Job description

Sote Hub

We build investor-ready coastal enterprises addressing ocean conservation and food security in Kenya and Tanzania.

About Sote Hub

Sote Hub is a social enterprise advancing inclusive, regenerative and climate-resilient growth through Blue Economy, Green Economy and digital innovation. We support enterprises across Kenya and Tanzania through incubation, acceleration, technical assistance and investment facilitation.
Our programmes support entrepreneurs, MSMEs and communities across multiple sectors, generating economic, social and environmental impact. As we expand our operations and partnerships across Africa, we are strengthening our institutional systems for monitoring performance, measuring impact and generating evidence to inform strategic decisions.

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Data Analytics Specialist to strengthen Sote Hub's institutional monitoring, evaluation and learning systems.
The ChangeMaker will work remotely with our programmes and management teams to improve data management, develop practical monitoring tools, analyse programme performance and translate results into actionable insights. The assignment will also support the development of standardised systems for tracking organisational and programme-level outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review existing monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks, tools and reporting processes, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  2. Support the development and refinement of indicators, results frameworks and performance measurement tools aligned with programme objectives and organisational strategy.
  3. Design and improve data collection, monitoring and reporting templates to strengthen consistency and data quality across programmes.
  4. Develop interactive dashboards and data visualisation tools to track programme performance, enterprise outcomes and organisational impact.
  5. Analyse programme data to identify trends, measure results and generate insights for management decision-making and donor reporting.
  6. Support the documentation of success stories, lessons learned, case studies and evidence of social, economic and environmental impact.
  7. Recommend practical approaches for strengthening institutional knowledge management and data-driven decision-making.

Expected Deliverables

  • An assessment of existing MEL systems, tools and reporting processes, with recommendations for improvement.
  • An improved institutional MEL framework, including indicators and performance tracking tools.
  • Standardised programme monitoring and reporting templates.
  • At least one interactive performance dashboard demonstrating key programme indicators.
  • A data analysis and impact reporting framework to support management and donor reporting.
  • A practical set of recommendations for strengthening organisational learning and knowledge management.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has professional experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, research, data analytics, programme performance management or impact measurement.
Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, results-based management, data visualisation and reporting are essential. Experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, KoboToolbox, ODK or similar platforms will be an added advantage.
Experience working with development organisations, social enterprises, donor-funded programmes or impact-driven initiatives is desirable. Familiarity with Blue Economy, climate action, environmental conservation or enterprise development will be an added advantage.
