Taunton Brewhouse is looking for trustees from all backgrounds. Key is sharing our vision for a bold, brilliant cultural venue in Taunton, adding to our existing skills and expedrience and prepared to to play an active role in meeting the challenges ahead.
If you have experience in general management and/or in HR, marketing or fundraising do get in touch. We also seek a lead trustee on finance - please see separate announcement.
As a trustee, you'll share responsibility for:
- agreeing strategy and goals for Taunton Brewhouse
- appointing and setting salaries for senior management
- giving oversight and support to management
- paying attention to financial management
- ensuring due diligence in all regulatory matters including safe-guarding
- ensuring a robust approach to management of risk.
You'll attend Board meeting although much work is carried out in projects or committees. You'll be an ambassador for Taunton Brewhouse and support our wider endeavours through attending press and community events.
There are 5 formal meetings pa held in evenings at Taunton Brewhouse. Other meetings are generally in the day and are organised around the diaries of those involved. We also aim for an annual 'away-day' to enable trustees time to reflect, plan and develop the organisation and themselves.
Please note that exceptional expenses are paid by prior agreement.

Mind in Haringey is an independent charity organisation providing vital mental health services to our community in Haringey for over 35 years.

It Gets Better UK is at an exciting moment. Over the past six years, we've grown from a grassroots initiative into a charity reaching millions of LGBTQ+ young people across the UK. Through digital storytelling, educational resources, and community engagement, we're combating isolation and discrimination – ensuring every young person knows their power and worthiness as individuals.
Now we're looking for our next Chair of Trustees to lead us into our next chapter.
What makes this role special?
This isn't just governance for governance's sake. The impact is immediate and profound. Young people tell us our content helped them through their darkest moments – some say we're the reason they're still alive. You'll work with a passionate board and our CEO/Founder Dr Alex Rhys OBE, whose vision, resilience and commitment to the mission has been extraordinary. The team – both volunteer and paid – is genuinely special.
The opportunity:
You'll provide strategic leadership at a pivotal time, helping us build on our momentum while navigating the challenges every growing charity faces. We need someone who can balance big vision with practical governance, understand charity finance and risk, and chair meetings that drive real decisions while creating space for genuine discussion.
What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Demonstrable commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and youth rights
- Proven governance experience, ideally as a trustee or board member
- Strong understanding of charity governance and trustee responsibilities
- Excellent chairing skills with ability to facilitate constructive discussions
- Strategic thinking balanced with practical implementation
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Desirable:
- Experience in charity/voluntary sector, particularly youth or LGBTQ+ organisations
- Understanding of digital engagement and online community building
- Financial management and fundraising knowledge
- Networks within funding, policy, or LGBTQ+ advocacy circles

- Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks

Citizens Advice Winchester District is a dynamic, values-led, and award-winning local charity which is passionate about creating a fairer society for all.
We do this by helping people to resolve a wide range of problems they’re facing, so that everyone can achieve a good quality of life.Every year, we provide free, confidential and impartial advice on issues such as debt, housing, benefits and employment advice to people across the Winchester district, many of whom are in desperate or challenging situations and have nowhere else to turn. We may also suggest to our clients' other agencies that may be helpful to them, depending on their individual circumstances.
Our greatest asset is our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and trustees, who also advocate for lasting policy change both locally and nationally. To help us in our work, we are seeking an additional 3-4 trustees to complete our board and help us lead the charity over our next phase of strategic development.
The role
We want our board to have a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds and are looking for strategic thinkers with a commitment to good governance and a willingness to work collaboratively and challenge constructively. Previous experience of Citizens Advice, or of being a Trustee (or equivalent), would be advantageous, but the commitment and enthusiasm to help us shape the work and strategic direction of our forward-thinking charity is essential.
We would be particularly interested to hear from people with experience in HR (especially those with current CIPD membership), Charitable Trust and Foundation fundraising, and change management.

