You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. We will match you with a child you share common interests with. 

You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

Do you live in Merseyside? Do you want to be the difference between a life saved and a life lost? We're now recruiting for Community First Aiders across Merseyside (including Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton Knowsley & St Helens). We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. The successful candidate would be expected to attend their Network's meeting on a regular basis, as well as attend all training required for the role (typically a weekend plus additional e-learning). In addition, due to the nature of the role, Community First Aiders must commit to a minimum of 80 hours per year delivering first aid at events and community engagement.

You will meet some amazing people, whilst making a positive impact to their lives by driving to places they enjoy and appointments that are important. 
 

Activities will include: 

• Driving the people we support between their homes and services in a safe manner, in accordance with UK law. 

• Driving your own car or house vehicles

• Driving around the Calne area, which will be the start and end point of the majority of journeys 

• Assisting people we support in and out of vehicles and locations – with assistance from trained Dimensions staff. 

• Driving in a manner that is sensitive of physical and emotional requirements of the people we support. 
   

We are looking for drivers who: 

• Are aged 21 or over, with at least 2 years driving experience 

• Hold a full, clean and current UK Driving License (or equivalent) 

• Have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions in relation to  journeys 

• Are friendly with the people we support and our support staff 

• Are willing to commit to volunteer regularly (every other weekend, times to be agreed) 

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?

Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.

This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.

Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager.

Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:

• Serving customers on the till
• Taking stock donations from the public
• Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
• Dressing the window displays
• Asking people to join us as a volunteer

As a Bank Volunteer Event Assistant, you will support One YMCA at a variety of fundraising, community and engagement events throughout the year. This flexible role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, working as part of a team and helping to create welcoming, well-organised events that promote One YMCA's mission. Together Media is Learn Together CIC’s volunteer-led digital publication. We produce public-interest content covering news, social issues, community stories, politics and culture through videos, interviews, podcasts and short explainers.

We are looking for confident and enthusiastic volunteers to present content on camera and contribute to podcasts and interviews.

Key responsibilities

• Present scripted stories and explainers on camera
• Host or co-host podcasts and recorded discussions
• Interview guests and community contributors
• Research and fact-check topics using reliable sources

About you

We would like to hear from applicants who:

Location and commitment

The role can be completed remotely or in person in Manchester. Opportunities are available during the week and at weekends, with a minimum commitment of two hours per week.
