The Pirate Castle is looking for a voluntary Treasurer Trustee to join our friendly and committed Trustee Board.  We are an iconic Camden-based community boating charity, established in 1966; we are proud to say that 2026 is our 60th anniversary.

Our well-known castle building sits on the banks of the Regent's Canal in the heart of Camden Town.  We rent out our community space and offer a range of watersports for children and adults of all ages and abilities.  Kayaking and canal boating are core to our work and we tackle disadvantage and support our community by offering subsidised sport and recreation, including through the school holidays.  If you ever walk along the canal tow path in Camden you can't help but notice us on the water!

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis or accounting, ideally with a professional accountancy qualification.The role involves working with our contracted Bookkeeper and Development Manager to monitor and oversee the charity's finances month-to-month and to report to trustees at Board meetings.  It also involves overseeing the preparation of the annual accounts, together with our external accounts inspector (our annual income level is below the audit threshold). 

The charity is in a sound financial position.  As the Treasurer you will also be involved in and have an important voice in the charity's strategic management and governance.  We are a friendly Trustee Board and staff team, looking for a Treasurer with solid financial analysis and an ability to communicate with others from all walks of life.  You can expect about 4-5 hours' work per month on average.  The Board meets 10 times each year, usually on a Monday evening.  Most of our meetings are held remotely though two meetings each year are held in person in our Camden Castle building. 

Please note this is a voluntary (unpaid) position.  As a Trustee you would be a director of our company limited by guarantee.  We maintain directors and officers insurance for our Board members.

We're looking for a Volunteer Administrative Support Assistant to join our team for ideally a 6-month placement. This is a great opportunity to develop your administrative and organisational skills while supporting a charity working to reduce food waste, tackle food poverty and support our local community. You don't need extensive administrative experience. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, willing to learn and keen to contribute to a meaningful organisation. As Volunteer Administrative Support Intern, you'll provide essential support across the charity's day-to-day operations. 

The role is remote with the opportunity to come into our Brixton office. You will work closely with charity staff to collaborate with other organisations and prepare for upcoming projects in 2027. We are looking for someone to work 9 to 5 hours for 2-3 days a week.

Who we are:

Founded in 2018, Compliments of The House (CoTH) began by collecting surplus cooked food from Brixton Village and surrounding areas, and redistributing it free to people in need. From our local hubs we served our guests, and also ran our ‘Back to Work’ and ‘Care Leaver’ schemes. 

During the COVID-19 lockdown, we could not host our guests in our hub. So we launched a temporary grocery delivery scheme supported by local council school buses, which gained recognition from the Prime Minister due to its impact. 

Since then, we have found a new venture to channel our commitments to reducing the environmental impact within hospitality whilst nourishing people through food. We are so lucky to have many vibrant and diverse festivals locally and across the UK, which produce a whopping 400 tonnes in food waste every year! We’re taking on the challenge to reduce that waste and use it to nourish those in need. 

We’re looking for someone:

• Comfortable with emails and Google Drive or Microsoft programmes

• Who has an understanding of GDPR, able to maintain confidentiality in line with data protection

• Happy to pitch in on varied tasks and projects

• With excellent written communication skills, basic numeracy and computer skills

• Organised and reliable, someone who can manage their own work and time

• Passionate about sustainability, reducing food waste or supporting communities

Responsibilities:

• General administrative duties, e.g. data entry, managing emails and Google Drive documents/ records, updating spreadsheets and organisational records 

• Handling sensitive information such as personal data and charity finances (receipts, funding etc.)

• Supporting organising for our campaigns, sourcing equipment, recruiting volunteers

• Adapting, editing, drafting, updating and designing materials/literature

• Research background material for projects 

• Take part in meetings with external organisations involved in our projects and taking meeting minutes

130 Primrose is a charity restaurant in Primrose Hill using hospitality as a vehicle for change- recruiting, training and employing people with lived experience of homelessness.

In just 12 months, we’ve already supported individuals into paid work, qualifications, and long-term employment pathways. Now, we’re entering an exciting growth phase, with ambitions to scale our model to new sites and reach significantly more people. 