Do you have experience in digital and social media? Can you help us improve our communications and raise the profile of the work we do?
We are seeking an expert, creative Volunteer Digital and Social Media Lead. You will help us promote our programmes supporting people in prison and young people at risk of entering the justice system, as well as our Community Bike Shop, which funds and strengthens this work.
What you’ll do:
• Design and schedule engaging posts, stories, and reels across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and more to grow our audience.
• Develop strategies for viral campaigns and collaborations to boost awareness and donations and share your expertise with our team.
• Analyse metrics (engagement, reach, growth) and refine tactics based on what resonates.
• Create eye-catching visuals using tools like Canva.
• Update our website as required and make suggestions for improvements.
• Work with our expert Trustee to consider how we can use online retail platforms to sell our refurbished bikes.
What we’ll provide:
· Creative freedom within agreed priorities and tone of voice.
· Access to the right tools plus shared photos, stories and impact stats.
· A named contact, light-touch sign-off, and occasional check-ins to remove blockers.
Time commitment: we’ll agree a realistic scope with the right volunteer based on their availability.

About us
UpCycle, works with individuals in prisons and young people at risk in marginalised communities. We use bicycle maintenance workshops to help build life skills, enhance employability, prevent offending and reoffending, and foster social reintegration. We also offer lead rides, bike fit-it sessions and other ways to engage with vulnerable people.
In prisons
· We delivered 956 un-refurbished bikes and received back 768 refurbished bikes across eight prisons and one Young Offenders Institution, training over 238 individuals.
In the Community
· Over 1034 bikes were donated to our Community Bike Shop, of those we refurbished and distributed more than 612 to underserved communities locally and overseas.
· Workshops in Bradford engaged 361 participants in diverse cycling-related activities across the area.
· "Bike to the Future" and other initiatives reached 220 young people with more complex needs.

Bath Area Play Project are passionate about every child's right to play and enabling children to thrive. We are looking for a Chair of our small Trustee Board to support our vision and ethos, enabling the continuation of our support services for children and families, leading strategic oversight and ensuring we are resilient for change.
Our volunteer Trustees meet early evening, every 6 - 8 weeks, alternating in person in Bath and online. They are responsible for ensuring we are compliant with operational management delegated to the Director and other staff, allowing them to focus on governance and strategic decision making. Trustees support the staff to be the most effective they can be in their various roles through good knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks.
Perhaps you have or are involved at a senior level in a Charity, have skills such as Marketing, Business or Early Years which can be used to help BAPP develop services for children and families.
BAPP provide a range of services including an Ofsted registered Nursery & Pre-school, Ofsted registered Holiday Playschemes for disabled children and those with additional needs, Children & Family Support, Alternative Provision for children with SEND and our long standing Community based Family Playdays. As we work with vulnerable children, Trustees are required to have an Enhanced DBS and to register as one of our Trustees as part of our Ofsted registration. There are 8 Trustee Meetings each year, alternating in person in Bath and online which includes our AGM. Join Taunton Brewhouse Board as Finance Trustee, develop skills in charity finance and support us in bringing entertainment and culture to our community.
Having grown substantially over the past 12 years, we are moving into a new era of development. This includes and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the founding of the theatre which takes place in 2027.
Our current Trustee for Finance retires shortly, and we seek a new Finance/Director to take forward this key area.
As Trustee responsible for Finance, you will have specific responsibilities for
- providing financial guidance to the Board on matters put before it
- chairing quarterly meeting of the F&GP Committee
- oversight of financial management through monthly meetings with senior finance team
- liasing with professional advisers as necessary
You will share with other trustees the regular responsibilities for all:
- agree strategy and goals for the charity and Taunton Brewhouse
- appoint and set salarie for senior management
- give oversight and support to management
- ensure due diligence in regulatory matters including safe-guarding
- pay attention to financial management
- ensure a robust approach to the management of risk.
Apart from time commitments indicated for Finance, the Board meets quarterly on Monday evenings with other meetings as necessary (sometimes on line). There is an annual 'away-day' for trustees and the AGM which takes place in November.
