We are looking for our next Chair of Trustees – someone who will work closely with our Executive Team and Board to guide the organisation through what is both a challenging and genuinely exciting time. The funding environment is tough. The political context is difficult. And yet the need for what we do has never been greater.

This is an unpaid voluntary role. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our Volunteer Expenses Policy.

The successful candidate will lead a vibrant, well-established, national charity as it navigates the next chapter of its story.

Main tasks

• Developing and setting our future strategy, alongside the Executive Team and other Trustees
• Helping shape and deliver our future, identifying opportunities in an evolving landscape
• Leading the Board of Trustees, including regular 1:1s and providing space for reflection
• Acting as a 'critical friend' to our Executive Team, as well as formal line management to the CEO (and COO in their absence)
• Acting as an ambassador for the charity – raising awareness of what we do and engaging potential supporters and other key stakeholders
• Responsibility, along with the other trustees, for the governance of the charity
• Contributing to the ongoing strategy of the charity, in line with our charitable objectives
• Participating in board meetings and sub-committees in an inclusive and thoughtful way

Help4Homeless is looking for an Event Organisation Manager to lead creative fundraising events that directly support people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough. This is a flexible, remote volunteer role where your ideas can turn into real-world impact.

We’re currently running “31 Days, 31 Packs” (May 2026), aiming to fund one wellbeing pack per day. Your role will help shape and deliver campaigns like this.

Deaf Unity is a deaf-led charity that works to empower deaf individuals. We equip deaf students, jobseekers and professionals with the knowledge, confidence and community to succeed in education and employment.

Working closely with our deaf community, we identify the barriers and inequities that deaf people meet as they move from school into education and employment; seek work; and strive to build successful careers. We work with them and with universities, employers and voluntary sector partners to overcome these barriers through carefully tailored, impactful interventions.

Our vision is of a world where every deaf person has an equal chance to study and work, achieve their professional ambitions and contribute their full potential to society.

Purpose of the role

To oversee Deaf Unity’s financial operations, ensuring that the charity remains financially viable and complies with Charity Commission regulations and strong accounting practices at all times, The Treasurer will ensure that proper financial records are kept and that the Board of Trustees understands the financial position at all times. 

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the charity’s financial position
• Present budgets, management accounts and financial statements to the Board
• Help trustees understand financial information and advise on financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans
• Support budgeting and financial planning, including developing and implementing financial policies (e.g. reserves and investment policies),
• Ensure proper financial controls are in place and that proper accounting records are kept
• Oversee the preparation of annual accounts
• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission and HMRC regulations (e.g. Gift Aid)

You will work closely with the CEO, Chair, trustees and staff who are managing day-to-day finance and banking and will be required to attend quarterly meetings of the Finance and Risk sub-group of the Board, in addition to the full Board meeting

What is a trustee?

All trustees share responsibility for running the charity.

This includes:

• Attending board meetings, usually 4 times per year.
• Helping make strategic decisions
• Acting in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries

Trustee responsibilities are set out by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Skills we are looking for

Essential skills:

• Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (e.g. use of XERO, SAGE accounting packages)
• Experience of financial reporting, budgeting and risk management
• An understanding of (or willingness to learn about) charity accounting
• Ability to explain financial information clearly
• Good judgement and decision-making skills
• Interest in supporting deaf communities

Desirable:

• Professional accounting qualification
• Previous experience as a trustee or treasurer
• knowledge of, or interest in, the deaf community.
• BSL skills

Who we are

Trans+ Learning Lab is a UK CIC delivering life‑changing education and training to gender‑diverse folks in challenging contexts.

The Trans+ Learning Lab CIC is made up of myself (the founder) Helmut (they/them, he/him) and the Uganda Lead, Mama Mityana (she/her). The Uganda Lead receives a part-time wage to deliver stakeholder advocacy and training services in her country; I do not pay myself, and I finance everything from project delivery to procurement from my own savings. 

We are seeking volunteer fundraisers to help us promote, update, and widely share our active and future GoFundMe campaigns and to help us form a funding pipeline in a more raitonal, proactive manner.

In our current project and campaign, we are trying to raise essential funds toward our Uganda training and upskilling incubator project in partnership with Tranz Network Uganda. This particular GoFundme campaign supports the delivery and sustainability of our entrepreneurship incubator.

With future fundraising and comms, you will be involved in shaping our strategy to generate income to implement our other educational mission: to deliver low- or no-cost coding bootcamps to vulnerable LGBTQ+ communities in Africa and South Asia, and to deliver refugee-specific empowerment programmes.

You will be actively helping vulnerable people access safer, more sustainable livelihoods through upskilling in Uganda, Kenya, Pakistan and beyond. 

What you’ll be doing

• Promoting the GoFundMe campaign across your personal and professional networks in the first instance
• Help us design the strategy for, and support, future crowdfunding campaigns and comms
• Sharing campaign updates and calls to action on social media, newsletter and relevant community spaces
• Helping amplify key messages, milestones and calls to action
• Suggesting creative outreach ideas to increase reach and engagement

Who we’re looking for

• Someone confident sharing and generating impactful, engaging fundraising content and asking people to donate
• Someone active on social media and well connected to communities, networks and organisations
• Someone with direct experience of corporate responsibility schemes and engagement (desirable)
• A versatile, excellent written communicator
• A person who is reliable, values‑driven, and above all, respectful and supportive of trans‑led work

Ideally you will have accrued 2-3 years' professional fundraising and campaigning experience in the non-profit sector, but if you have an equivalent voluntary and pro bono expertise in minority causes advocacy and supporter-network building your application is warmly welcomed too.

The Wardrobe Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the chapter's costumes, wigs and props, ensuring they are available, clean and in good condition for events. • Maintain an inventory of all costumes, wigs and props.
• Keep accurate records of who has borrowed costumes and when they are returned.

We are seeking to recruit a Trustee with expertise in major donor fundraising to join our Board.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a global charity working to improve diagnosis, treatment, support and research for people affected by encephalitis.

The Role

As a Trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance, strategic direction and sustainability of Encephalitis International.

We are particularly seeking someone who can bring experience and insight in major donor recruitment, retention and stewardship to support the charity’s development and fundraising ambitions.

You will:

• Provide strategic guidance on major donor and philanthropic fundraising
• Help strengthen our approach to donor engagement, stewardship and long-term relationships

Previous trustee experience is not essential.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid role, based in the UK. We are unfortunately not able to provide support with visa requests.

Volunteering in the shop
Our Holywood, Belfast Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

What happens next?
After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).
