As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Chetacare

We deliver predictive chronic disease management to African patients through continuous monitoring between clinic visits.

Social Media Manager (Linkedin, Instagram, Twitter)

About Chetacare
Chetacare is a predictive chronic disease management platform built for Africa. We help patients living with hypertension and diabetes stay consistent with their medications, access clinical care remotely, and get triaged by real humans when it matters most. We reach patients through a mobile app, WhatsApp, and an IVR voice system, so no one is left out, regardless of their device or digital literacy.
We need a voice as strong as our mission.

Role description
As our Volunteer Social Media Manager, you will own Chetacare's presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter/X. You will be the person who turns our story, the patients we reach, the emergencies we prevent, the communities we serve into content that informs, moves, and grows our audience.
This is not a content scheduling role. This is a storytelling role. We want someone who understands that behind every data point is a human life, and who knows how to make that land online.

What you will be doing

• Managing and growing Chetacare's LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter/X accounts
• Developing and executing a monthly content calendar across all three platforms
• Writing captions, threads, and posts that are clear, human, and on-brand
• Sharing Chetacare's impact stories, health statistics, and platform updates in engaging formats
• Engaging with followers, responding to comments, and building community
• Tracking performance metrics and sharing monthly insights with the team
• Collaborating with our graphic designer to align visuals and copy
• Staying current with conversations around African health, digital health, and global health equity

What we are looking for

• Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts, ideally for a brand, NGO, startup, or campaign in Africa.
• Strong writing skills, you can adapt your tone across platforms without losing the human touch
• Understanding of what performs on LinkedIn vs Instagram vs Twitter/X
• Comfortable with scheduling tools
• Self-starter who can work independently in an async, remote environment
• Genuine interest in healthcare, African innovation, or social impact

Bonus if you have:

• Experience in health communications, global health, or development sector content
• Basic graphic design skills or familiarity with Canva
• A strong understanding of African digital communities

What you will gain

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations

*This position is based in Uganda between late June and early September 2026. You will need to be available for some weeks during this period. Duration of availability can be discussed.*

About EPAfrica
Education Partnerships Africa (EPAfrica) is a volunteer-led organisation with a mission to improve secondary education in East Africa and create opportunities for young people. EPAfrica partners directly with schools to support their self-driven growth through establishing a strong resource base and implementing holistic development programs. The organisation is dedicated to making a sustainable impact by investing in both infrastructure and the long-term capabilities of partner schools. 

Role Description
As a Project Manager (PM), you will lead EPAfrica’s Summer Team, which is our in-country leadership group responsible for overseeing and supporting Project Associates to deliver meaningful programmes of investment in Ugandan schools. You’ll take on a leadership role that blends operational oversight, pastoral care, and high-level decision-making to ensure the success and safety of our summer projects. This is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute meaningfully to international development, and support passionate volunteers in-country.

Key Responsibilities
•⁠  ⁠Direct managerial responsibility for our volunteers in-country, including our Project Associates and a “Summer Team” of coordinators. 

•⁠  ⁠Lead and support a cohort of Project Associates throughout their placements in partner schools, including:

* Delivering trainings on topics such as project management, effective international development practices, safety and wellbeing, and cross-cultural communication

* Provide pastoral support and act as the first point of contact for volunteers in-country

* Oversee project progress, supporting Project Associates in addressing challenges, and ensuring investment projects stay aligned with EPAfrica’s mission and theory of change

•⁠  ⁠Implement our in-country monitoring and evaluation programme, enabling us to effectively plan for and deliver future investments. This includes: 

* Monitoring visits to current & recent investment schools to gauge impact of EPAfrica’s work

* Assessment visits to potential future EPAfrica participant schools

•⁠  ⁠Staying up-to-date research into developments in the Kenyan education system and potential impacts on our work

•⁠  ⁠Maintaining relationships with our network of local partners.

•⁠  ⁠Manage risks and implement an emergency response to any crises that might arise. 

•⁠  ⁠Maintain clear and proactive communication with the central UK-based charity team.

Who we are looking for
•⁠  ⁠Strong familiarity with, and demonstrated interest in, EPAfrica’s values and operating model.

•⁠  ⁠A keen demonstrated interest in grassroots international development is required; previous experience in East Africa (volunteering, fieldwork, or prior work experience) is an advantage.

•⁠  ⁠Experience managing teams to deliver project-based work, leading by example. 

•⁠  ⁠Effective communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. 

•⁠  ⁠Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems under pressure, with good judgement, and decision-making skills.

•⁠  ⁠Willingness to operate in a challenging, fast-paced environment, taking accountability for team decisions.

•⁠  ⁠Experience as a Project Associate or previous Summer Team involvement with EPAfrica preferred.

The Commitment
The Project Manager role lasts for ten weeks from late June to early September, with limited flexibility on start and finish dates. There will be some UK-based training in advance of the placement, with preparation beginning in June. 

Location: Mbarara, Uganda

Compensation: Non-salaried placement, with the following expenses covered:

•⁠  ⁠Flights: Round-trip flights to Kampala, and internal travel from Kampala to Mbarara, covered.

•⁠  ⁠Accommodation: Fully covered throughout the EPAfrica summer. No contribution required towards rent or utilities.

•⁠  ⁠Programme delivery costs: All costs associated with programme delivery paid for by the charity.

•⁠  ⁠Additional Costs: Limited personal subsistence costs, plus any personal travel elsewhere within Uganda (e.g., for your holiday week).
