Hertfordshire’s Family Centre Service brings children’s centres, health visiting and school nursing together, to provide a more joined-up service for children, young people, and their families.

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. To make it easy for families to fit sessions and services around their busy lives, access is available from any Hertfordshire Family centre. We have locations across the entire county so please do enquire ensuring you have provided your postcode. 

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/ Activities

To support early years sessions for families with children aged 0–5, including those with SEND and emerging needs, by promoting engagement and child development through group activities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Welcome and engage families in a warm, friendly manner

· Support the delivery of structured and free-play indoor and outdoor activities

· Encourage participation and interaction between parents/carers and children

· Promote children’s development through praise and positive reinforcement

To support Public Health Nursing teams by helping parents use baby weighing equipment in a welcoming and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Welcome parents, carers, and babies to the self-weigh session in a friendly and approachable way.

· Explain how to use the weighing equipment safely and accurately (training provided).

· Support parents to record their baby’s weight on growth charts or apps as appropriate.

· Ensure the weighing area is safe, clean, and ready for families to use.

· Provide reassurance and encouragement to parents and carers.

· Signpost any questions or concerns about a baby’s health or development to a Family Centre staff member

Detailed description

Having access to a secure garden or outdoor area can be crucial for providing opportunities to socialise and relax, which can be invaluable for the mental well-being of our residents.

The gardening and growing volunteer will support our accommodation sites in maintaining their outdoor spaces, including:

·Weeding

·Sweeping

·Pruning

·Clearing leaves and large twigs

·Watering plants

·Planting bulbs and tidying up flower beds

We would love for this to be an opportunity to involve our residents and potentially lead a gardening activity with them, equipping them with knowledge and skills to maintain their own green spaces in the future. 

You will need:

• Enjoy working outside in all weathers.
• An interest/basic knowledge of gardening
• Role requires some degree of physical work and lifting/manual handling
• To work under your own initiative.
• Good communication skills
• Opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills

A full induction to the service and specific site will be provided as well as access to training and events throughout the year!

Some sites have basic tools however any additional tools and material required can be discussed with your volunteer manager .

What volunteers need:
You will be required to under go a Disclosure and Barring Service check and provide details of 2 x referees

Airplay is part of the RAF Benevolent fund and run by One YMCA. We provide youth clubs for children aged eight to eighteen which includes Ben Clubs for children aged 5 to 7 too. We provide a range of social activities in state-of-the-art facilities with sessions run by our friendly youth workers.

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language
• Be inclusive and welcoming to people of all religious faiths and none, referring people to other faith communities as appropriate
• Working alongside support staff, volunteers & local agencies
• Maintaining records of support and feeding back concerns about Resident welfare to Staff/Line Manager.
• Attend regular volunteer team meetings
• Being proactive in seeking spiritual and emotional support for your own benefit as this is a challenging role.

Additional activities could include:

• Facilitating group work for example: Retreat Programme, Bible Study, prayer or Mental Health Support.
• Welcoming new Residents by phone or in person
• Leading or helping with Chaplaincy lead events: Easter/Christmas activities, Remembrance Services
• Being an ambassador for YMCA’s mission in local Churches

• Ongoing support and regular 1:1 meetings with your line-manager

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, confident, and creative Volunteer Social Media Manager to take ownership of Influential Stars’ social media presence across multiple platforms.

This is a hands-on role for someone capable of planning, creating, and scheduling purposeful content that raises awareness, builds community engagement, and supports campaigns across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow Influential Stars’ social media presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn

• Plan, create, and schedule consistent content aligned with the organisation’s mission and tone of voice

• Develop content that inspires awareness, connection, and positive action

• Share stories, campaigns, and updates in a sensitive and engaging way

• Maintain content calendars and scheduling systems

• Monitor engagement and respond appropriately where required

• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure accurate and timely messaging

• Stay informed about platform trends and opportunities to increase reach

We provide women smallholder farmers finance, inputs, training, and market access for climate-smart agriculture.

Our partner is a UK environmental charity working to improve biodiversity, water quality and public engagement across a local river catchment, delivering a wide range of projects in partnership with public bodies and local communities.

The Treasurer will join the Board as a Trustee and chair the Finance Committee, providing oversight of financial performance and governance. Working closely with the Chief Executive and finance lead, the role includes reviewing budgets and financial reporting, supporting the development of financial policies, and ensuring appropriate controls and scrutiny are in place. The role also acts as a bridge between the Board and staff, offering both support and constructive challenge, while remaining strategic rather than operational.

The ideal candidate will bring financial experience, either through professional qualification or relevant senior-level roles, along with an understanding of charity finance and governance. You will be comfortable operating at Board level, able to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues, and confident contributing to strategic discussions.

This role involves around 8 meetings per year, including Board and Finance Committee meetings, with in-person meetings on the outskirts of Oxford and some flexibility for remote participation.
