What began as a grassroots response has grown into a London‑wide baby bank network, supporting thousands of families every year. But with more than one in three children in London living in poverty, our work — and our ambition — has never mattered more. 
 
Over the next chapter, we plan to expand our reach across London and scale our advocacy, including our national leadership as a co-founder of the Baby Bank Alliance, to drive lasting systems change for families experiencing poverty. 
 
As our current Chair’s term comes to an end in early 2027, we’re seeking someone with strong governance experience, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to social impact — someone ready to help lead an organisation with growing influence, reach and responsibility. 

We’d love to hear from you if you:  

• Have experience chairing boards, committees or senior leadership meetings.  

• Have strong understanding of governance (best practice)  

• Have experience of charity fundraising and income generation  

• Can commit the time and expertise to play a key role on our Board.

Are You Organised, Community Minded & Can Spare A Few Hours A Month?

Become a volunteer activity group coordinator

As an activity group coordinator, you’ll plan, organise and schedule monthly activity groups in your local area. This is a volunteer administrative role that requires communicating and socialising with older people and volunteers from all walks of life.

The activity group will be at the same community venue and will include older people, activity group leads, drivers, and the activity group coordinator. Activity groups normally last around two hours and will include an activity that gets people moving such as: dance, chair exercises, boules, skittles or boccia.

Activity groups are free monthly groups that are open to older people who are lonely, isolated and in need of companionship. Activity groups are a great way for older people to stay active and to make new friends in their local area.

To become an activity group coordinator, you’ll need to:

• Have a 30-minute induction call with a member of the Re-engage team
• Complete an ID check
• Provide a reference
• Complete online volunteer training modules

Tasks include:

• Welcoming and supporting new volunteers into the activity group so they can start volunteering with confidence.
• Welcoming new older people to the activity group and contacting them before their first activity group so that they feel welcome and comfortable.
• Arranging the annual activity group schedule so activity group leads know when it’s their turn to lead the activity, and activity group drivers know which older people they’re collecting and dropping home again after the activity group.
• Matching older people to volunteer drivers, so the same drivers collect and drop off the same older people each month.
• Responding to any issues and queries from the volunteers and older people in the activity group.
• Following the guidance in the online volunteer training so that the activity groups are safe, enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
• Keeping in regular contact with Re-engage and reporting any concerns to the team.
• Promoting the activity group in your local area so we can recruit more volunteers and support more older people.
• Keeping in regular contact with the activity group volunteers and older people and sharing any updates from Re-engage that are relevant to them.
• Completing a short online report about the activity group four times a year.
• Keeping your knowledge and training up to date by reading our monthly volunteer newsletter – Re-engage Matters.

These gatherings are a lifeline of friendship for older people who may be feeling lonely or isolated. Your time and kindness can make a real difference.

We have an opportunity for a volunteer based in our Salisbury office to support our busy supporter care/membership team. You will help the team to ensure our members and supporters receive the highest standards of care and an excellent experience.

What you will be doing

This dynamic opportunity could involve anything from answering supporter queries and letter stuffing, to updating supporter records, filing and researching.

Location – This role is based at Plantlife Head Office in Salisbury, Wiltshire, so we are looking for a volunteer who is based in or around Salisbury. Ideally, we would prefer someone who lives in close proximity to our office.

Time commitment – We are looking for someone who can volunteer one day per week with us in our Salisbury office, aiming to give 5 hours or more (Wednesday or Thursday).

Front Desk Volunteers will volunteer within the BCWA SPOC Team, who provide key support to all BCWA services. Volunteers will be a welcoming and friendly face for walk-in clients or clients coming to their appointments, providing relevant information and directing them to the right place. But most importantly, Front Desk Volunteers provide the initial first point of contact for BCWA clients. They help create the comfortable, safe space that is integral to the support we provide, whether that’s through a friendly chat, a cup of coffee or tea, or just being kind. The SPOC team is a busy, sometimes high-pressure environment – our volunteers are integral at our busiest times of the year to ensure our clients and services get the support they need.

