The Role

LEYF is seeking a Chair of Trustees to lead its Board and support the organisation in achieving its charitable objectives and strategic priorities. The Chair plays a central role in ensuring strong governance, enabling LEYF to deliver high quality, cost effective services to children, families and partners, and to maximise its social impact as it grows. Through strong leadership of the Board, you will help guide the organisation as it continues to expand its reach, strengthen its model and deliver meaningful, lasting impact for children and families across London.

This is an opportunity to make a significant difference to the life chances of disadvantaged children by contributing your skills, judgement and strategic insight within a mission driven organisation. You will work alongside a passionate and committed team, leading a Board of Trustees that is collaborative, professional and deeply engaged in LEYF’s purpose. As Chair, you will play a key role in shaping strategy, supporting sustainable growth and ensuring effective governance at an important and exciting stage in the organisation’s development.

The Person

We are seeking an experienced, values led individual who can provide strong leadership to the Board and support LEYF in delivering its social mission at scale.

Experience and Knowledge

• Senior leadership and Board level experience, with a strong understanding of governance
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of how a social enterprise operates
• Ability to navigate the balance between social purpose and financial sustainability
• Experience of complex or growing organisations, ideally across the UK
• Understanding of, or interest in, the early years sector and wider social impact landscape
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across a politically neutral environment

You can support Cats Protection from anywhere in Sussex: including Crawley, East Grinstead, Eastbourne, Hastings, Chichester, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Lewes, Littlehampton, Worthing, Bogor Regis and Bexhill-on-Sea.

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate counsellor to volunteer their time to facilitate weekly emotional support groups for people living with sight loss. These groups provide a safe and supportive space for members to share experiences, build resilience, and reduce isolation.

You will lead one or more specialist peer groups, which may include:
• Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Support Group
• Sight Loss After Stroke Group
• Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) Support Group
• Charles Bonnet Syndrome (CBS) Support Group

Each group brings together individuals facing similar challenges, offering mutual understanding and connection. Your skills as a counsellor will help guide conversations, support emotional wellbeing, and foster a caring, inclusive environment.

You will:
• Facilitate a weekly 2 hour emotional support group.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and non judgemental atmosphere.
• Encourage group discussion and peer support while managing boundaries.
• Offer emotional support and signposting where appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality in line with ethical guidelines.

• We are looking for someone who is: • A qualified counsellor (minimum Level 4 diploma or equivalent). • Warm, empathetic, and confident in group facilitation. • Passionate about supporting people affected by sight loss. • Comfortable working with individuals who may be newly diagnosed or adjusting to changes in their vision. • Able to commit to 2 hours per week on a regular basis. Experience working with visually impaired people is beneficial but not essential - training and guidance will be provided.

Role summary

As a Volunteer Community Connector, you will play an important role in the Compassionate Communities programme by helping to normalise conversations around death and dying, grief and loss. We believe that breaking down these taboos and getting people talking is key in helping communities support each other.

Your role will involve:

• Supporting and facilitating ‘compassionate conversations’ about death and dying, grief and loss in the community - promoting social connectedness. This may include signposting to relevant community support or care provision.

• Offering an informal, empathetic listening ear around topics such as life limiting illness, caregiving, dying and bereavement.

• Offering your support for informal sessions or larger events that may be held in community groups, charities, cafes or other organisations.

Main duties of this role:

• Attend and support public-facing events focused on compassionate conversations and awareness-raising (how to have difficult conversations).

• Offer a welcoming, supportive presence and engage people in meaningful conversations in a non-judgmental manner.

• Sensitively listen to people’s experiences, stories or questions related to serious illness, loss and caregiving - answering questions where able; or signposting or referring to your line manager where unable to respond.

• Help to promote Compassionate Communities principles and the work of St Helena in a positive, accessible way.

• Connect with St Helena staff and partners before and after events to give feedback and receive support.

• Assist with basic event logistics such as setting up spaces, offering refreshments, distributing materials, and collecting informal feedback.

• Work flexibly across community venues.

• Establish contacts within the community and build relationships

• Understand and adhere to confidentiality and data protection regulations at all times. 

