At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference. Through volunteering as an Emergency Responder, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering essential first aid and lifesaving clinical care at community and major events in your areas, including at sporting events, concerts, community festivals.

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

We will be running a number of information events locally. The date and location within Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire will be shared soon. If you require this information, please contact the hiring manager listed at the bottom of this advert.

Invitation to selection events will be shared with candidates once an application is received.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role. This will include a 6-day in-person training course split over three weekends.

About Make A Smile

Make A Smile is a UK charity dedicated to bringing joy, play, and magical experiences to children facing illness, disability, or disadvantage. About The Role

The Innovations Officer leads the development of a new project from concept to rollout, ensuring Make A Smile continues to evolve and deliver high‑quality, engaging experiences. You will design, test, refine, and launch an innovations project that strengthens the charity’s impact across all chapters.

Key Responsibilities

You will take ownership of an innovations project and guide it through every stage of development. Responsibilities include:

● Creating a full project outline, including aims, failure criteria, projected costs, timeline, and required skills.

● Recruiting and managing an Innovations Subcommittee with the skills needed to deliver the project.

● Delegating tasks, providing support, and ensuring subcommittee members fulfil their roles.

● Setting up all required admin, including risk assessments, reflection templates, and task‑tracking systems.

● Leading the creation of a prototype or pilot version of the project.

● Running tests with well‑established chapters and gathering feedback from volunteers, committees, and event leads.

● Overseeing multiple rounds of refinement until the project is ready for rollout.

● Supporting the staged rollout of the project across chapters.

● Providing regular updates to Trustees, including progress, budget status, and test outcomes.

Innovations Officers are expected to contribute around 4 hours per week, including subcommittee meetings, project development, and monthly Charity Leadership Meetings.

• Selection will be through interview. Following successful interview volunteer will undergo right to volunteer checks, health questionnaire and DBS.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:

• Welcome Event (Induction) - Welcome events will be on Thursday evenings. Inductions will take place at the same time. Details of times, venue, etc tbc. These will be held at Preston, Lancaster and Kirkham on a Thursday evening
• Training for role - Requirement for training course to be undertaken and regular attendance at training evenings. Level 3 qualification awarded, requiring 6 days face to face training plus e-learning.

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy?

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team.

We are looking for volunteers to provide training and support to our mentors in prison. There may be some additional preparation and/ or administrative tasks in between volunteering days at the prison.

Our prison volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by delivering training sessions for prison mentors and offering ongoing advice, guidance and support through mentor meetings.

Volunteer recruitment dates

The closing date for applications to attend our next round of training is 26 April 2026. In some circumstances, volunteer vacancies may close early. Successful applicants will be sent interview questions in advance with notice to prepare. We will respond to all applications. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between 27 April and 8 May 2026. This is an opportunity for you to meet our regional team, to find out more about you and for us to share more information about the volunteering role.

Training:

You'll be given high quality training to prepare you for volunteering with Shannon Trust. This takes place over 4 training sessions and via our online training portal. We ask that volunteers aim to complete the training in one course as this means that you will be ready to start actively volunteering. The next training sessions for volunteering for people applying to be a prison based volunteer will take place as follows.

Why we want you

Shannon Trust’s vision is of a future where everyone can experience the positive impact of learning. As a prison volunteer your role will be at the heart of our organisation as you support our mentors in prisons. This will include delivering training to new mentors and supporting existing mentors to develop and deliver our Turning Pages and Count Me In programmes. You will be volunteering alongside Shannon Trust facilitators and / or frontline prison staff to empower mentors and ensure no one is left out of learning.

• Delivering initial, and ongoing, training to mentors in prisons

• Using your skills to build positive relationships with frontline prison staff, people in prison and other organisations
• Training and supporting mentors to collect and submit data and learner feedback
• Supporting with the planning of, and attendance at, celebration events
• Collecting and sharing good news stories and feedback
• Attending area meetings and sharing good practice with other volunteers
• Engaging with quarterly reviews to receive support and discuss progress
• Acting as an ambassador for Shannon Trust in all that you do, sharing the vision and values of the charity throughout your volunteering

The skills you need

• A commitment to providing non-judgemental support to people in prison
• Able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years and have flexibility to visit the prison at times required
• Strong communication skills and are able to use these to inspire others
• Able to deliver engaging training and identify training and support needs for mentors
• Able to manage own time and prioritise
• Able to keep up to date with Shannon Trust news and communications and share relevant information with the wider prison team
• Able to use IT

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Social Media Marketing Volunteer to help raise our digital profile and share the story of life at FFPG. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys filming, editing and creating simple, engaging content for platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

You’ll help us launch our TikTok presence, establish a regular posting rhythm and showcase the impact of our ecotherapy and community activities. One key focus over the next few months will be supporting our recruitment of “buddy volunteers” who assist participants during gardening sessions.

This role combines occasional on-site visits with remote flexible work. You can shape your own schedule, with a minimum of one post per month (ideally weekly).

Key Responsibilities

• Visit the garden semi-regularly to film short clips, interviews or “day in the garden” moments

• Edit and produce simple videos and posts for TikTok, Instagram and Facebook

• Help establish a consistent posting rhythm (minimum one post per month)

• Highlight garden activities, seasonal work, volunteer opportunities and upcoming events

• Support digital promotion for specific campaigns, such as buddy volunteer recruitment and events

• Post content on our social media platforms

• Collaborate with the Director and staff team to ensure content aligns with FFPG’s mission and tone.

About Forest Farm Peace Garden

Forest Farm Peace Garden (FFPG) is a therapeutic community garden in Hainault supporting people’s wellbeing through ecotherapy, food growing and nature-based activities. We work with adults experiencing mental health challenges and social isolation, offering a safe, supportive environment to connect with nature, learn new skills and build confidence. Volunteers, staff and community members help care for our two-acre site, keeping the garden thriving throughout the seasons.

Volunteer Toddler Activities Assistant (Term Time)

About The Role

At WWT we shape unforgettable experiences; we want people to feel part of something amazing and this includes our youngest of visitors and the people they visit with.  We are therefore looking for keen and enthusiastic people to help run our weekly Wednesday term time toddler group: The Gosling Gang. You will enjoy working with other volunteers, families and young children; have good communication skills, an outgoing personality and an ability to think on your feet.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

No formal qualifications are required. However, for this role it is essential that you have:

• Experience of working with the toddler age group
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to talk to visitors both on a one-to-one level and to larger groups
• An interest in Education related activities
• Previous experience in running similar events would be desirable

Unfortunately this role is not suitable for Under 18’s.
