Harry’s HAT is a UK-based charity focusing on paediatric hydrocephalus.
Our mission is to make life better for children and their families who are affected by hydrocephalus. We work towards this through:
1. Awareness: delivering workshops and training to help people understand paediatric hydrocephalus.

We are now recruiting a Governance Trustee to strengthen our Board and help ensure our governance framework remains robust as the charity grows.
The Governance Trustee will play a key role in supporting good oversight, strong policy development and effective decision-making across the organisation.
Key responsibilities of the role:
• Supporting the Board in maintaining strong and effective governance.
• Helping review and develop the charity’s policy framework, including safeguarding, governance, finance and operational policies.
• Ensuring policies are reviewed regularly, compliant with current legislation and embedded in day-to-day practice.
• Working closely with fellow Trustees and the CEO to ensure decisions reflect our mission, vision and values.
• Contributing to the work of the Fundraising and Risk Group, ensuring governance considerations inform the group’s discussions.
Attending and actively participating in:
• Six Board meetings per year (usually held on the third Sunday of every other month from 18:00–19:30 via Teams).
• Quarterly Fundraising and Risk Group meetings (1.5 hours, evening).
• Two 1-2-1 meetings per year with the Chair of Trustees.
• The charity’s AGM and any additional meetings or events as needed • Providing occasional input on matters raised by the CEO, Trustees, staff and volunteers.

Age UK Hertfordshire (AUKH) is a large charity that every year reaches thousands of older people and their carers, and has a high level of recognition across the County’s statutory authorities, voluntary sector and the public. Our services – some developed and delivered in productive partnerships – include “active ageing” day clubs, help in the home, dementia support, befriending and in-touch telephone support, nutrition and dietetics service, hospital and community “navigation”, information and advice.
To build and grow from our current strong position, we need to expand our Trustee Board - to complement the skills of our present Trustees and broaden our Board’s diversity.

About the Trustee role
Trustees play a critical role in driving the impact and long-term success of the Foundation. They are accountable for ensuring the charity is well governed, financially sound and strategically focused on delivering real results. As guardians of our purpose, they ensure every decision accelerates social mobility for those starting their careers in our industry.
Trustees also act as ambassadors - using their networks, influence, and expertise to open doors, advocate publicly, and strengthen our impact.
Trustees will serve an initial three-year term, with the opportunity to serve up to two additional terms after that. The Board meets approximately four times per year, mostly virtually, with an average time commitment being around half a day per month.

Extensive experience at a senior level within marketing, communications, media or advertising, and it would be beneficial (although by no means essential) to have had exposure to or involvement within learning & development, or training sectors.

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford.
You and Me Counselling are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Job Description
As a trustee you will need to:
- Acknowledge emails at least once a day.
- Give a minimum of one hour per week to the role.
- Attend quarterly trustee meetings online.

