Job Description:

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children. We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions.
We offer short term home visits, counselling sessions, baby bank, practical & emotional One to One support, Domestic violence groups, Awareness raising workshops and drop in or chat groups to help women facing crises or challenging situations.

Purpose
To manage and grow our social media presence through creative content, audience engagement, and analysing audience engagement to help amplify WFRC’s mission.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Help create, implement, and maintain a social media strategy and content plan
• Use social media platforms to promote the activities, impact, and achievements of WFRC
• Keep social media channels regularly updated with engaging and relevant content
• Encourage audience interaction by increasing comments, shares, and engagement across platforms
• Ensure communications reach a wide range of local stakeholders and diverse audiences
• Develop and manage content for our website and social media platforms, including Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
• Identify and select the most effective channels to engage our diverse audiences
• Stay up to date with WFRC events, projects, and news, identifying key opportunities for promotion across social media channels
• Develop publicity materials and communication approaches to better engage underrepresented communities
• Visit projects and attend events to gather content and write articles or stories for our blog and online platforms
• Manage the organisation, filing, and archiving of photographs, videos, and other digital media content

Qualifications:

• Experience managing social media accounts for a charity, organisation, business, personal project, or student initiative is preferred.
• Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, and YouTube.
• Experience using content creation and design tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
• Creative thinking skills with the ability to develop new ideas, campaigns, and promotional content.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, and community members.
• Interest or experience in community work, charities, or social impact initiatives is desirable.

The Beacon Project is a community-focused programme providing confidential advice, connection, and learning opportunities for residents in the World’s End area. Through weekly coffee mornings, group sessions, and a befriending service that matches individuals with friendly Connectors for regular meet-ups, Beacon helps reduce isolation and build meaningful local relationships. We also offer free, practical support on issues such as benefits and housing, helping people understand their options and access the advice they need. The programme is delivered as a partnership between Family Friends and Nucleus Legal Advice Centre.

About the Role 

As our Community Engagement and Support Volunteer, you will be the first friendly face people meet. This role is perfect for someone approachable, confident, community-minded, and who enjoys connecting with others. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive environment where residents feel comfortable accessing support and getting involved in community activities. 

What You Will Be Doing

As a volunteer, you will welcome residents and help them feel comfortable accessing the project and its services. You will spend time speaking with local people to raise awareness of the Beacon Project, encourage participation, and build positive relationships within the community. The role will involve supporting community events, coffee mornings, and other outreach activities. Using active listening skills, you'll build trust with residents, take the time to understand their needs, and help connect them with the right support where appropriate. Volunteers will also be encouraged to share their ideas and creativity, helping us develop new ways to engage residents and make the project as welcoming and accessible as possible. You will assist with promoting the service through community events, coffee mornings, leaflets, and our social media channels.

Some interactions may involve people with complex needs or stress, so patience and empathy are two of the most important qualities that we are looking for. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate for and promote the project to the local community. We are looking for someone who can be a community ambassador for our project and a friendly face for residents. 

Our volunteers support residents from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. While most residents speak English, many community members speak other languages, including Arabic, Spanish and French. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, and additional language skills are an advantage, but are not essential.

Volunteer Social Media Assistant

The role of the Social Media Assistant will be to assist the Marketing & Social Media Trustee with ad-hoc tasks and campaign delivery. This remote volunteer role is a fantastic opportunity to hone your social media skills, while helping a growing charity to extend its reach and engagement even further.

You will be working with a team of social media assistants, as well as the events team. This role is varied and provides a great opportunity to be creative; from helping create graphics to promote our events, responding to messages from members of the public, to sinking your teeth into a campaign, the Social Media Assistant role offers a varied and exciting workload.

We welcome applications from minority backgrounds, particularly the queer Muslim community. The post holder would need to be based in the UK

What you’ll be doing:

• Creating graphics and copy for a variety of social media posts

• Helping develop campaigns alongside the Marketing & Social Media Trustee to implement across our social media channels

• Drafting statements in response to relevant global events, to ensure Hidayah is at the forefront,

• Responding to messages on social media channels in a professional and sympathetic manner

• Monitoring engagement on social media channels; responding to messages, engaging with followers and liking/sharing relevant posts from other organisations

Who are Hidayah?

Hidayah LGBT are a UK based charity who are dedicated to supporting and empowering queer Muslims. We operate on a remote and entirely volunteer-run basis, with volunteers based around the UK. We run events for queer Muslims across the UK, from walks and cafe meet ups, to Ramadan Iftars, Pride events, book clubs, and much more. We also provide a safe online community for queer Muslims to connect and find friendships. Our core values of care, connect, and growth, are the heart of everything we do. 

Despite being a small charity, we are growing year upon year. We are in the process of completing our own research, and have created bespoke trauma-informed training programmes for organisations. We want to be able to continue this vital work, and would love to have you be a part of growing our organisation even further.

How much commitment is required?