We’re seeking a Strategic Finance Trustee to join our board and help guide this next stage- bringing commercial insight, financial clarity, and strategic challenge as we grow.

About the Role

This is a strategic, non-operational trustee position for a senior finance leader who can translate financial insight into clear, practical decision-making.

You’ll work closely with the Chair, CEO, and Board to ensure our model is financially sustainable, scalable, and impactful- supporting both our social mission and our trading activity.

Our model combines earned income (restaurant operations) with social impact, making financial leadership a critical lever for success.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Board on financial strategy, planning, and risk oversight
• Challenge and refine forecasting and cashflow planning (12–36 months)
• Strengthen financial visibility (P&L, balance sheet, cash) for operational teams
• Advise on unit economics, including menu margins, labour model, and cost control
• Improve budgeting, KPIs, and scenario modelling to support growth (e.g. new sites)
• Contribute to funding strategy, including grants, partnerships, and social investment
• Help establish and potentially chair a Finance & Risk Committee
• Ensure strong governance, compliance, and financial controls
• Act as a critical friend- supporting and constructively challenging leadership

About You

We’re looking for a senior finance leader (e.g. CFO, Finance Director, or equivalent) who brings:

• Significant experience leading financial strategy within complex organisations
• Strong understanding of forecasting, cashflow, and scenario planning
• Ability to translate financial complexity into clear, actionable insight
• A commercial mindset with empathy for social impact
• Experience of governance and working at board or executive level

Desirable:

• Experience in hospitality, multi-site operations, or customer-led businesses
• Exposure to social enterprise, scaling organisations, or blended income models

Families supported by Young Lives vs Cancer are going through some of the most challenging times of their lives. At Young Lives vs Cancer, we get that. We are a charity that helps children and young people (aged 0-24), and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.  

As an Events Coordinator in the South West Social Work team, you will plan and coordinate a range of events throughout the year; working directly with the families we support and partner organisations. we hope to run events across the region including end‑of‑treatment celebration days, sibling days, festive events and bereavement support events 

What you give as a volunteer goes far beyond practical support; it’s reassurance, kindness, and hope at a time when it’s needed most. Your time and commitment can help make the cancer journey a little lighter and leave a lasting, positive impact on the families you support. 

What you’ll be doing 

We hope to carry out regular events across the whole region. Your help will be invaluable in achieving this. Your tasks will include: 

• Helping to organise, co-ordinate and run events. 

• Communication with invitees and organisations involved in the planning and facilitation of events. 

• Attendance of events as a welcoming presence; helping people feel comfortable, supported, and gently connected to one another. 

• Working alongside social workers as a valued member of the team and reporting back to your volunteer manager. 

Spend 3 - 4 hours a week in a hospital and feel over the moon!

This is what happens when you join the Friends of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital as a volunteer.

Chelsea & Westminster Hospital on Fulham Road is known as one of the best hospitals in London and across the UK as a whole. One reason for this is its focus on patient and staff wellbeing. If you have been a patient at Chelsea & Westminster, you will surely have noticed the staff’s professional work ethic and determination to deliver the best care.

One way to “give back” to the incredible staff is to join our charity the Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital as a volunteer.

The medical staff are often so busy that if they have not brought lunch with them, they have very little time to leave the ward to buy food. Since November 2022 The Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has successfully operated a Lunch Trolley service for hospital staff, in partnership with B Bagel Fulham Road. The service operates five days a week (Monday-Friday) from 10:00 to 14:00 and allows busy staff to purchase bagels, salads, cakes and drinks without leaving their departments.

In our first year of operation, thanks to our hard-working volunteers we raised around £9,000 to support the work of The Friends charity in the hospital.

We are now looking for four additional volunteers, one who can commit to a set weekly shift of around 4 hours (day to be discussed) and one who can fill in occasionally when one of our permanent volunteers is away. You will be joining a small, friendly team providing a really valuable and popular service to our hard-working hospital staff.

