White Ribbon Alliance UK are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join as Trustees. In this role, you will be instrumental in governing our charity and ensuring we achieve our mission to promote maternal health and rights. Trustees serve for a term of three years, with the possibility of renewal at the end of the term. We are looking to fill the positions of General Trustees, Board Chair, Treasurer, and Compliance Officer. Your strategic vision, commitment, and ambassadorial efforts will be vital in driving our organisation forward and making a significant impact on the communities we serve. Below is the role description and instructions on how to apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Statutory Duties of a Trustee 

Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. This includes: 

• Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy. 

• Ensuring compliance with the governing document (constitution or articles of association), charity law, company law and other relevant legislation or regulations. 

• Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects, for the benefit of the public. 

• Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets. 

• Safeguarding the good name, reputation, and values of the organisation. 

• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including appropriate policies and procedures. 

• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation. 

• Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of its funds. 

• Following proper arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of senior staff. 

• Scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, and providing independent, creative judgement on key issues.

• Offering advice and guidance on new initiatives, risks, or opportunities. 

Ambassadorial Contributions 

In addition to their statutory duties, Trustees are requested to use their specific skills, knowledge, networks, or experience to strengthen the board’s work according to their skills, capabilities, interests and available time. This includes: 

• Promoting the charity's mission and values: Trustees should consistently advocate for the charity's goals and principles in various settings, ensuring that the organisation's message is clearly communicated. 

• Representing the charity at external events: Trustees should attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and other events on behalf of the charity, acting as its official representatives. 

• Engaging with media: Trustees should be prepared to speak to the media about the charity's work, providing insights and information that highlight the organisation's impact and importance. 

• Leveraging personal and professional networks: Trustees should use their connections to support the charity's objectives, whether by opening doors to potential supporters, funders, collaborators, or influencers. 

• Cultivating strategic partnerships: Trustees should engage with stakeholders across healthcare, academia, government, and civil society to build and maintain relationships that benefit the charity. 

• Supporting fundraising efforts: Trustees should actively participate in fundraising activities, helping to secure the resources needed for the charity to achieve its mission. 

By fulfilling these responsibilities, trustees play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and impact of the charity, ensuring its continued success and growth.

Trustees are expected to bring both governance capability and a willingness to champion the charity externally. Essential qualities include: 

• A commitment to the organisation’s mission and values. 

• Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort. 

• Strategic vision and the ability to see the “big picture.” 

• Good, independent judgement and the confidence to speak one’s mind. 

• Ability to think creatively and contribute fresh ideas. 

• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.

Desirable (but not essential): 

• Strong personal and professional networks, with the willingness to leverage them on behalf of the charity. 

• Experience in advocacy, fundraising, or public speaking. 

• Understanding of the wider charity, health, or social justice sectors in which White Ribbon Alliance UK operates. 

 Time Commitment 

• Statutory duties for general trustees: 8-10 days per year. 

• Statutory duties for Chair, Treasurer, and Compliance Officer: 12-14 days per year (inclusive of general trustee duties).

Remuneration 

This is a volunteer position. Expenses incurred as part of fulfilling the role will be reimbursed. 

Are you able to volunteer some time to make a difference to a national cancer charity?  We are looking for an experienced Executive Assistant that has some time each month to work remotely with occasional in person opportunities if desired, as a volunteer to support the governance of Neuroendocrine Cancer UK.

About the Charity

We exist to address the unmet needs voiced by the neuroendocrine cancer community, supporting patients and their loved ones with the physical and psychological burden of neuroendocrine cancers. Through awareness, research, better funding and support, we can give our community the attention it deserves.

The Role

We currently have a Board of 7 Trustees that supports the Chief Executive and Leadership Team in the development and implementation of its Strategic Plan and the governance of the charity.  The Board is currently reviewing whether the current governance structure requires some development as the charity continues to grow.

The Executive Assistant to the Board is a new post to assist the smooth operation of the governance of the charity, in particular with the running of Board meetings.

Working remotely, you will assist the Chair and Chief Executive by organising hybrid and remote Board meetings, ensuring agendas are accurate and clear and distributed in a timely manner, confirming attendance, attending meetings remotely and providing summary minutes for approval.

Presently, there are 2 remote Board meetings each year, which last up to 2 hours and an away half day in London, which is a hybrid meeting.  It is likely that the number of meetings will increase to in the region of 5 a year.

