We are looking to grow our Board of Trustees to help to increase our reach, enhance our profile, spread our message and continue to develop sustainably.

We are seeking Trustees who will bring creative vision champion the role art plays in public cohesion and transforming people’s lives.We would like to recruit up to three new Trustees during 2026, ideally with experience of Finance, Fundraising or Artistic Programming.Arts at the Old Fire Station (AOFS) is known and respected for its values-led approach and passion for social change, and all Trustees are expected to share that commitment.  

We are Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC).

Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by a genetic leukodystrophy. Formerly ALD Life, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for people affected by adrenoleukodystrophy and adrenomyeloneuropathy, the charity was established in 2004.

Due to popular demand, we extended our services to support all leukodystrophies in 2019 and became Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity.

Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for adrenoleukodystrophy patients and their families. Our charitable work is supported by our chain of five charity shops across south east London.

With scant resources we are always in need of trustworthy and reliable volunteers to assist retail staff.

As a volunteer you will also be involved in receiving, sorting, steaming, and pricing our lovely donations, serving at the till, and using your creativity to create displays around the shop. Training will be provided. As a volunteer, you will be helping to raise money for the Octavia Foundation and support the work we do in the local community.

Children North East provides life-changing services including vital mental health counselling, community interest projects, support for families in crisis, and safe spaces that help children and young people overcome obstacles and thrive.

This is based at our shop at 3a Northgate Centre (behind McDonalds), Heckmondwike WF16 9RL.

Role Purpose:

To assist our charity shop team(s) in raising the essential funds which allow us to continue supporting local children and their families.

Tasks & activities:

Supporting the day-to-day running of our charity shop, in which some of the activities may include:

• Handling and sorting donations
• Setting up attractive displays on the shop floor
• Providing friendly customer service on the till

Personal qualities & experience:

Previous experience of working in retail is useful, but not essential as full training will be provided.

For this role you will need to be:

• Friendly and enthusiastic
• Honest, reliable and have a willingness to learn

We provide training for all volunteers that join us. Our peer support training is accredited.  20-25 hours of volunteering training is required and is self led online.

Moshun.Earth is trying to solve a problem that doesn't really have a category yet: how do we make ocean restoration investable at scale?