1.1 The Walton Firs Foundation is a Surrey-based registered charity (Charity registration number: 1113830), and a company limited by guarantee without share capital (Companies House registration number: 05695208). The Foundation’s charitable mission is to support young people’s personal development and social inclusion, through enabling their engagement in outdoor education, vocational training, and volunteering programmes. Since its establishment in 2006, the Foundation has enabled over 250,000 young people from across the south-east of England to learn, develop and enjoy in nature, including many whose backgrounds and circumstances have previously restricted their access to the natural environment. The Foundation is a recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, in recognition of its developmental impact on the lives of young people. In 2024/25, the Foundation recorded a total income of £852,977, and a net trading surplus of £81,286.
1.2 The Foundation owns and manages Walton Firs Activity Centre, a fifty-acre facility that provides forty land-based outdoor education activities and residential capacity to accommodate up to 1,100 young people. The activity centre is commissioned by a wide range of children’s and youth service providers and by primary, secondary and SEND schools to deliver high quality curriculum enhancement programmes and outdoor learning activities. In addition, the activity centre directly-delivers a range of services for local young people, including holiday and afterschool activity projects, work experience programmes, and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. In 2024/25, Walton Firs Activity Centre delivered 479 service commissions and engaged 32,000 young people in outdoor learning activities and programmes.
1.3 Currently, the Foundation has six trustees / directors, who work with the company secretary under the leadership of the chairman of the board, to provide oversight and scrutiny of, and support and guidance to, the chief executive officer and the activity centre management team. 2. Role Purpose:
2.1 The Trustees / Directors of the Walton Firs Foundation serve simultaneously as a charity trustees and as company directors, and manage statutory duties under the Companies Act 2006. They are responsible for the strategic direction, operational governance, and financial status of the organisation, and work closely with the chief executive officer to ensure the Foundation delivers its charitable objects and activities for the public benefit, in compliance with the Charity Commission’s regulations and company law. The Work Rights Centre (WoRC) is a frontline charity dedicated to ending precarious work and social exclusion. Since 2016, we have supported thousands of migrants and disadvantaged Britons to recover unpaid wages, fight workplace discrimination, and secure their immigration status. We don’t just handle individual cases; we use our frontline evidence to advocate for systemic change through research and policy engagement. What time commitment is expected?
The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. The meetings are held online, typically lasting 90 min. Our annual Vision Day is held in person, with some sessions that Trustees can join remotely. Who we are looking for
We’re seeking two trustees who each bring distinct strengths. The first should have experience in safeguarding, ideally gained through work with volunteers, or in community settings. You could have a background in adult and children’s services, care, or service delivery organisations that utilise volunteers at scale.
You’ll provide board-level oversight of our safeguarding and ensure best practice in policies and legal considerations.
The second trustee should bring grant-making experience, preferably with an understanding of how fundraising and grants work together in a charitable context. Bournemouth Foodbank is looking for committed and skilled individuals to serve as trustees.
The Foodbank is at an exciting time as we have just secured funding to develop a whole new branch of initiatives. We are a Pathfinder Foodbank, piloting new programmes for the Trussell Trust Foodbank Network.
Food poverty is a complex issue that requires a range of joined-up approaches to solve. Frontline services are vital; however, people need more than food for the next three days; they need to feel that they are seen and heard, and they need to know that they have a legitimate place in society. That’s why we are developing these new more than food initiatives and working to prevent dependency and the need for foodbanks in the future.
In order to meet the challenges ahead we are particularly keen to recruit Trustees with legal experience, fundraising, strong administrative skills and, availability to attend the Foodbank on an ad hoc basis (at least fortnightly) during weekdays. Lived experience using Foodbanks or similar crisis services, as well as anyone with a background in Health and Well Being services, or Hospitality would all be extremely valuable additions to our board of trustees.

Hope Nottingham began as a small drop-in café, with a dozen volunteers in 2010. It has now grown to encompass 2 community hubs, a network of foodbanks, with eleven staff and 350+ volunteers. We hold the East & West Nottingham Trussell franchise and partner with many churches and organisations such as Citizens Advice.

Overview of role
The Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Trustees. In addition to their general trustee duties, they are responsible for overseeing the financial governance and health of the charity. 1. Financial Oversight and Governance

- Oversee the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors when required and ensuring the charity’s financial statements are audited in a timely and accurate manner. A shared mailbox is used for all audit communications to keep Finance Committee in loop of any queries. Any meeting with auditor, Treasurer to attend.
- Review the audited financial statements for accuracy and recommend their approval to the Board at the Annual General Meeting. Draw attention to important points in an easily understandable way and sign off when audit is completed by the external auditors
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including charity law, tax law, and Charity SORP financial reporting standards, including charity accounts being kept up to date on Charities Commission website. Review and keep up to date with Charity SORP requirements
5. Risk Management
- Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.Review Financial risks on risk register quarterly and as part of finance sub committee
- Ensure that the charity has appropriate insurance and other safeguards in place to protect its assets. Review insurance requirements with the CEO a month before renewal date to ensure we have adequate cover in place and to obtain alternative quotes if appropriate
- Advise the Board on the management of financial risks and any significant financial challenges facing the charity.

6. Fundraising and Income Generation
- Input into and provide financial oversight of fundraising activities and income generation strategies, ensuring they align with the charity’s financial goals. Input into and review fundraising strategy and review effectiveness on quarterly basis
- Advise on the viability of fundraising campaigns and the allocation of resources to maximise financial returns.
- Assist in ensuring that fundraising activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
7. Financial Strategy and Sustainability
- Contribute to the long-term financial strategy of the charity, helping to ensure its financial sustainability.
- Ensure the charity has an appropriate reserves policy Review reserves policy and reserves calculation annually
- Advise on diversification of income streams and opportunities to strengthen the charity’s financial position. Review income streams quarterly to highlight opportunities or risks e.g. individual / corporate / grants

8. Chair the Finance Sub-Committee
- Act as the Chair of the Finance Sub-Committee, leading agenda, discussions and decision-making on financial matters. A pre-meeting with the CEO and treasurer is required so fully informed in advance of committee meeting.
- Ensure that the Finance Sub-Committee operates effectively, reporting regularly to the full Board.