You will be able to attend all these meetings remotely, although you will be encouraged to join the away half day meeting, but this will not be mandatory, and your travel and subsistence expenses will be paid.

As the Board embarks on a governance review, you will be given the opportunity to contribute your experience and thoughts to this process and assist the Chair with future Trustee recruitment.

It is envisaged that in addition to attendance of Board meetings, there will be an annual time requirement in the region of 20 to 30 hours a year, managed in your own time.

As a Teaching Quality Assessor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality Islamic essentials education across universities in the UK. This volunteer will assess the teaching quality of Roots Essentials courses, providing feedback and recommendations to support continuous improvement. The role supports the team’s goal of maintaining high educational standards and providing an enriching learning experience for university students.

Key tasks

▪ Observation and Assessment: Observe classes (in-person or virtually) and assess the teaching quality, content delivery, and student engagement based on established criteria.

▪ Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods, course materials, and assessments used in delivering the Roots Essentials Curriculum.

▪ Feedback and Reporting: Provide constructive feedback to instructors on teaching quality and suggest areas for improvement.

▪ Collaboration: Work closely with the Education Vice-Lead and Academic team to support the professional development of instructors.

We're looking for a finance assistant volunteer who can support the financial administration of the charity using our finance software,  Xero. We The volunteer will support the Chair to undertake regular financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and audits while ensuring financial transparency. 
 

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Support the financial management of the Charity using Xero
• Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices and expenses into our finance software, Xero.
• Weekly Reconciling income into Xero from GoCardless, Stripe, PayPal and other third-party agencies that facilitate donations being made to the charity.
• Maintain financial and accounting records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Assist with preparing payroll and/or pension information for submission to an external payroll provider (when required)
• Assist with the preparation of the accounts, quarterly and annual accounts for accountant annually as well as supporting funder financial reports
• Track the financial situation of projects
• Ensure that all necessary financial information is recorded accurately
• Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting
• Document Management: Organising and filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents (digitally).
• Assist the Chair, volunteers or members of staff in understanding and using the accounting software
• Any other tasks that may be required from time to time or during the final accounts period, as appropriate.
• Assist with general administration relating to finances

Key Skills or Qualifications

Essential:

• Knowledge and experience of using Xero accounting software, including tracking project spending, managing volunteers’ expenses and department spending, uploading invoices, reconciliation, etc.

Harry’s HAT is a UK based charity focusing on paediatric hydrocephalus. Our mission is to make life better for children and their families affected by the condition. The Board of Trustees works to achieve this through:

The opportunity:

Harry’s HAT is entering an important phase of development and the Board of Trustees is seeking a motivated individual to join as Vice Chair of Trustees. This voluntary trustee role supports the Chair of Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer in ensuring strong governance, clear policy development and effective leadership across the charity.

Key responsibilities:

The Vice Chair trustee supports the Chair of Trustees in providing leadership to the Board and maintaining effective governance. Working closely with the Chair, CEO and fellow trustees, the Vice Chair supports strategic direction and ensures trustee decisions reflect the charity’s mission vision and values.

• Two one-to-one meetings per year with the Chair of Trustees.

Skills and experience:

The ideal trustee will have experience of charity governance and trustee leadership. Essential experience includes chairing or supporting a board or committee, understanding trustee legal duties, experience of policy development, strategic awareness and confident communication. Trustees must exercise discretion and confidentiality. DBS clearance is required.

Desirable experience includes previous trustee or Vice Chair roles familiarity with small charity governance and understanding of safeguarding and risk management.

The Work Rights Centre is looking to widen its Board of Trustees. As we bid farewell to our Treasurer, who has reached the end of her six year maximum mandate, we are seeking a Finance Trustee (Treasurer) to join our Board.  This is a unique opportunity to support a growing and highly ambitious charity, and join a dedicated Trustee Board of experts from across employment, immigration and public law, communications and academia. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our resources are managed effectively to maximize our impact. Above all, you will have an opportunity  to make real, lasting social change.

