Admin Volunteer, Community Fundraising [Bristol]

Are you looking to use your admin skills to make a difference?

Information about the role

You’ll provide admin support to your local Community Fundraising team. This may include data entry, sending emails and completing research. This will make sure all our donors receive great supporter care, as well as helping us reach more potential supporters. 

Location: Bristol

Suggested contribution: One day per week (can be flexible around your commitments).

Availability: Volunteering will take place at a time that suits you, within Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

Main activities may include:

• Researching new audiences such as schools, local businesses and faith groups based near the Shelter office.

• Support Regional Community Fundraiser in approaching new supporters.

• Provide supporters with fundraising materials and updates on our work by post and email.

• Maintaining supporter records on our database.

• Maintaining basic income spreadsheet such as Just Giving page totals.

• Preparing fundraising packs, posters and documents.

• Distributing flyers and posters in your community to promote our fundraising events.

This role fights the housing emergency by supporting our Community Fundraisers to raise money that enables Shelter to provide advice, support and campaigning for change.

• The role, including learning and communications, are flexible, so can be tailored so they best suit your needs and preferences. 

• You will be able to claim reasonable volunteering expenses in line with Shelter’s volunteer policy. Where financial circumstances would be a barrier to volunteering, we may be able to offer these funds in advance. 

• You will be able to access our volunteer support package, including our colleague assistance programme and Shelter’s network of mental health first aiders.

 Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a volunteer, preferably with corporate fundraising experience to research the corporate giving landscape and the interests of potential doners. As a Corporate Fundraising Volunteer for unpaid carers, you will play a key part in helping Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing secure funding that enables us to continue and expand our vital services for unpaid carers across the borough.

Your support will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for carers by enabling new services, resources, and opportunities. This role is ideal for someone with good communication and organisational skills who enjoys building connections and making a tangible difference in the community.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Identify potential corporate doners and partners whose corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals align with our mission and values.

• Approach local and national businesses over the telephone to inform them of the work of Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing

• Keep accurate records of all approaches and outcomes.

• Attend and help organise fundraising events that support our mission.

About the role:

As a community champion volunteer you’ll be supporting Sense’s fundraising team, playing a vital role in helping Sense to raise funds and awareness to support people with complex disabilities. 

You’ll engage with individuals, local businesses, and regional press to share our mission, organise events, and inspire others to take action. Whether you’re great at planning events, researching opportunities or connecting with your community, this role has something for you.  

This is a flexible role, with the opportunity to volunteer either virtually or in your local community. We are looking for volunteers able to offer a minimum commitment of 2 hours per month. 

We’re looking for people who are passionate about Sense’s work to support disabled people with complex needs and who have a calm, kind and friendly personality.

Please note that you will not be providing care for the people Sense supports as part of this role.

Due to the nature of the volunteer role, we cannot accept applications for anyone under the age of 18.

The four areas of the role:

As a Community Champion, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities, organised into four main role categories. You can choose to get involved in one or more of these areas, and we’ll discuss your preferences with you as part of the application process. Please note, we don’t expect volunteers to take on every area. Instead, we’ll focus on what interests you most and shape the role around your strengths and skills.

Event volunteer:

Support Sense’s Community Fundraising team by:

• Organising your own fundraising events in aid of Sense.
• Supporting and participating in fundraising events at your local Sense services, and shops.
• Supporting with fundraising admin, for example sourcing prizes for Sense fundraisers.

Skills needed:

• Creative, with fresh fundraising ideas and enthusiasm.
• Organised, with the ability help co-ordinate multiple aspects of an event.

Local public relations (PR) volunteer:

Boost Sense’s profile in your local community by:

• Writing content for local press releases.
• Building a network of local media contacts.
• Supporting regional output of national campaigns. 

Skills needed:

• Strong written communication
• Able to follow branding and messaging guidelines.
• Self-motivated and proactive in seeking opportunities. 

Fundraising researcher:

Help boost Sense’s regional income by researching available grants, partnerships and other local connections. Responsibilities include:

• Researching local grants and business partnerships.
• Researching networking events.
• Helping us to source prizes for Sense fundraising events.

Skills needed:

• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
• Organised, ensuring new leads are accurately recorded and shared. 

Community connector:

Act as an ambassador for Sense, attending events across your community to thank supporters, and forge new partnerships.

• Attending cheque presentations, thanking our supporters.

Join the MINDSET Fundraising Committee – Help Us Launch a New Charity

MINDSET is a brand‑new men’s wellbeing and personal growth charity, and we’re looking for a small group of committed volunteers to join our Fundraising Committee.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to equip men with the tools, skills, and confidence they need to live happier, healthier, more resilient lives — before they reach crisis point.

To make this mission a reality, we need a strong start. That’s where you come in.

What the Fundraising Committee Will Do

We’re looking for volunteers who can give just a few hours per month to help us:

• Identify small grants and local funding opportunities

• Support simple fundraising campaigns and appeals

• Help plan community fundraising activities

• Build relationships with local supporters, groups, and businesses

• Bring creative ideas to help us raise our profile and generate early income

• Lay the foundations for sustainable fundraising as we grow

You don’t need to be a fundraising expert — just motivated, organised, and willing to help.

Who We’re Looking For

People who are:

Experience in fundraising, events, marketing, or community engagement is helpful but not essential.

Support the work of St John Ambulance in your community by volunteering as a Community Volunteer, an exciting new role which is designed to revamp how volunteering looks in the modern world; flexible, innovative and is open for all.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient. Once we have completed your selection and screening for this role, we will provide you with an induction, as well as invite you to any necessary training sessions.
