Feeding Britain is the charity established in 2015 to implement the recommendations of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Hunger in the United Kingdom. We are working toward a future where nobody in the UK goes hungry, through a combination of direct project delivery, the allocation of grants to local partner organisations, and through our parliamentary links which enable us to provide policy recommendations based on the findings of our own Academic Advisory Group.
Feeding Britain is radically reforming the role, characteristics, and functions of community food provision across the UK through the establishment and development of Affordable Food Clubs which offer beneficiaries attainable pathways from poverty with a reduced risk of depending on emergency food parcels.
Expansion has been rapid: we are soon to establish our 150th local Feeding Britain partnership. In late 2023 we were selected as one of three Christmas Appeal charities by The Times & Sunday Times, in 2025 we were chosen as The Old Vic’s Christmas fundraising charity partner, and in 2026 we announced a long-term partnership with Gordon Ramsay. VOLUNTEER CHAIR OF TRUSTEES WANTED
Could you help turn a big idea into a charity that changes lives?
SUNSHINE Charity is on a mission to smash loneliness and social isolation through positivity, human connection, community and belonging — bringing SUNSHINE into people's lives.
We're a brand-new grassroots charity with a big ambition.
And we're looking for someone very special.
Someone who knows what good charity governance looks like — but also understands that great charities aren't built by sitting around a boardroom table.
And that's where YOU could come in.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED TRUSTEE TO BECOME OUR CHAIR
SUNSHINE's current Board is made up of enthusiastic people who are passionate about our mission — but this is their first experience of being charity trustees.
That's why we're looking for an experienced trustee and confident Chair who can help guide, support and develop the Board as SUNSHINE grows.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As Chair, you'll help provide the leadership, direction and confidence that our growing charity needs.
You'll help:
1. LEAD THE BOARD
Bring trustees together, create focus and ensure the Board operates effectively.
2. DEVELOP OUR TRUSTEES
Help our first-time trustees understand their responsibilities, develop their confidence and become an effective governing team.
3. KEEP US ON TRACK
Help us balance our big ambitions with good governance, responsible decision-making, financial sustainability, safeguarding and accountability.
4. CHALLENGE & SUPPORT
Ask the difficult questions when necessary — but always constructively and with SUNSHINE's mission at the heart of decisions.
5. WORK WITH OUR FOUNDER
You'll work closely with our Founder to help turn the vision for SUNSHINE into a sustainable, properly governed and genuinely impactful charity.
The Founder has a huge amount of passion and ideas for SUNSHINE — but is also juggling a lot.
We're looking for someone who can become a trusted leadership partner and sounding board, helping turn ideas into priorities, decisions and action.
6. HELP DRIVE THE TEAM
SUNSHINE is going to need people who make things happen.
You'll help create a culture where trustees, volunteers and leaders feel:
THIS ISN'T A "TITLES & BOARDROOMS" ROLE
We're not looking for someone who simply wants another trustee position on their CV.
We're looking for;
We're particularly interested in someone who has:
But above all...
WE WANT SOMEONE WHO GETS SUNSHINE.
Someone who believes that positivity matters.
That connection matters.
That community matters.
That belonging matters.
And that sometimes, something as simple as giving someone somewhere to go, someone to talk to and people to belong with can make an enormous difference.
WHY JOIN SUNSHINE?
Because you won't be joining an established organisation where everything has already been decided.
OUR CULTURE.
OUR GOVERNANCE.
OUR PROGRAMMES.
OUR VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY.
OUR PARTNERSHIPS.
OUR FUTURE.
And you'll have the opportunity to help a group of passionate first-time trustees become a confident, capable and effective Board.
COME SHINE WITH US.

Rocky Road Rescue (Registered Charity 1198638) is a British charity helping dogs and cats in need in Romania by finding them homes here in the United Kingdom.
We’re entirely volunteer-run meaning all the money we raise goes towards helping animals.
We need foster families for our animals in need!
Dogs and cats in UK foster homes are 5 times more likely to be adopted quickly into their forever home, compared to their siblings in our Romanian shelter.
You will welcome a dog or cat into your home and love them like your own - but will set clear boundaries to improve their ‘adoptability’ score.
Someone in your home needs to be at home most of the time, as our animals often suffer from separation anxiety; you will be able to take them for walks on the lead to exercise them as well as provide them with games and mental stimulation at home too.
We match our foster homes with dogs and cats that meet their needs, so you have a say in the visitor that joins you - they usually stay between 2 days and 2 months, depending on time of year and the animal itself.
Love of cats and/or dogs essential!
In return, we will provide you with training and a friendly team of volunteers and directors to learn from and are happy to provide references attesting to your contribution to our charity.
To apply, email us with a summary of your experience, your contact details and why you'd like to volunteer with Rocky Road Rescue and a member of our team will be in touch shortly.
We are a UK charity run entirely by volunteers committed to saving the lives of dogs and cats in Romania and funding them homes in the UK.

We expect that you will represent us in a professional, supportive and friendly manner, giving an unbiased summary of your conversation and a clear recommendation for or against adoption.
Your homecheck write ups will be clear and concise so the Directors can understand each adopters individual strengths and any potential challenges.