About us

The Work Rights Centre (WoRC) is a frontline charity dedicated to ending precarious work and social exclusion. Since 2016, we have supported thousands of migrants and disadvantaged Britons to recover unpaid wages, fight workplace discrimination, and secure their immigration status.  We don’t just handle individual cases; we use our frontline evidence to advocate for systemic change through research and policy engagement. In 2025 alone, we recovered over £170k for exploited workers and supported hundreds in understanding and securing their status in the UK.

What time commitment is expected?

The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. The meetings are held online, typically lasting 90 min. Our annual Vision Day is held in person, with some sessions that Trustees can join remotely. It is a precious opportunity for trustees to join all staff in reviewing key achievements, reflect on the year ahead, and begin formulating strategic objectives. Once a quarter before every main board meeting, a small Resource Committee (including theTreasurer and Deputy CEO) meets to review the charity’s financial position and fundraising targets.

We are looking for a qualified finance professional with:

• Charity Finance Experience: A solid understanding of charity SORP, restricted/unrestricted funding, and voluntary sector governance.

Our partner is a growing NGO working to improve access to healthcare for underserved and remote communities in Uganda. As the organisation scales its programmes and funding, it is seeking pro bono support to strengthen its finance systems, reporting, and organisational foundations, ensuring they are robust, efficient and fit for future growth.

They are looking for an experienced finance or business professional to provide remote, hands-on support over an initial three-month period. The assignment will be delivered in two phases, starting with a review of current finance systems, workflows and reporting, and supporting leadership to clarify what “good” looks like for the organisation’s future systems. The volunteer will work closely with senior leadership and the finance team, helping to improve use of their existing accounting system, strengthen budgeting and KPI reporting, and reduce pressure on senior staff through clearer processes and controls.

Key areas of support may include:

• A finance health check, reviewing current processes, controls, workflows and approval structures, with a focus on identifying opportunities to streamline and reduce the administrative burden on senior leadership.
• A review of how Odoo is currently being used, with practical recommendations to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and usability.
• Strengthening budgeting and budget vs actual (BvA) reporting, including alignment between budgets and the chart of accounts.
• Development or refinement of a small set of core financial KPIs that support internal decision-making for leadership and programme teams.

The work will be undertaken collaboratively, with a focus on practical, proportionate recommendations that can be implemented by a small team in a low-resource context. The finance professional will lead on refining the scope and deliverables, based on the initial findings.

Profile

This role would suit a finance or business professional with experience in finance systems, ERP/accounting tools, management reporting, and organisational design. Experience working with NGOs or in international or low-resource settings would be highly valued. The ideal volunteer will enjoy working alongside teams, sharing workload as well as advice, and translating technical concepts into usable solutions.

Time commitment

The assignment will be delivered remotely, requiring approximately 2–3 hours per week over an initial three-month period, with flexibility to extend depending on progress and availability. The preferred start date is as soon as possible in January.

Our partner is delivering specialist services and long-term support to people affected by conflict, displacement and severe adversity. Through direct programmes, partnerships and systems-level work, they help individuals rebuild their lives and strengthen community-based support structures.

The organisation is now undertaking a major upgrade of its finance function, as its current Sage 50 and Excel-based system is no longer fit for purpose. They are seeking pro bono support to help select and prepare for the implementation of a modern, efficient accounting system that will strengthen controls, reduce manual processing and improve management reporting.

They are looking for an experienced finance professional to work alongside their finance team in a phased engagement, providing both strategic guidance and practical support. The initial phase will focus on clarifying what a “good” future system looks like, defining functional and reporting requirements, preparing for conversations with software providers, and assessing data readiness and migration strategy. Depending on skills, availability and progress, this may then extend into hands-on support with implementation and migration activity.

Key areas of support include:

• Clarifying future finance system requirements and what “good” looks like for the organisation
• Supporting preparation for conversations with accounting software providers
• Reviewing data quality, chart of accounts and readiness for migration
• Sense-checking the proposed implementation approach and project plan
• Supporting development of efficient accounts payable, bank reconciliation and reporting processes
• Advising on integrations, automation and data flows (e.g. bank, CRM, reporting tools)
• Coaching and mentoring finance staff to ensure skills are embedded

The volunteer will work closely with the finance systems project team, led internally by a member of the finance team.

Profile

The ideal volunteer will be a finance professional with strong experience in day-to-day accounting processes and finance systems. They should have worked at a practical level with accounting software and understand what good controls, reconciliations and reporting look like. Experience of system selection, data migration, integrations or automation would be highly valuable, as would a coaching and mentoring mindset. This role would suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on delivery with advisory support.

