About The Role
The Innovations Officer leads the development of a new project from concept to rollout, ensuring Make A Smile continues to evolve and deliver high‑quality, engaging experiences. You will design, test, refine, and launch an innovations project that strengthens the charity’s impact across all chapters.
Key Responsibilities
You will take ownership of an innovations project and guide it through every stage of development. Responsibilities include:
● Creating a full project outline, including aims, failure criteria, projected costs, timeline, and required skills.
● Recruiting and managing an Innovations Subcommittee with the skills needed to deliver the project.
● Delegating tasks, providing support, and ensuring subcommittee members fulfil their roles.
● Setting up all required admin, including risk assessments, reflection templates, and task‑tracking systems.
● Leading the creation of a prototype or pilot version of the project.
● Running tests with well‑established chapters and gathering feedback from volunteers, committees, and event leads.
● Overseeing multiple rounds of refinement until the project is ready for rollout.
● Supporting the staged rollout of the project across chapters.
● Providing regular updates to Trustees, including progress, budget status, and test outcomes.

This is an exciting time to join the Endometriosis UK trustee board, as the organisation expands and develops to achieve the changes that are needed to support those affected by the disease and to drive down diagnosis time. We are looking for a new Treasurer to build on this momentum to strengthen our organisation and bring about change for those with endometriosis. We have a skills-based board, with Trustees having one or more identified skills, with the overall membership of the Board providing the complete set of skills.
Endometriosis UK is the largest UK charity for those with endometriosis. Endometriosis UK works to:
• Provide support to those with endometriosis and their families and friends
• Provide clear, objective information about the condition and its treatments
• Raise awareness amongst health professionals and the general public about the condition
• Support research into endometriosis.
This is an unpaid role. Reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses will be paid.
Time commitment:
• Five meetings a year, including preparation for meetings, reading papers etc; and attendance at an annual strategy day and AGM (held on the same days as Board meetings).
• Trustees have the opportunity to take part in Board sub-groups and project groups to develop aspects of the organisations’ work. Current sub-groups include the Finance Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Sub-Group. Trustees are also invited to attend Endometriosis UK events.
We are recruiting for one new treasurer to join the board. We are particularly looking for:
• Personal or professional experience of diversity and inclusion issues
• Marketing and digital marketing
• Communications and social media
• Campaigning and achieving change
• Experience of working in Primary Care
• Charity finance experience
• Currently living in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales
Personal experience of living with, or having a close family member with, endometriosis, is vital on our Board. Whilst we look favourably on applications from those in the endometriosis community, we already have Trustees with first hand lived experience and new trustees do not need to have endometriosis.

The role will start at a Board meeting on 28th November 2026, when our current Treasurer reaches the end of their 6-year term of office. Prior to the roles starting, the incoming Treasurer will have the opportunity to observe a Board meeting in September, and induction will be planned in October.

FamilyLine operates as Family Action’s Helpline, open Monday – Friday, to anyone 18+ experiencing challenges related to family life. Volunteer shifts are currently available from 9am – 5pm.
Volunteers use a digital system to volunteer from their own home, offering listening & emotional support, suggestions, guidance & signposting via telephone, webchat and text messages.
Volunteers are trained to support using an empathetic, people-focused approach to ensure everyone who accesses the service feels included and receives the support they need.
Volunteers are also able to make referrals to other services, such as FamilyLine’s Counselling & Befriending service, or the Family Action grants programme.
How often would I need to volunteer?
FamilyLine volunteers choose the days & times for their own shifts of at least 2 hours per week. We are looking for a commitment of at least 12 months.

• Teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently
• Reliability – able to commit to training, shifts and supervision

No Panic has hundreds of members, and dozens of volunteers. We aim to create a sense of community among our members and volunteers.
The Community Engagement Team Co-ordinator volunteer will be responsible for running activities that will bring this about.
These include holding social events on Zoom and maintaining WhatsApp groups.
The engagement team can use their imagination and interests – events/groups could be anything from book groups to craft sessions. The co-ordinator organises and maintains the activities and can participate in them if desired.