Role description

● Collect the day’s order of bagels and salads from B Bagel (opposite the hospital) by 10:30

● Collect the trolley from the Friends storeroom (lower ground floor) and stock it with the bagels/salads/cakes plus additional items from the stock list

● Volunteers have a dedicated route to follow each day, so Monday’s first stop is not always the first served on the other days

● When entering a ward/department, make yourself known to the nurse's desk and place the trolley in a safe position that does not obstruct the movement of staff or patients

● Take payment via contactless card machine terminals

● At the end of the run, return trolley to The Friends store room (lower ground floor)

●        Carry out stock check

● Remove and dispose of all perishable items from the trolley

● Return carrier box to B Bagel with the order for the next day

Essential

● Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to at least one 4-hour slot (around 10.00 to 14.00) once a week 

● Trustworthy

● Polite, friendly and enjoys meeting new people

●        Must haave a good standard of spoken and written level of English 

Desirable

● Previous experience in food retail or a similar voluntary role

● Previous experience in operating a contactless card machine

Full training will be provided. Volunteers report to The Friends Charity Manager, but are also required to comply with all requirements of the hospital’s own volunteering department, including undergoing a DBS check, Occupational Health check and core training. We will take up references on all successful applicants.

Please note that this is quite a physically demanding role and will not suit those with mobility issues or who have difficulty moving and handling heavy items.

Role description and purpose:  The role involves offering moral and some practical support to a client of WTRRP.  Any complex needs are addressed by WTRRP Case Workers and professional organisations, not befrienders. Befrienders will give client extra support to combat isolation, extra language support and help them to integrate into UK society and the Watford community. 

How a befriender will be allocated: The Befriending Coordinators and the Volunteers’ Coordinator will allocate a befriender to a client with his/her explicit agreement.  An initial meeting between the client, the befriender and one of the coordinators will be organised to set up parameters and ensure that both parties are happy to continue.  Client support can be terminated at any time by mutual agreement and in consultation with one of the Befriending Coordinators.

Key responsibilities:

· Provide moral support to allocated client.

· Make regular phone calls and visits (in a neutral place such as cafes, libraries, St Mary’s as agreed with the client) – once a week or every other week.

· Listen, encourage and empower clients. (It is important not to create mutual dependency)

· Maintain a friendly but neutral approach.

· Help client integrate into UK society by sharing local knowledge, for example facilitating access to Children Centres, libraries etc.

· Accompany client to social events organised by WTRRP.

· Help client be aware of WTRRP services

· Offer practical help such as lifts to medical appointments (if comfortable with this), finding clothes, furniture, moving (if agreed and organised by WTRR) etc.

· Report to a Befriending Coordinator after each meeting with the client. 

· Identify more complex needs/issues and relay these to the Befriending Coordinators.

· Report any safeguarding concerns immediately as per WTRRP policy. Liaise with the Safeguarding Lead and/or members of the Committee.

· Represent WTRRP and work constructively as part of a WTRRP team.

Other Requirements of the Role:

· Willingness to commit to a 6 months period (an extension may be granted but we would like to see clients become self-reliant)

· Reasonable availability, particularly during weekdays.

· Attend regular Befrienders’ training and volunteers’ training essential.

Skills and personal qualities:

· Strong communicator and interpersonal skills (including ability to convey information in simple English).

· Patience

· Reliability and flexibility

· Awareness of non-verbal communication such as body language.

· Awareness of cultural differences/unconscious bias and their effects on the clients we support.  Training will be given on these.

· Awareness of boundaries.

· Ability to work as part of a team.

· Empathy for the plight of refugees and asylum seekers.

We are looking for a committed and experienced individual to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer. As a registered charitable company, our community centre supports local people through a range of services and activities to improve life outcomes for all.

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor the financial position of the charity and advise the Board on financial matters. 

· Chair our Finance Committee which meets quarterly

· Ensure proper records are kept and that accounts meet legal and regulatory requirements.

· Support the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and annual accounts.

· Support the work of the outsourced accounting agency and, when necessary, liaise with staff responsible for day-to-day financial administration.

· Contribute to the overall strategic direction and good governance of the Centre as an active Trustee.