We are flexible around your own schedule. As much of the role is ad-hoc, you may find some weeks you devote more hours than others, but we estimate around 2 hours per week are required on average. We appreciate that everyone’s capacities differ; therefore, this is something that can be discussed at the interview stage. 

Knowledge and experience criteria

Essential:

• Have experience of using social media in a professional manner (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn)

• Strong content and copywriting skills; the ability to develop aesthetically pleasing graphics and appropriate, engaging copy 

• Good communication skills

• Creative and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn

• Can work well independently and as part of a team

• Organised with a good attention to detail; ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

• Supportive of the aims, vision and mission of Hidayah.

Desirable:

• Have experience of  video editing for social media use/using video editing software

• Previous experience with creating content for charities/non-profit organisations 

• Experience with using social media scheduling tools (Hootsuite) and Canva

• Willingness to attend in-person Hidayah events

• Awareness of issues affecting the queer and/or Muslim communities

Time Commitment

Trustees are expected to attend Board meetings every eight weeks. Meetings are currently held online, although there may be a need to meet in person in and meetings usually last approximately two hours. Trustees may also be asked to contribute to occasional discussions, emails or focused pieces of work between meetings.

Connection Support has a range of services providing support to people at risk of homelessness or on the edge of needing social care. We work with people made vulnerable through debt, mental health issues, substance misuse, learning disability, and physical disabilities.

Volunteers play a key role in the provision of vital services to our clients.

Could you prevent loneliness and isolation in your community and become a befriender?

• Do you have 2-3 hours a week to give to a client suffering from loneliness or mental health? (For a mutual agreement of time and locations that meet clients’ needs)
• Can you offer support, through a listening ear and be a positive influence in a client’s life to help build self-esteem and confidence?
• Will you enable our clients to benefit from knowing someone is there to listen, be a friend, and check in on their wellbeing?

Your role will include, but is not restricted to the following tasks:

• Collect prescriptions for clients and assist with their weekly shop

Peaceful Place is a specialist dementia charity supporting people to remain active, independent and connected to their community.  We focus on abilities, not limitations, helping every person attending our day centre to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.  We believe everyone living with dementia or Parkinson's has the right to live their best life.

We are looking for volunteers to assist our members living with dementia to take part in the various activities we provide at our day centre including:

• Arts & crafts - a new project is completed each week on Friday mornings.
• Music therapy & choir - lively sessions where our members are encouraged to sing along, play musical instruments and dance if they wish to.
• Yoga - a relaxing chair yoga session.
• Friendly discussion groups.
• Sports activities - these take place at local sporting and community venues.

You will need to have:

• Driving your own car or house vehicles

• Driving around the Marlborough area, which will be the start and end point of the majority of journeys 

• Assisting people we support in and out of vehicles and locations – with assistance from trained Dimensions staff. 

• Driving in a manner that is sensitive of physical and emotional requirements of the people we support. 

We are looking for drivers who: 

• Are aged 21 or over, with at least 2 years driving experience 

• Hold a full, clean and current UK Driving License (or equivalent) 

• Have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions in relation to  journeys 

• Are friendly with the people we support and our support staff 

• Are willing to commit to volunteer regularly (every other weekend, times to be agreed) 

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.

About the role

As a Volunteer Peer Group Facilitator you will: 

As a Volunteer Peer Group Facilitator, you will play a key role in delivering our peer support groups. These groups run all around the county throughout the week. You will work alongside our team of peer support workers and other peer support volunteers.

There is some flexibility with volunteering opportunities ranging from a minimum of 2-3 hours weekly to monthly commitments.

There may also be the opportunity to attend different community events to advertise the service.

There will be full training opportunities to ensure that you are successful in your volunteering role, as well as regular check-in meetings.

About the service  

The Empowering Minds Gloucestershire Service currently run group sessions for service users across Gloucestershire. 

Our team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality service that focuses on supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals. The aim is to improve the lives and support independence for those living with a mental illness. The team will engage with other local providers to ensure a clear and seamless pathway for those that require support from multiple providers. 

What will make you a great fit for this role?  

• Lived experience of mental illness, whether that is caring for someone else or yourself.

We are looking for friendly drivers to join us! 

You will meet some amazing people, whilst making a positive impact to their lives by driving to places they enjoy and appointments that are important. 

Activities will include: 

• Driving the people we support between their homes and services in a safe manner, in accordance with UK law. 

• Driving your own car or house vehicles

• Driving around the St Mellon’s area, which will be the start and end point of the majority of journeys 

• Assisting people we support in and out of vehicles and locations – with assistance from trained Dimensions staff. 

• Driving in a manner that is sensitive of physical and emotional requirements of the people we support. 

 
We are looking for drivers who: 

• Are aged 21 or over, with at least 2 years driving experience 

• Hold a full, clean and current UK Driving License (or equivalent) 

• Have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions in relation to  journeys 

• Are friendly with the people we support and our support staff 

• Are willing to commit to volunteer regularly (every other weekend, times to be agreed) 

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.
