Role Summary

As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy Canada. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects ihsan (excellence), clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals

• Campaign Assets: Support event and program launches by designing posters, promo kits, and other visual collateral

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides)

• Revision & Feedback: Adapt designs based on team feedback while maintaining efficiency and quality

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space

• Project Management: Maintain organized design files and deliver work in a timely manner

What we’re looking for

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines

• Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy

• Ability to take direction while contributing creative input

• A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design

• Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)

• Excellent communication and time-management skills

Come and save vegetables from being wasted at the wholesale markets, turn them into tasty nutritious meals, and help to fight food poverty and food waste.

This is a great chance to learn about the practicalities of sustainability, fight poverty, and of course taste lovely food (Lunch is included!)

Warehouse helper:

What will I be doing?

• Either, picking and sorting through fresh produce at the Wholesale markets
• Some lifting and use of light machinery such as pallet trucks and a bit of data-entry

When?

8am – 2pm weekdays. You do not have to stay for the whole shift - even a couple of hours is helpful

Kitchen helper

What will I be doing?

• Sorting, prepping and chopping produce
• packaging meals and washing up

When?

Shifts are between 10am-3pm on weekdays. You do not have to stay for the whole shift - even a couple of hours is helpful

Sea Cadets Leith, based in Prince of Wales Docks, is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join our committee team. Whether you chair the committee, run our social media, or help us fundraise on an ad-hoc basis, you’ll be supporting young people to access opportunities to create life-long memories and friendships.

At Leith we aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. We offer a range of different activities from sailing, windsurfing and powerboating - to rock climbing, camping, and music - plus, so much more!

Leith is a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. We currently have 24 cadets who come from all over the area. Our cadets come from all walks of life, with some experiencing adverse childhood events, and limited access to social youth groups. Without support from volunteers like you, our charity cannot provide the adventure, community, and opportunities that young people experience through the Sea Cadets.

The primary purpose of the CFAV is to assist in the development of young people as
Individuals and active citizens by providing safe and rewarding training, direction and guidance.
The secondary purposes of a CFAV are:
- Maintain the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) values
- Assist the Unit Training Officer (UTO) to plan a varied training programme.
- Safely and securely maintain the unit’s resources and equipment.

We will support you to understand your role, how to do it and the difference you make to the SCC
- Understand the skills and experience you have, as well as your aspirations for volunteering
- Provide you with an induction, ongoing support and training to undertake your volunteer role
- Provide regular updates about any developments in the charity that are relevant to you
- Value your contributions and providing you with potential opportunities to progress

We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Volunteer Recruitment Officer to utilise their excellent administrative and personal skills to advertise for, shortlist and onboard new volunteers.

Location: Remote (although ability to join occasional face-to-face training and meetings in Bounds Green desirable)

About Bounds Green Food Bank: 

Open since June 2020, we serve over 4,600 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items to build a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people who find themselves in crisis where they need assistance to feed themselves and their families.

The role: 

• Liaise with different team leads to create enticing job descriptions for new volunteer roles

• Post and manage volunteer adverts on different recruitment websites like Indeed, Charity Job and Third Sector Jobs

• Review applications and shortlist suitable applicants, which will include speaking with them to answer questions and collaborating with the relevant team lead to organise interviews or opportunities to visit us to learn more

• Update the database with applicant contact points and recruitment progress

• Support with onboarding new volunteers, e.g. ensuring they have completed the relevant registration forms, provided any necessary documents,and are able to join our on-line communities. 

Person specification: 

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English

• Fantastic organisational skills

• Experience in administrative or recruitment roles desirable but not essential

• Willing to learn about what we do and why, to engage applicants to join us

PUBLICITY & MARKETING VOLUNTEER

Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Publicity & Marketing volunteers play an essential role in publicising and raising awareness of their local branch’s activities.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

• Collecting case studies from the clients we help

• Writing stories for the local press

• Distributing literature

• Arranging talks

• Working with the Central Team to promote panel activities

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

What you’ll need for this role

• Confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email

• Confident using social media platforms

• Warm, approachable and confident to engage with clients to gather their story

Housing & Property Compliance Lead — Living With Hope CIC

Living With Hope CIC is seeking a capable Housing & Property Compliance Lead to support the organisation’s accommodation standards, property readiness and housing compliance.

We provide safe accommodation and structured support for individuals escaping or recovering from domestic abuse. Our mission is to restore stability, dignity and opportunity.

This is not a passive advisory role.

We are looking for someone who understands housing, property standards and compliance, and can help ensure our accommodation is safe, presentable, properly managed and credible to councils, commissioners, funders and referral partners.

The role will involve:

• Supporting property compliance across our accommodation portfolio
• Reviewing housing standards, property readiness and inspection processes
• Helping strengthen fire safety, HMO, maintenance and compliance evidence
• Supporting SEA/Housing Benefit credibility from a property standards perspective
• Helping create a clear property readiness checklist for new accommodation
• Reviewing property risks before they become operational or reputational issues
• Supporting documentation, reports and evidence packs for councils and stakeholders
• Ensuring our housing standards support resident safety, commissioner confidence and long-term growth

We are especially interested in someone with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Supported accommodation
• HMO management or housing compliance
• Property management or lettings
• Environmental health, housing standards or inspections
• Fire safety, maintenance or facilities management
• Housing Benefit, SEA or local authority accommodation standards
• Property operations within a charity, CIC, housing provider or social enterprise

This position is currently voluntary, but it is designed for someone who wants to help build a credible, high-standard housing model that can scale.

Expected commitment: approximately 1 board meeting per month, plus property compliance input where required.
