Use your financial skills to change lives Build on Belief is a growing, ambitious charity helping people affected by drug and alcohol problems find peer support, rebuild their lives and strengthen their communities.

We’re looking for a Finance Trustee (Treasurer) to play a vital role in our next stage of growth. As Treasurer, you’ll be a key voice on our Board, helping shape strategy and ensure strong, transparent financial governance. Working closely with the Chair, CEO and fellow trustees, you’ll oversee budgets, financial reporting and risk, and support long term planning — helping us balance ambition with sustainability.

We’re keen to hear from finance professionals with experience in financial oversight or strategic planning. Charity experience is welcome but not essential; what matters most is good judgement, clarity of thought and a commitment to social impact.

This voluntary role involves bi-monthly Board meetings and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference with your expertise.

Following successful short listing of your application, you will be invited to an in person interview. This is a relaxed opportunity for us to get to know you, and you to learn more about the role and ensure it is a good fit for your volunteering aspirations. We will then undertake necessary screening for the role, which may include a DBS check, right to volunteer check, professional references and an occupational health assessment. Please note this process usually takes around 6 weeks.

If successful in your role, you will be invited to attend a Welcome Event and Induction, which will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Big Issue Oxford is looking for a community‑minded volunteer to support our vendors and help deliver a new weekly community information sheet in Summertown. We’re looking for someone friendly, organised and comfortable using digital tools (email, apps, social media).

Ideally 1–2 days a week.

About the Role 

We are seeking a locally‑based volunteer who is passionate about community connection, social inclusion and supporting Big Issue vendors to thrive. This role combines hands‑on support in our Oxford office with community engagement work in Summertown through our new partnership with Neya to build better connections between people living and work in the local area. 

The volunteer will support the distribution of the weekly "Local Issue” to help curate local content, and work alongside vendors distributing it at their pitch. They will also play an active part in office operations, supporting vendors, the sales desk, and our outreach activities. 

This is a great opportunity for someone who knows and loves their local area, enjoys meeting people, and wants to help strengthen community connections.