Time commitment

The assignment will be delivered remotely over an initial three-month period, requiring approximately 2–5 hours per week, with the option to extend depending on progress and mutual availability. The start date is ASAP.

The Head of Events is a crucial element of delivering our flagship event. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a new challenge, build and support a team which delivers a vital part of our charity’s strategic work and explore new ways to expand and improve Bi Pride UK's events.

Bi Pride UK’s mission is to create spaces where people who experience attraction beyond gender can be freely visible and celebrate themselves and their identities. It’s not enough to be ‘welcome’ at Pride. We make up a very large proportion of the queer community – the 2021 Census actually shows we’re half of the community – and we deserve to be visible and celebrated in our own right.

There are many ways to make this happen, and we work in many ways to bring this change about:

• Outreach work with other Prides, LGBTQ+ organisations and bi organisations – our consultation work with local Prides, the UK Pride Organisers Network and local and national LGBTQ+ organisations works in a tailored way to make sure that bi inclusion is a top priority and is being done well

• Organising a high-profile annual Bi Pride event – from September 2019, Bi Pride UK made history with the largest ever gathering of bi people recorded. A performance stage, a panel stage, stall village, street food, and over 1,300 attendees. After going virtual with the BiFi Festival for 2020 due to Covid-19 and running a virtual Pride event in 2021, we came back in person in 2022 with a hybrid event, and have been running the event in this format ever since

• Building a strong online and virtual community – just as important as the rest of our work is making sure that people hear about it! People need to know what resources and spaces exist for them, and how they can connect with other people like them

The role:

The Events team at Bi Pride UK is one of the core operational teams within the charity. The team handles programming, production and execution of our events, including our annual flagship Bi Pride event, which holds the record for the largest Bi Pride event in the world. This role will sit at the head of our Events team, supervising managers across the team and taking responsibility for the operational direction of our events. Bi Pride UK’s flagship Bi Pride event is a highlight of the year, and it’s the product of our amazing volunteers’ efforts throughout the year. 

The Head of Events is a crucial element of delivering our flagship event, so this is an exciting opportunity to take on a new challenge of building and supporting a team which delivers a vital part of our charity’s strategic work. The Head of Events will supervise four events managers who each oversee a different area of the event, and will lead the whole Events team in their team meetings and decisions regarding the production of our events. They will also work closely with key teams across the charity, including Media & Comms, Inclusion & Access, and Education & Outreach, to place our bi+ communities at the heart of our events and reach the widest audience possible. Our events place great focus on accessibility and inclusion, so the Head of Events will work consciously with the venue, accessibility consultants and technical live-streaming specialists to ensure our hybrid events meet the needs of our audience. They will have freedom to explore new ways to expand and improve our flagship event, and other events that Bi Pride UK could run through the year.

Key tasks of this role include:

• Reporting to the Events Trustee, as well as working closely with volunteers across the team and charity, to deliver events that meet the charity’s vision;

• Setting achievable strategic targets and workflows for the team as part of our three year strategy, and supporting volunteers to meet these targets;

• Overseeing the team’s finances, including setting budgets, tracking sub-team spending, and supporting the Fundraising team with information for grant applications;

• Supervising a team of year-round volunteers (dedicated to the planning of Bi Pride UK events) and supporting “on-the-day” event volunteers who contribute to the smooth delivery of our events; 

• Working with the Access & Inclusion team and the Accessibility Consultant to implement their recommendations and ensure the event meets high standards of accessibility;

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers for various elements of our events;

• Fostering robust collaboration with key teams and volunteers throughout the organisation to ensure the success and smooth running of our events;

• Working with the Volunteer Management team to recruit appropriate numbers of volunteers for the year-round Events team and volunteers to support event delivery;

• Contributing to due diligence reports and taking oversight of contributor contract completion for all areas of the event;

• Overseeing and supporting all key areas of event delivery, from stages and stalls areas, to volunteers and accessibility.

Our team volunteers remotely from anywhere in the UK, with some travel required occasionally (primarily for our flagship Pride event in London in August). All reasonable expenses incurred are reimbursed, including travel, lunch at away days and other all day events, and some childcare costs if required. The successful candidate will lead monthly Events team meetings on Wednesday evenings via conference call (which will become fortnightly on the approach to an event), in addition to further programming, 1:1 volunteer check-ins, contributors, suppliers and venue meetings as required. Our Trustees and Heads meetings take place via conference call on the third Monday evening of every month. 
 