Volunteering with our SPOC team on the Front Desk might look like:

• Being that friendly and welcoming first point of contact for clients accessing BCWA services.
• Understanding the reason for a client’s visit and ensuring they are directed to the right place.
• Navigating any relevant information on BCWA systems.
• Offering clients a friendly chat or refreshments and curating a comfortable and safe environment.
• Helping staff and service teams using the space and giving them any information they need.
• Being an advocate for BCWA!

As a BCWA Front Desk Volunteer, you’ll get:

• All the training you need to understand and be prepared for your role with us, so you can use your time with us to grow and learn!
• Regular check-ins and contact with our Volunteer Coordinator as an opportunity to catch up, reflect and feedback on your volunteering experience with us.
• Access to the Wisdom App and the BCWA wellbeing provision.
• Access high quality support and advice from BCWA whenever you need it.
• Your travel to and from sessions expensed.  Lunch paid for if you volunteer for 6 hours or more.

DBS

All volunteer roles are subject to DBS checks at the relevant level.

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

This is a Stop and stay, let’s get busy visitor role which means the person you will be visiting can communicate actively with you and take part in choosing or planning activities. The beneficary enjoys playing video games, watching westerns, remote control cars and having a cuppa a chat.  They are not as agile as they once were but can go for a short walk to the cafe around the corner.   Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around an hour or longer, depending on what you do.

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?

Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.

This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.

Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager.

Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:

• Serving customers on the till
• Taking stock donations from the public
• Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
• Dressing the window displays
• Asking people to join us as a volunteer

As a Retail Volunteer you will be:

As a Senior Planning Volunteer for CPRE  this offers an opportunity to use your investigative skills on planning applications which affect Londoners' access to green spaces and help us to influence positive, environmentally friendly outcomes. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to national consultations and policy development.

This role would suit anyone with an interest in and knowledge of the planning system and environmental issues. CPRE London is dedicated to greening the city, sharing countryside's beauty, tranquillity, and accessibility. Volunteer with us to aid London in becoming carbon-neutral by 2030, boosting biodiversity, and enhancing life for wildlife and residents.

What will you be doing: 

• Investigating planning applications with an impact on London’s green spaces
• Preparing and submitting responses to influence the outcome of planning applications and appeals
• Visiting the local planning offices and proposed development sites to look at plans and record details
• Liaising with parish and district councils and other conservation bodies
• Seeking to influence local and neighbourhood plans
• Building relationships with local organisations to influence their management plans
• Liaising with the planning team and policy committee at National CPRE to contribute to consultations and policy development
• Proactively investigating the planning designation of green spaces in your local area to find out whether there is scope to strengthen these in order to better protect these sites for future generations.

What are we looking for: Skills / Experience

• An eye for detail and an interest in investigative work
• Knowledge of planning and environmental issues is essential 
• Some previous experience in the planning sector would be beneficial in this role

About YAUK

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organisation that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects
that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

You can expect us to

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

We’re seeking friendly, reliable individuals aged 18 or over who want to make a difference in their community. No prior experience is needed, as we provide full training. If you’re open to learning, enjoy working with others, and have a passion for helping people, you’ll fit right in!

By volunteering with us in one of our amazing retail spaces you will be raising essential funds for Oxfam – all whilst learning new skills and meeting some incredible people.

What you will be doing

• Undertaking shop related tasks agreed with the Manager, for example:
• Chatting to customers, giving great service on the till.
• Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock.
• Visual merchandising: creating eye-catching window and in-store displays.
• Accepting donations from members of the public, speaking to the donors and asking them a few questions..
• Following clear instructions to label donations in order to maximise income.
• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

• Happy to be part of a team and collaborate effectively with others
• Happy to speak with other people, and follow instructions to complete a task
