We are currently on the hunt from some volunteers to help support our weekly Speak Out Central drop-ins.

Speak Out Central is a weekly drop-in for people with learning disabilities in the centre of Brighton, helping to prevent loneliness and social isolation. People get together over a cuppa at main office at the Brighthelm Centre between 1:30pm and 5:30pm every Tuesday. We aim to support people to be more involved in their local community and make connections with others at the drop-in and the wider community in the city.

The role involves:

• To help facilitate weekly drop-in meetings with other volunteers and staff
• Work with people with Learning disabilities to become more independent and try new things away from the drop-in
• Support people with learning disabilities to develop supportive relationships and friendships
• Support people with learning disabilities to feel more confident accessing mainstream services.
• Attend induction training and ongoing training as required.
• To work independently as needed and adhere to the Speak Out Codes of Practice for Volunteers and Advocates at all times
• Support people in the decisions they make but not make them for them.
• To challenge discrimination and help people to have their rights upheld.
• To identify at risk clients and follow Speak Out’s safeguarding process if needed

Role Summary
Obuyisi bw'Omu Initiative is seeking a skilled Remote Public Relations, Communications & Media Volunteer to strengthen our global visibility and support our communications strategy. Working entirely online, you will develop compelling content, support media relations, identify publicity opportunities, and help communicate the impact of our programmes to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement digital communication and public relations activities remotely.
• Draft press releases, media pitches, newsletters, and other communication materials.
• Create engaging content for social media, the website, and donor communications.
• Identify media and partnership opportunities that increase the organisation's visibility.
• Support online campaigns that promote our mission and programmes.
• Collaborate virtually with the team through email, video meetings, and online collaboration tools.

Requirements

• Experience or interest in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or digital media.

South West Advocacy Network (SWAN) is a dedicated charity specialising in independent advocacy within the community. Our mission is to empower individuals by helping them express their needs, secure their rights, and access essential services while promoting social inclusion and justice.

As a Volunteer, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to develop essential self-advocacy skills and confidence. Your contributions will help ensure that individuals can voice their needs and receive the assistance they require.

Volunteering in the shop

As a volunteer photographer, you'll be on hand to document the energy, emotion, and community spirit at events such as our Pen y Fan walk, 5K Series, World Kidney Day, and our Supporter's Thanks evening — helping us tell our story through images that inspire others to get involved.

What this might involve:

• Attending events and capturing candid and posed shots of participants, supporters, and staff
• Providing edited images in a timely manner for use across our website, social media, and fundraising materials
• Bringing your own camera equipment

What we're looking for:

• A confident photographer with your own equipment
• Ability to work in a range of settings — from outdoor charity walks to indoor celebration evenings

This role is working therapeutically alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support programmes in a group setting.  Ideally you will have experience in working with children.

You will also be expected to attend a debrief at the end of the weekend and also complete detailed documentation on the child/ young person you have been working with.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided during a weekend.  We will pay 45 pence per mile to cover your travel expenses. We will provide training (Safeguarding Children, Volunteer Induction Day and other specialist training days).

You will also have the opportunity to observe a weekend programme in action before you work with a child / young person. We will pay for your DBS check and provide you with a t-shirt with our logo on.

The Lyonic Scots Society is a Scottish heritage and cultural organisation. Our mission is to preserve and share our history, traditions, and creative spirit with the world. In 2026, we took our community global, and now we’re building a visual identity worthy of that legacy.

The Role

We’re looking for a creative volunteer Graphic Designer to help shape the visual face of the Lyonic Scots. You’ll design materials based on our identity and help us bring our heritage to life and help us connect with audiences worldwide.

What You’ll Do

• Design logos, emblems, and digital branding for our global community

• Create digital and print promotional materials — posters, banners, booklets, and social media graphics

• Develop merchandise designs (badges, apparel, and souvenirs)

• Support the creation of event visuals and campaign artwork

• Collaborate with our communications team to ensure brand consistency