Volunteer specification:

• Interest and passion for tackling discrimination against and improving the visibility of people in the UK attracted to more than one gender;

• An understanding of the needs of people and communities in the UK attracted beyond gender;

• Commitment to the aims and objectives of Bi Pride UK;

• Experience of delivering large events (up to and beyond £60K budgets);

• Experience of overseeing a team, especially volunteers;

• Experience of running remote or hybrid remote/ in-person events;

• Strong understanding of organising event logistics (e.g. venue layout, timings, resources) and good awareness of relevant health and safety and risk management measures linked to events;

• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusion, and a focus on making events accessible for all;

• Ability to handle documentation and accurate record keeping in a manner which adheres to confidentiality and GDPR requirements;

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with volunteers at all levels within the organisation, as well as with external contributors and suppliers;

• Excellent IT skills (for example, Google Workspace applications);

• Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Meticulous attention to detail;

• Strong team player, with the ability to self-motivate when working remotely;

• Availability on Saturday 29th August 2026 to support delivery of Bi Pride’s flagship event in London.

Education Volunteer Role Description 

Are you passionate about changing the way we treat animals? Do you want to help reduce environmental damage? Do you want to inspire people to enjoy healthy vegan food that both looks good and tastes great? 

The Vegan Society aims to make veganism more accessible. We help people to adopt a vegan lifestyle by supporting individuals, policy- and decision-makers, caterers, manufacturers, healthcare professionals and the media. 

Why do we need you? 

Laura Chepner is our Education Officer, and she is looking for a volunteer to support her in her role. Laura has a background in education, with a degree in Primary Education which preceded a decade of teaching and a short stint in the role of SENco (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). Shortly after that, Laura theorised vegan-inclusive teaching, published An Educator’s Guide for Vegan-Inclusive Teaching and worked as the UK’s first vegan-inclusion education specialist until joining The Vegan Society. 

At The Vegan Society, Laura supports vegan learners in education who have been discriminated against by acting as an intermediary between their families and the institution. Additionally, Laura supports educators by creating resources and delivering training sessions on what it means to be vegan-inclusive in their practice. Furthermore, Laura empowers parents/guardians to ask for vegan-inclusion by creating documents, with the help of The Education Network, that they can present and highlight their rights. 

What does this role involve? 

We support vegan learners and their families by offering practical resources, including tips for discussing veganism with schools, understanding legal protections and addressing concerns like catering and inclusivity. Our resources aim to help create an educational environment where vegan families feel respected and valued. This role will involve creating resources for families and educators. For example, template letters, guidance on legal protections, policy review requests, learning materials for children and much more.

What training and support is available? 

The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in Primary Education and be comfortable working independently. However, we are always willing to invite volunteers along to staff training when possible and to deliver training on specific skills in-house, as identified throughout the volunteering period. This role is remote, so support from the Education Officer will be available through email and phone calls as required. Monthly reviews with the Volunteering and Engagement Officer will also be conducted to ensure the volunteer is happy in their role. 

What skills would be useful in doing this role? 

• Qualified teacher

• Good written English

• Competent using Microsoft Office

• A strong understanding of the aims, campaigns and tone of voice of The Vegan Society 

• The ability to work independently. 

What does my availability need to be?  

This is an ongoing role and tasks will be requested by Laura on an ad hoc basis, volunteers can accept or decline each task. Volunteering can be done outside traditional working hours and in any time zone, although meetings and staff support will only be available between 9am and 5pm UK time. We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of six months to make the best use of recruitment and induction time and to get the best out of their volunteering experience.

This is an opportunity to use your expertise and skills in website development and social media presentation to make a difference to the arts in Ukraine. Our charity is focused on projects within Ukraine to support the future of dance there. This volunteer role will play a key role in fundraising and communications in support of this work.

As a board member, you will provide strategic oversight and help ensure that ArtClusiv continues to grow in a focused, values driven direction. Your guidance will support our goals of increasing visibility, strengthening partnerships, and securing funding to expand our programmes and opportunities for BIPOC creatives.