Training and Supervision:

• Online mandatory training relevant to the role

• Compassionate Conversations training – online/in person

• Dedicated line manager for training and support with regular meetings 

Experience and Qualifications required:

• Experience in a role involving interaction with the public, especially in a supportive or listening capacity

• Understanding of the importance of compassion and empathy when discussing sensitive topics

• Ability to maintain personal and professional boundaries

• Comfortable speaking with people from a wide range of backgrounds 

About The Role

At WWT we shape unforgettable experiences. We are a warm, welcoming and genuine charity that protects and restores Wetlands. WWT Martin Mere has 600 acres of amazing wetland scenery which is home to such an assortment of wildlife. 

We are looking for volunteers who can support our team in our Café and shop to ensure we offer excellent customer service to our visitors.

By providing excellent customer care in our shop, you will be encouraging our visitors to support the wider conservation work of WWT. The money that is taken in retail is instrumental to the conservation work that WWT can afford to carry out.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

Could your leadership skills help shape the future of a Hopian?  Hopian is a registered charity that provides advice and support for adults and children who have experienced Domestic Violence and Abuse through the provision of refuge accommodation and community support services.  We also provide support and access to counselling for people affected by Child Sexual Exploitation.

The Role of Trustee and executive Trustee roles are voluntary positions. Trustee Responsibilities :

The Board as a whole is collectively responsible for the success of the charity. A Trustee is a Board Member and has a number of responsibilities in order to ensure robust management of the charity including:

• Make decisions objectively in the interests of the charity.
• Implement Hopian’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
• Lead on the aims and objectives of Hopian by raising awareness of domestic and sexual abuse, and child sexual exploitation and abuse and its impact on individuals and their families.

Trustee Duties :

• Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy.
• Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document (i.e. constitution or memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e., the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects) .
• Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets.
• Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation.
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place.
• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.
• Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds.
• To work in the interests of the charity and not for personal gain.
• To ensure that the Board Members takes proper professional advice on matters in which it does not have competence.
• Following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the chief executive.

In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

Tasks:

• To work with other Board Members to form an effective governing body for the charity.
• To attend meetings and to read papers in advance of meetings.
• Ensure that the charity’s focus places services users centrally.
• To understand and be committed to the mission of the charity.
• To maintain a long-term overview of the charity and its work.
• To make strategic and major decisions about the charity objectives, policies and procedures.

• To participate in other tasks that may arise from time to time such as interviewing for new staff, helping with appeals and fundraising.
• To keep informed about the activities of the charity and wider issues which affect its work.
• To monitor and evaluate the work of the charity on a regular basis. This includes receiving reports from staff, staff supervision, receiving feedback from service users and other agencies .
• To ensure that the charity is a good employer of its paid and voluntary staff .
• Provide opportunity for staff to meet with the board.

Person Specification

We are looking for a  Trustee who has an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship. It is expected that a Trustee takes ownership to develop and maintain this understanding and application of duties. In addition to having:

Time Requirements

To be able to attend scheduled committee meetings each year and read papers for each board meeting. To be available to for consultation, support and guidance on an ad hoc basis. Much of this contact will be via online, telephone or email.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, confident, and creative Volunteer Senior Social Media Manager to take ownership of Influential Stars’ social media presence across multiple platforms.

This is a hands-on role for someone capable of planning, creating, and scheduling purposeful content that raises awareness, builds community engagement, and supports campaigns across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow Influential Stars’ social media presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn

• Plan, create, and schedule consistent content aligned with the organisation’s mission and tone of voice

• Develop content that inspires awareness, connection, and positive action

• Share stories, campaigns, and updates in a sensitive and engaging way

• Maintain content calendars and scheduling systems

• Monitor engagement and respond appropriately where required

• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure accurate and timely messaging

• Maintain brand consistency across all channels

• Stay informed about platform trends and opportunities to increase reach

Skills and Experience Required

Essential:

• Proven experience managing social media across multiple platforms

• Strong understanding of engagement and awareness driven content

• Excellent written communication skills and attention to tone

• Confidence working independently and taking ownership of output

• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage content schedules

• Proactive, reliable, and professional approach

• Genuine connection to the organisation’s mission and values

Desirable:

• Experience managing accounts for charities, community organisations, or purpose led brands

• Familiarity with social media scheduling tools and analytics

• Experience working remotely within a team

• Based in London or Hertfordshire for occasional in person meetings (not essential)
