Professional Volunteering

Professional volunteering is skills‑based service performed with the same reliability, accountability, and quality expected in a paid professional role. Volunteers are core contributors whose work directly supports our mission of global compassion, collaboration, and action.

Summary of Role

The Volunteer Director of Individual Giving at Solution Community plays a key role in strengthening Solution’s financial sustainability by developing, implementing, and managing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors. This role is responsible for growing our annual giving program and building lasting relationships with our supporters, directly impacting our ability to achieve our mission. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to contribute their expertise and passion to a cause they believe in.

Key Responsibilities:

Annual Giving Program Management:

• Develop and execute comprehensive annual giving campaigns (e.g., year-end appeals, spring campaigns, monthly giving programs) across various channels (direct mail, email, social media, online).

• Set realistic fundraising goals for individual giving and track progress toward them.

• Analyze campaign performance and recommend adjustments to maximize impact.

• Identify opportunities to expand the donor base and increase donor retention rates.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:

• Identify, research, and qualify prospective individual donors.

• Develop and implement personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies to engage donors at all levels.

• Oversee timely and meaningful donor acknowledgment and recognition.

• Act as a primary point of contact for a portfolio of key individual donors, building strong, lasting relationships.

Data Management and Reporting:

• Ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization's CRM system

• Generate reports on donor acquisition, retention, gift size, and overall individual giving performance.

• Utilize data to inform strategies and identify trends.

Strategy and Collaboration:

• Collaborate with the Development team and other leaders to align individual giving strategies with the organization's overall goals and fundraising priorities.

• Identify and recommend best practices in individual giving and annual fund development.

• Potentially recruit, onboard, and manage a small team of volunteer fundraising support staff, if applicable.

• Represent the organization professionally and enthusiastically to donors and prospects.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience (7+ years preferred) in individual donor fundraising, annual giving, or a related development role.

• Demonstrated success in developing and executing annual giving campaigns.

• Strong understanding of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship best practices.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling fundraising appeals and donor communications.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with major donors, understand their motivations, and align their giving with our organizational mission.

• Experience developing and implementing successful major gift strategies, including setting goals, tracking progress, and adjusting strategies based on outcomes.

• Ability to craft compelling narratives that communicate the impact of Solution Community’s work and inspire philanthropic support.

• Ability to lead and inspire a team and work cross-functionally with other departments to achieve fundraising goals.

• Familiarity with ClickUp, Slack, Google Workspace, and other digital tools for project management, communication, and scheduling.

Hertfordshire’s Family Centre Service brings children’s centres, health visiting and school nursing together, to provide a more joined-up service for children, young people, and their families.

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. To support early years sessions for families with children aged 0–5, including those with SEND and emerging needs, by promoting engagement and child development through group activities.

The Operations Manager of Department (Bid Writing) sits between Directors and Managers, turning high-level income-generation goals into a clear, deliverable bid-submission pipeline. You own the direction, research structure, and delivery control of the department to ensure that all grant applications, tenders, and funding proposals are submitted with high quality, accuracy, and pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Pipeline Planning: Turning Director funding objectives into a practical calendar of bid submissions, including research phases, drafting cycles, and submission deadlines.

• Manager Leadership: Coaching Bid Managers to coordinate research and evidence-gathering effectively, ensuring all proposal components are visible in MeisterTask.

• Assurance & Quality Control: Reducing rework by refining the "case for support" and ensuring all bids are proofed against funder requirements before reaching the final sign-off stage.

• Director Reporting: Providing weekly reports on the bid pipeline (submitted, pending, and upcoming), WIP status, and risks to funding timelines.

• Culture & Standards: Ensuring all proposals align with Quilombo UK’s tone, values, and professional communication standards.

We are busy team delivering the Supported Internships programme in Birmingham. The programme is based around employment and leisure for young adults with learning disabilities between age 16 and 25. We help people to develop skills for work in a employment setting and build their confidence.

We prepare them for work, and help them improve their Maths and English skills in a classroom setting, as well as:

Role Overview: Senior Recruiter (Volunteer)

The Senior Recruiter plays a vital leadership role in expanding Solution Community’s global volunteer team. This person will design and execute recruitment strategies, strengthen outreach pipelines, and ensure we attract passionate, skilled individuals aligned with our mission. As a senior leader in the volunteer recruitment team, you will guide recruitment operations, support interview processes, and help create a positive, welcoming experience for prospective volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment Strategy & Planning

• Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies aligned with organizational needs and growth goals.

• Identify talent gaps; collaborate with department leads to understand role requirements.

• Build scalable recruitment pipelines to support the onboarding of international volunteers.

Volunteer Sourcing & Outreach

• Source volunteers through job boards, social platforms, professional networks, NGOs, and community groups.

• Strengthen outreach efforts to diversify volunteer participation across countries and backgrounds.

• Engage potential volunteers and inspire interest in Solution Community’s mission and opportunities.

Interviewing & Selection

• Conduct initial screening calls and interviews to assess volunteer fit, skills, and motivation.

• Support hiring teams with interview invitations using Google iCal Link

• Ensure recruitment decisions reflect Solution Community’s values of compassion, integrity, and inclusivity.

Recruitment Operations & Processes

• Improve and maintain recruitment workflows, templates, and documentation.

• Track and report recruitment metrics to leadership (applications, conversion, placements, etc.).

• Collaborate with the onboarding team to ensure smooth transitions from selection to onboarding.

Volunteer Experience & Engagement

• Create a welcoming, supportive recruitment experience for all applicants.

• Provide timely communication and updates throughout the recruitment lifecycle.

• Gather feedback from candidates and teams to strengthen the volunteer experience.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor junior recruiters and assist in training new recruitment volunteers.

• Partner with People Operations, Onboarding, HR, and Program teams to ensure alignment.

• Serve as an ambassador for Solution Community’s mission, values, and culture globally.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, volunteer coordination, or related HR roles.

• Ability to manage high-volume recruitment pipelines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

• Strong communication, interviewing, and interpersonal skills.

• Passion for community building, social impact, and supporting global volunteers.

• Comfortable working in a remote environment across multiple time zones.

Preferred

• Experience in non-profit, volunteer-based, or international organizations.

• Familiarity with recruitment systems, applicant tracking tools, and digital collaboration platforms.

• Experience mentoring or guiding recruitment teams.

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

Time commitment

This role is flexible and designed to fit around your other commitments. You’ll be part of a friendly team raising vital funds — and having fun along the way.

Our shops help raise lots of money for us. It’s always lovely chatting to our customers about the fabulous items we sell and telling them about the fantastic work that we do. As a volunteer you will get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus be part of an amazing team of volunteers.

On the shop floor, as well as welcoming and serving our customers with a smile, you will be using the till (don't worry, we will show you how) and handling money. When people come in to donate items you will also be completing the Gift Aid forms that let their donations help us even more. You will also be answering the telephone. The role would suit anyone with basic computer skills, and a clear phone voice.
