posts will focus solely on UK wildlife issues. Eg: hunting, shooting, human-animal conflict, roadkill.

• Research resources with appropriate copyright licenses (copyright training given).

• Critically analyse information to create challenging responses to the status quo and campaign for UK wildlife rights.

• Write persuasive captions to accompany your post.

• Submit your post to a feedback and edit process before publication.

• File your published post in our folder system.

Volunteers Wanted! Help Bring Our Rewilded Nature Trail to Life

The Sherriff Centre is looking for enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to help care for and bring our new Rewilded Nature Trail to life in West Hampstead.

You could help with guided nature tours, gardening and seasonal maintenance, looking after our wildlife habitats, or simply helping keep the trail welcoming and accessible.

No experience is needed — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved! You’ll learn about biodiversity and sustainability, meet new people, gain practical experience and make a visible difference to your local community.

We welcome people who can volunteer regularly or occasionally, including weekdays, weekends and school holidays. Full training and support will be provided.

While you are not expected to be a primary marketer, you act as a vital brand ambassador on the hill—ensuring a safe, inspiring, and successful event for our charity fundraisers.

Key Responsibilities

• On-the-Ground Safety Management: Support with the safety, navigation, and physical well-being of participants during UK day challenges and overseas trips alongside our in country adventure providers.
• Dynamic Risk Assessment: Monitor weather, terrain, and group fitness in real-time, making decisive adjustments to the itinerary to mitigate risk.
• Participant Support & Motivation: Provide high-quality stewardship, coaching, and psychological encouragement to help charity fundraisers safely achieve their physical goals.
• Emergency Response: Administer first aid if needed and coordinate with local emergency services in the event of an incident.
• Brand Advocacy: Enthusiastically speak about the charity’s mission and future trip portfolio during the event, inspiring participants to stay connected with the cause.
